Cincinnati Reds SWEEP Colorado Rockies, Now Season Best Two Games Over .500 | Chatterbox Reds G28

Trace and Nick will be LIVE on Sunday night at 9:00 PM!

On April 27, 2025, the Cincinnati Reds (13-13, second in NL Central) face the Colorado Rockies (4-22, fifth in NL West) at Coors Field in the final game of a three-game series, with first pitch at 3:10 p.m. ET. The Reds, coming off a 4-3 victory on Saturday led by Austin Hays’ offensive spark, aim to complete a series sweep against a struggling Rockies squad. Cincinnati’s road trip finale offers a chance to finish 5-4, bolstering their standing in a competitive division. The Rockies, mired in a five-game skid and a 4-22 start, continue to battle injuries and offensive woes, making this a critical opportunity for the Reds to capitalize.

Pitching Matchup: Cincinnati’s Nick Lodolo (left-hander) takes the mound, looking to exploit Colorado’s 28th-ranked .213 team batting average. Lodolo’s ability to induce ground balls and limit hard contact will be key in the hitter-friendly Coors Field. The Rockies counter with Ryan Feltner, who has struggled with consistency, posting a high ERA in recent outings. Feltner’s 43.7% ground-ball rate could play into Cincinnati’s aggressive base-running, led by Elly De La Cruz, who boasts a 10-game hitting streak and 23 RBIs.

Key Players: For the Reds, De La Cruz (.254 AVG, 5 HR) and Noelvi Marte (.321 AVG, 12 RBI) have been offensive catalysts, with Marte’s recent hot streak adding depth to a lineup that ranks sixth in MLB with 128 runs. Spencer Steer, fresh off a two-run homer on Friday, remains a power threat. Colorado’s Hunter Goodman (.349 AVG, 12 RBI) has been a bright spot, but the absence of Ezequiel Tovar (hip), Kris Bryant (lumbar), and others hampers their lineup. Brenton Doyle’s speed could test Cincinnati’s defense, but the Rockies’ 77 wRC+ (worst in MLB) suggests limited firepower.

Betting Odds and Trends: The Reds are favored at -154 on the moneyline, with the Rockies at +129. The over/under is set at 11 runs, reflecting Coors Field’s reputation for high-scoring games. Cincinnati has won 58.3% of games as favorites this season, while Colorado is 1-16 as a +129 or worse underdog. The Reds’ bullpen, with Ian Gibaut’s recent scoreless streak, should provide an edge if Lodolo exits early.

Prediction: Expect the Reds to lean on their superior offense and Lodolo’s pitching to secure a 7-4 victory, completing the sweep. De La Cruz and Marte will likely exploit Feltner’s vulnerabilities, while Colorado’s depleted roster struggles to keep pace. Weather (68°F, clear) should ensure a full game, with Cincinnati’s momentum carrying them to a winning road trip

  1. Trace. Admit it. The reds are better. Offensively than you thought. Maybe not W.S. But better than last. And have possibilities, if pitching stays strong.

  2. Pitching, is critical. They must stay healthy and the bullpen must be able to save games!!! Hitting will be semi- consistent. But so far. Looks like an exciting year.

  3. I apologize for cursing the no no, I turned to my bud and said, do you he has a no hitter going!? a spilt sec after that, a hot shot to deep short, and was like oh no!! The no no maybe gone 😢 took a replay to my dismay ugh

  4. I don't think it's true that Cincy doesn't like Elly. Of course there will always be haters on social media, but that's the minority. I know lots of Reds fans and they all love the guy. Take a walk around GABP and I bet 90%+ of fans you ask will tell you that Elly is their favorite player.
