4. Last year was the only year Marte had a terrible walk:strikeout ratio. His minor league ratio was less than 2:1.

6. When Stephenson comes back, assuming there isn't some phantom IL stint by someone else, what do you think happens with the roster? Could Candy be out even though it would cost $31 million? Candy is not helping this team at all right now. Or would they really send down Wynns and almost certainly lose him to someone else since he's out of options? Or someone else?

7. I think it's a stretch to be upset about 3 wins in anyway. The only disappointment on this team is Candy. Outside of that I'm very happy with this team.

   Not sure what you're talking about as far as replacing him. Marte is 3rd, Steer is 1st and when those guys have days off you move Espy and Lux around.

19. Wanted to take a quick moment and share something really cool with everybody. I’m going to step outside of player performance for a moment to share the “human” side of some of these players. We knew Tyler Stephenson was rehabbing in Louisville this week so we drove up and caught the Louisville Bats games on Wednesday and Saturday. Of course a much smaller stadium so you get a much more “up close” look at not only the games but the players themselves. On Wednesday after the game Will Benson gave his game bat to a kid and autographed it. Then seeing other kids around he gave out baseballs and signed them. It was such a joy seeing those little ones run away with those prizes – and the kid who got the bat. I talked to his mom and they were beside themselves. I don’t know if Will understands the impact he had on those kids but it is amazing. He didn’t have to do that – his workday was finished and yet he stuck around for those kids. On Saturday they had a little 4 year old boy “race” the Bats mascot around the bases. That little boy ran his heart out and of course beat the mascot. As they were carrying him past the dugout Tyler Stephenson gives the little guy a high five and a baseball. Again – something he didn’t have to do, but did it anyway. What a great thing these two guys did for those kids – and I’m certain the Reds are full of players that would do the same. My wife and I loved every moment of it! Just shows how truly special this group is this year. Thanks for letting me share!
