[Ken Rosenthal] Rangers demoting 1B Jake Burger and promoting 1B Blaine Crim from Triple A, sources tell @TheAthletic. Plan is for Burger to “reset” and return soon.

  2. I legitimately never believed this organization would ever give Blaine Crim a shot. Wow.

    I love Burger. I hope everything outside of the game is going okay for him. His newborn daughter had open heart surgery in spring training, and I just hope the guy is in a good mental space.

  5. Holy shit I never actually thought they’d do it. Burger hasn’t been in the minors in years. Also really happy for Crim. Seems like he’s been tearing it up in AAA forever and never gotten a chance until now.

  6. Happy for Crim. He’s hit at every level of the minors and I’m glad he’s getting his shot at the big league level.

    Really hope this move works for Burger. The team has been struggling so much recently hitting for power, and when Burger is at his best, he can provide that. Fingers crossed that this is a short stint at AAA for him.

  7. Unfortunate but probably for the best. I really like Burger and he hasn’t been that horrible overall, but these last few games he’s really struggled. Hope this break/reset is what he needs to get him back at 100%.

  19. Wish Burger all the best and that this reset works for him. Blaine Crim coming up has me excited/hopeful about us getting out of the slump and back consistently in the win column.

  20. Weird question, not a Rangers fan, asking based on fantasy baseball, what is up with Crim. I see he’s 27 and has good numbers in the minors. Should I pick him up, will he play everyday?

  22. Most likely Crim will be replacement level but god it’d be awesome if he hit his way into playing everyday.

  24. Blaine Crim is the fifth player from the 2019 draft to play for Texas. That’s honestly insane they’ve had that many big leaguers come out of it.

  27. I love Jake and hate to see this but also am ecstatic for Blaine. Very conflicted. But as a sacrificial lamb Burger was the most maneuverable guy since you’re not gonna cut/option Adolis, Marcus, Joc etc etc. damn.
