Cubs vs. Brewers Game Highlights (5/4/25) | MLB Highlights

Freddy Peralta is on the mound beginning his warm-up tosses getting ready to face this red-hot Chicago offense. Sensational his last time out against the Chicago White Sox. Picked up another win. Gave up just backto-back home runs in the first inning. Was brilliant afterwards. He’s been going after Hap. Nothing but heaters so far. The first six pitches that he’s thrown in the game. Two two pitch. Half a swing and a miss and a curveball and a beautiful one from Freddy Peralta. Strikeout number one for Freddy and number 991 in his career. And that one rolled to first base. Had him out in front of a change up. Hoskins takes care of it. Two quick outs in the two to Suzuki. Missed. No, he got him. A fast ball. Might have been a generous call from Malachi Moore. He hesitated and then pulled back in a one-tw inning for Freddy Peralta. I love that as a pitcher. First pitch of the ball game. Lazy popup. We take a look at the the deets on Mr. Imanaga. He’s been really good away from Wrigley Field with an ERA of 0.43 includes his start over in Tokyo. He’s allowed one or no runs at five of seven. The other two he got knocked around a little bit. Lucky charms the Cubs. They do a lot of winning when he’s on the mound. Backto back hits. Milwaukee now making some noise. No score, but they’ve got two men on with one away for Christian Yelich. Drill to right. trouble, but it’s playable now for Tucker. He makes the catch shy of the track and gets it back in. Tagging from second and going to third is Collins when it first left the bat of Yelich. I thought it might go the distance, but he hit it out on the end of the bat and it’s out number two. Runners at first and third and the batter is Reese Hoskins. A little pop fly, shallow center. It’s going to be a routine play for Crow Armstrong. He’s got it. No runs for Milwaukee. They get two hits but walk away emptyhanded. It’s on to inning number three. Nothing nothing game. It’ll be 8 n and one in the Cubs order starting with Dansby and he rips it up the middle for a base hit smoking a line drive right over the head of Peralta. Mentioned Birdie one of the guys that has had some success against Peralta in this Cubs lineup. Three for five with a homer and a tapper back towards the middle. It’ll be Ortiz. That’s one to first double play. Wow, what a great play by Ortiz. A concentration on that play. I mean, he’s dealing with the bag. He’s dealing with Swanson coming in. He’s able to step on the bag and make a good throw to get the double play on Birdie, who runs pretty well. That’s a heck of a play by Joey Ortiz. Popped him up. Foul territory for Contras. Bat halfway to the Cubs dugout. William makes the catch. The inning is over. Leadoff single, but Freddy faces the minimum. Brewers batting against Shota Imanaga. We go to the bottom of the third in this scoreless game. The wind up 2-2 swinging a miss. Got him with the splitter. That one broke down and it ends up putting Tang away. Second straight and second strike out of the outing for Shota Shurio hits a fly ball to right. It’s playable for Tucker near the track. One hands it for out number two. Boy, when you can throw that fast ball inside and paint it either at the knees or up underneath the right-handed hitter’s hands and then go to that split, what a weapon. This ball is popped up. Foul. Might be playable for Amaya. It is. He’s got it over near the on deck circle. First base side. Three up, three down for Short. May the fourth be with you as well, Princess Leia. We go to the top of the fourth inning. Ianaga Peralta dueling zeros and a nice pitcher duel so far. Kyle Tucker swinging a drive right center field. Base hit over to pick it up as Cameron and get it back in. It’s a leadoff single for Kyle Tucker. The leadoff man on for a third straight inning against Freddy Peralta has pitched around it two previous frames. Now it’s Suzuki swinging a miss and Peralta strikes out Suzuki. Yeah, that high fast ball up out of the zone at 94 mph. Got him to swing at it. Freddy’s looked good so far. Stuff has been really good. The fast ball’s been the big pitch for him today. He has just been in attack mode for the most part. Absolutely thrown a lot of good quality strikes. Freddy Peralta three innings in a row has worked around a leadoff pace runner. We go to the bottom of the fourth. No score. William Contra leading off the inning. 02 swing and a miss. Strike three. Nasty. Third strike out this afternoon for Shona. Comes on that split finger pitch. Yell bangs one into the gap in left center field. Crow Armstrong cuts it off. Yelich with a long single. Not testing that good throwing arm from Crow Armstrong. First base runner for the crew since the first. And here comes Reese Hoskins. And the pitch hit in the air to right. It’s playable for Tucker near the track. Makes the catch and that’s going to be out number two. Retreating to first is Yelich. Scoreless game, fourth inning and the batter is Cameron. Fly ball left center field playable for Crow Armstrong back near the track. Hayes got it and the inning is over. The Brewers do not score. It’s on to inning number five. Pete Crow Armstrong the lead off for the Cubs here in the fifth. Line drive base hit in the left. He continues to hit. He’s got three home runs in this series. All four of his hits on this road trip before that one were all homers. Gamaya is a batter. See if Cro Armstrong tries to take a bag. There he goes. Throw to second base on the bag and he’s toast. Kind of a delayed reaction out there at second base, but Crow Armstrong overslid the bag. Terra kept the glove on him and got the out call. Looked like the throw beat him. That was a perfect throw by Contrarus. Tang doesn’t even have to move the glove. Teralta trying to take care of Amaya here. Kicks, delivers, swinging him. Struck him out with a change up down and away. That is his fifth strikeout. of the afternoon. There’s two away now for Dansby Swanson and he struck him out. 996 for Freddy Peralta. He’s four away from a thousand. Pete Pro Armstrong. He’s been busy today. Brewers have hit five fly balls out in his direction already in this game. Two down for Bryce Tay. O2 swing and a miss. Strike three. Shota is dealing. One, two, three inning and five scoreless frames. Professional hitter Kyle Tucker. Two out single. He’s aboard now to get Sea Suzuki to the plate for Chicago. Suzuki. Couple of strikeouts against Freddy. Freddy’s had his numbers so far this afternoon to two. Swinging a miss. He went after a curveball down and away. Strikeout number seven for Freddy Peralta and 997 in his career. Third time through for Brewers orders. Starting with Jackson Cheerio against Ianaga. Cheurio lines one to left. A base hit. The leadoff man is on for the Brewers for the first time in the game. Splitter and not a bad one either. Get out and hook it into left field. Fourth hit for the Brewers. All singles. And that’s ball four. A splitter on three and0. That’s the respect for Contrarus. And he had a green light too. He was ready. Yell getting a chance to see Imanaga for a third time. Grounds it to first. Throw to second. There’s one to first and he’s safe. Is Shota okay? He’s holding the back of his left leg. Safe to call at first. Shota might have pulled a muscle of some kind. I don’t want to speculate, but he’s Yeah, obviously not 100% right now. I That’s This is could be a problem. He’s I think he’s grabbing his left hamstring is what he’s grabbing. Now, last week it was his left thigh that was cramping. And now I wonder if he’s having the same same kind of issue tonight now. He’s, you know, you’re into the sixth inning, he’s thrown 84 pitches in a game. Is he cramping again? I think he’s coming off the field. H the fieldielder’s choice. Show limping noticeably as he walks off slowly. Yeah, he pulled his hamstring, Pat. He was getting he was getting close to first base. I think he pulled his hammy. I really do. No score and the Brewers threatening runners on the corners. Julian Merryweather takes over on the mound for the Cubs after the injury to Ianaga. And he throws one back to the back stop. Turio will score. One- nothing Brewers on a wild pitch. Not even close. 95 with a fast ball. He just yanked it. And Jackson almost able to jog home. And the Brewers have broke the ice here in the sixth. And now Hoskins will be intentionally walked. So first and second and here’s Daz Cameron with dad in attendance. This would be a big opportunity for Daz to pick up his first hit as a Brewer and a line drive into right center of base hit. Here comes Yell. It’s two nothing on the first knock as a Brewer for Daz Cameron. Well, he made that one count, didn’t he? Backto back sliders. Both of them hangers. Cameron goes. It’s away. No throw. Cameron swipes second. And the Brewers have second and third. Caleb Durban at the plate. 3-2 pitch. Line drive into the gap. That’ll score two more. Durban on his way to second. Here comes the throw. It’s late and the little engine that could delivers. That’s Cameron. You got Durban with big base hits. And both of them coming to the opposite field. Really good approaches. And again, it keeps the tying run in the on deck circle. The best that Horner can do is make this a one-run game. Pitch swinging a miss. He struck him out. McGill roaring on the mound. Elevated a fast ball at 99 and strikes out Nicoer. And the Brewers with their fifth shut out of the season has salvaged the game out of this series with a four nothing victory over Chicago.

  1. Love the hit by Daz Cameron. Dad Mike was a great Brewer back in the day. He started the pulling out of the shirts after the game as an honor to his dad.
