Brewers vs. Rays Game Highlights (5/11/25) | MLB Highlights
Pinkalicious at the ballparks all across Major League Baseball today celebrating and honoring all the great moms out there. Got your poncho ready to go? Maybe take that off. They’re like, “What’s going on here?” Right. Today’s game will start in a weather delay. We had the first one in franchise history for the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday and today number two. I guess we enjoyed the weather delay so much yesterday. We decide we do it a second straight day and we may have it many more times before the season is done. So the Rays are going to have to get used to it. Little bit of rain but not a lot as Drew Rasmusen, former Brewer leads the Rays out onto the field. Taking the mound this afternoon for the Tampa Bay Rays. It’s going to be right-hander Drew Rasmusen making his eighth start of the season. And Drew trying to get back to that form that he showed his first four starts where he gave up just two earned runs in 20 and two/3 innings. All right, here we go. Sal Felic digs in and after a 40minute rain delay. Swinging a ground ball towards the middle. There’s Walls cutting right over the bag at second and throws on to first. Freelick is down and finally underway. And there’s the game’s first out. Here’s Cheerio. Hit his seventh home run of the season yesterday. Chopper to third. Cabierro with the throw to first. Two up and two down via the ground ball. Three ground ball outs. Everybody got a chance to play there in the infield for the Rays in the first inning. One, two, three for Drew Rasmusen. Now we get a look at Chad Patrick as we go bottom one. Chad Patrick, start number eight for him and he’s just got to be him today. Just pitch his game. He’s going to use the cutter a lot at the top of the zone. He pitched extremely well against the Astros on Tuesday. All right. Well, Chandler Simpson will start it when he swings and lines one at a right center field that gets down for a hit and Churio has to angle back to go get it. Simpson with a helmet off. Flying to second and he’s easily in with a double. Wow, he went so hard into second he almost slid all the way into left field. What a terrific start for Chandler in the race. He’s been in a tough stretch. That’s his first extra race hit since he had his first hit in the big leagues. That’s one thing that Chad Patrick’s been able to do. It’s been able to wiggle out of jams. hitters just three for 29 against him with runners in scoring position. That’s fourth best in all of baseball in terms of batting average. Patrick brings home the pitch and a swing and a miss. Struck him out. Cutter up and out of the zone. That’s a big first down for Chad Patrick. Rays get a man to third and two down. Jonathan Aronda. Now he has an opportunity to give the Rays the lead. One of the best hitters in all of baseball this season, Jonathan Aronda. See what he has for him. And Ronda has feasted on right-handed pitching too to the tune of a 356 average is lined into left field to give the Rays the lead. Base hitter Rhonda scoring is Simpson one to nothing and the Rays score first. Good piece of hitting got a ball away and went right with it as Jonathan has done this home stand and we’ll see if the trend continues. Rasmmanson has retired the first six that he’s faced in short order. Couple of one, two, three innings on 21 pitches. Don’t want to pitch lined in a right. There’s base hit. Jake Bowers first man to reach for the crew. Righty to righty to Ortiz from Drew Rasmusen. That’s taken called. Strike three at the knees. Good looking fast ball at 97. Second strike out for Rasmusen is the first out in the third. A lot of success for Drew Rasmusen on pitches into Ortiz. None better than this one. 97 downstairs on the corner. Leadoff single. A man left. And Drew Rasmusen works around a leadoff single to Jake Bowers who strands him at third base. Two and a half in the books here in Tampa. One- nothing Rays. Here’s Yelich who grounded out to second base in the first. Now in the last seven plus innings, Brewers have just one hit in this series. Yelich down the left field line. Long run Simpson running out of room and gone. Yelich goes deep on Mother’s Day to tie things up inside the pole and pretty well out to left field. Has had a hit every game in this series. Good sign for the Brewers. And that time he hit it with some thump the other way. Happy Mother’s Day to all the great moms celebrating today. And a very special Mother’s Day for Alicia Yelich, Christian Yelich’s mom. He’s using the pink bat. He’s got his mom’s name on it, so of course you’ve got a homer with your mom’s bat. And now William Contrarus. Base is clear. Still one out. Contraras fly ball deep right field. This is way way back. Watch this baby fly. Goodbye. And the Brewers have gone back to back to take the lead in the fourth. Contraras Yelich number four this season. That is his first extra base hit in almost a month. And another oppo bomb. It’s 2-1 Brewers. Patrick gave up the run in the first, but scoreless innings, the second and the third. And now looking for a shutdown in the fourth. Here’s Jonathan Ronda who drove home the Rays only run so far. Swinging a line drive to right center. That’s going to drop. Another base hit for Jonathan Aronda. Swinging a line drive in a right. It’s a base hit for Cameron Meisner. And the Rays have first and third and nobody out. And Meisner, nice to see him coming through. First and third, none out. Jos Cabiierro swings and hits one in the air to center should tie the game. And on the sack fly by Jos Caviierro, a productive out, the Rays have tied Milwaukee at two here in the fourth. Bowowers works a leadoff walk. So good day at the plate so far for Jake Bowers. He has achieved the goal of getting to first base. Swinging away and he lines one into right center field. That’s going to get down. Cut off on a couple of hops by the right fielder Jankowski. First to third goes Bowers and it’s a single for Joey Ortiz. And the Brewers are set up in a big way here. Lead off walks. Boy, do they always come back to hurt. And all of a sudden now out of nowhere, first and third, nobody out. And Lao Fields, throws to first just in time to get Durban. Bower scores from third and the Brewers back out in front. It’s three to2 crew. Brewers starving for that big gamedefining hit. He swings and blasts one to deep center field, but lining it up Meisner shy of the track to catch it. And the defensive positioning helps for the Rays there. Brewers get one and leave him in scoring position. We’re halfway done. Chandler Simpson to begin the fifth inning with the now down three to two. Simpson lines at the third. Fair ball up against the tarp. He’s going to try for second with a pick up and throw by Bowers. Offline. A double on an 02 pitch. Simpson second two bagger of the day and nobody out. So after the Brewers take the lead now here come the Rays again and that’s kind of how this series has gone. Punch counter punch and Patrick with some work to do here. Fly ball into shallow right. Long run for Freelick. It’s going to be Terra who takes charge and makes the catch in shallow right in fair territory. So the second baseman goes out and that’s a big first down for Chad Patrick and that’s going to be it for him as Pat Murphy pops up out of the dugout. He’ll take the ball from Patrick. Tyler Alexander takes over on the mound for the Brewers. Jonathan Ronda Reyes are trying to come back. They’re down 3-2 with two on and one out. And Rhonda goes to right shallow. Felic there makes the catch. Simpson has to hold. Look at a righty up there against the lefty Alexander. This is a pretty big at bat in this game right here. Two outs, runners at first and second. A dangerous hitter in Commonro. The lefty on the third base side of the rubber offers fly ball. Well hinted at left field way up there. Back goes Bowers to the base of the wall. Makes the catch. It test to the limits of the ballpark and right up against the fence. Jake Bowers makes the play and the Rays are turned away through five. He’s got a leadoff infield single with his team down by a run. Three to2 in the seventh inning. Chandler Simpson coming up. Swung on grounded back to Abner. He’s got it. Throws the second one. Relay to first. Can they double him off? You bet they can. Ortiz throws it over and it’s a double play. 163. The fastest man perhaps in baseball. Chandler Simpson has hit into two ground ball double plays against the Brewers. I did not have that on my bingo card coming into this series. Now the pitch. Breaking ball line towards second. Caught by a leaping terra. What a time on that jump. It was perfect and he snagged it at the apex. Urebe a huge fist bump as Bryce caught that ball to end the inning. Christian Yelich leads it off in this eighth inning and he sends one to center field. That’ll get down for a base hit. I wonder if he’s going to use that pink Alicia bat all year. He’s got a couple of knocks with it including a homer. Lead off single from Yelich. Brewers trying not to waste it. It’ll take a clutch hit here from Ree. Brewers are looking for their first hit of a runner in scoring position in this game. They are 0 for eight and a ground ball through the left side into left field for a base hit for Hoskins. Yell around third on his way home. He’s in there standing up and the insurance comes from Reese on Mother’s Day as he signals to the Brewers fans. A little cushion. It’s 4 to2 crew. Big RBI by Reese Hoskins on the change up. Gets that one down the bottom of the ninth inning. Couple of homers. Great pitching today from the Brewers bullpen. Three and two/3 scoreless. And one more guy coming out. Trevor McIll trying to pick up the save. It would be his fifth. McIll trying to slam the door here in the bottom of the ninth. Kicks the leg. The pitch. Curve ball called. Third strike. Ball game over. Trevor McIll gets Taylor Walls looking. Works a one, two, three, ninth inning. The Brewers salvage a game here in Tampa out of this series with this 4-2 victory.

Happy mother's day!
Very up and down this season but a win today makes for a happy Mother’s Day
Glad Spring Training 2.0 is over
Are the Rays currently getting a new stadium built?
Just as you're ready to give up on yelich and Hoskins as being washed up they come through. Now get monastereo back playing 3rd as he should have been all along.
First extra base hit in a month for Contreras. Kinda helps explain what's happened to the offense.
Brewers win on mother's day
If I hear “Their first rain delay in franchise history 😃😆” again about any team again I’m gonna go full winter soldier
