Look, I know this will sound crazy, and he’d probably have no interest in coming here, but I would actually be open to John Tavares filling the 2C spot for the next 2-3 years while we find an actual long term replacement instead of trading the farm for Marco Rossi etc. this summer.
Ehlers would be a good addition. Maybe Sam Bennett or Matt Duchene.
Ehlers and Marner should be worth their price tags, but I see a lot of guys getting the bag and pulling a Houdini here.

I am from Halifax and watched Ehlers and Drouin play together on the Moosheads (QMJHL). Would not mind seeing that combo again if they still managed to have the same chemistry.
Are any of them hometown guys who might have a bit more of a desire to play in Vancouver for that reason?

Let’s be honest we ain’t signing shit lol this management and owner ship have no intention of spending on a good free agent seriously when was the last time the canucks signed a big free agent , debrusk? These guys ain’t doing shit
I think a lot of these guys are going to get re-signed and not see free agency like: Tavares, Marner, Benn, and Kuzmenko to name some.
The only high profile UFA I’d want to pursue is Ehlers going up to $10M if that’s what it took. He’s one of the few top line capable play driving players actually available and I don’t see the Jets bucking up to keep him, plus he has always been stifled being there behind Kyle Connor. I have a feeling that Ehlers and Pettersson would be dynamite together and that our PP1 would look awesome with him on it.
I like the idea of bringing in some veteran help depending on dollars and term like: Gourde, Smith, and(or) Tanev.
Based on what management has done in the past I expect them to go bargain shopping on 1 or 2 guys as well for a year or two near league minimum. Vrana and(or) Mantha look appealing to me.
Finally, on Bennett… I see a ton of people wanting to go after him hard. I don’t disagree that he’s a talented, gritty player that is the type you win with in the playoffs. *BUT* I get major David Clarkson vibes from him in the sense that it’ll take giving him a massive overpay to get him here and that he’s the type of player that the wheels could fall off within in a year or two due to how hard of a game he plays.
Yeah but the real question is who the hell would want to sign here unless free agency hits mid summer and someone gets desperate lol
Kuzmenko, Suter, and Boeser, I don’t know why, but I feel like they can have 39 goal, 25 goals, and 40 goal seasons here.
