The Edmonton Oilers have the Vegas Golden Knights on the brink of elimination.
Temperature rises in game four and VGK now just one game away from playoff elimination. More ahead on this edition of Locked On Golden Nights. And uh make sure that you check us out on YouTube and subscribe there. Lockdown Golden Knights. We are the only daily VK podcast coming up ahead today. Why wasn’t VK prepared for game number four? And can VK overcome these injuries? Three nothing VK shut out Chris by a sharp Stewart Skinner last night in Edmonton. Now the Golden Knights are headed home and it’ll be game number five on Wednesday and they could be eliminated in the second round of the playoffs. The VGK were behind the eightball from the start last night from the opening faceoff. The Oilers had all the juice and just 127 into the game, it was Adam Henrik. Remember, I liked Henrik and I wanted BK to go after him once upon a time when he was a free agent. Adam Henrik scoring uh the G again off the the forche last night. Uh, Zack Whitecloud turns over the puck and then Adam Henrik puts it home and then uh, that was a game-winning goal, right? Just 127 into the game. Henrik again, he scores twice there. Uh, the second one was between the legs and he beats Hill. Vander Kane pushing into the crease, barrels over Aiden Hill. A lot of contact. All hell breaks loose last night. Trent Frederick tangles with Nick Hey earlier in the period. Matias Yanmark got a roughing penalty as Hill more or less puts out his right leg there and they called a penalty on Yammark. So much contact, so much physicality. And uh Aander Kane with the final goal last night, scoring off the rush in the second. And that was the play in which Shay Theodore pinches and the puck uh just is taken away and off to the races. Kane goes fivehole on Aiden Hill. How many times have we seen that? Three nothing the final. Edmonton didn’t have to do much more. They just backed off on the physicality. VGK was just beaten to a pulp to be honest with you. Very tired, very fatigued. And Edmonton sets the tone early in game number four. And that pace was just too fast for VK. I felt early on and this is a team I think and I said it before is much too fast for VK. What are your thoughts? Um, good morning to the Edmonson Oiler fans. I’m assuming uh not long after this this uh episode is uploaded, the comments are going to be absolutely um very um very polite and yeah, no, listen, it’s we appreciate the Oiler fans and I know there’s going to be a lot of chirping right now and the Oilers have have deserved that. Um they’ve earned that moment and it’s a 3-1 deficit for the Vegas Golden Knights right now and the pace is the first thing I’ll push back on. Um I don’t like the track meets. It’s It’s tough to go blow forblow, punch for punch with the Edmonton Oilers. Great team, great skaters. I don’t need to go too deep into that, but the Gold Knights did okay at that as far as game two and game three went. So, the Golden Knights showed that they have that ability. Now, did going punch for punch with the Oilers in games two and three wear them down for game number four? Cumulative effect. No doubt. No doubt. That’s another conversation that is very warranted. Um, I for one have been very hopeful to see a slower pace where the Golden Knights are slowing down the neutral zone. Talked about that probably as one of my important keys to the game every every game this series right now. Um, you got to start with Knoblock. You got to start with Knoblock here. I have been very critical of Knoblock and not necessarily critical but wondering what is his go-to besides triple shifting McDavid and dry cidle. So before game four starts, it comes out that McDavid and Dry Cidle are separated from the line. You have new faces out there and as a result, the physicality uh they just swarm the Golden Knights early and segment two, why wasn’t BGK ready for this? We’ll talk about that. I don’t know the answer necessarily. Um but I think Knoblock is your winner here. Of course, the Oilers played a great and the Gold Knights necessarily didn’t. But Knoblock, give him his credit right now. Give him his flowers. Put Put some respect on his name. There you go. Yeah, for sure. And how does Skinner, who comes into that game, giving up over five goals per game in the playoffs, keep in check, stopping just 24 shots. That’s another story because the Golden Knights won’t they won’t shoot the stinking puck. And again, those streaks, Skinner now 5-0 in game fours. And the Oilers overall are 8 and0 in game fours since 2023. And uh it was 17 days I think they said between starts for Skinner. So maybe in game number three, you know, he was just a little bit off. Needed starts. He comes back. He needs starts. Okay. Well, he got blinkers. He got blinkers, Tony. He has his blinkers on. He did have blinkers on. Aiden Hill needed blinkers because he was there was so much contact in the crease for VGK and you’d have to say that Edmonton was in the head of Aiden Hill for sure. Yeah. Listen, Aiden Hill has never shied away from physicality and it was good. I I liked watching him put Zack Heyman on his behind early on. He just stood there and unfortunately Hill had to do his own dirty work. A defense a defenseman should have done that before Hill did, but um Hill took care of it. He’ll definitely stuck out his leg as Yanmark went by. He got away with one right there and as a result, Nick Hey, got this wind today. Um Nick Hey has to drop the gloves and gets cut open and Nick Hey won that fight, but he took a couple that that probably his visor that cut him open there. Um but yeah, Aiden Hill, you know, he was his own worst enemy in that game. And it’s just this loss is not Aiden Hill. The goal didn’t get a goal, so that’s where it kind of starts and ends. But definitely Evander Kane and company were inside Aiden Hill’s head. He’s out there skating around trying to start fights, hitting people with his blocker and everything. And Steuart Skinner just sitting back there uh you know, eating some popcorn watching the show. But listen, Skinner’s not that bad of a goalie. And I put it out there a couple days ago before game three started. I said, “Gold Knight fans, Skinner coming in is not this woohoo, Gold Knights are going to win this series that they got the worst goalie.” No, that’s not the case. I mean, listen, Stuart Skinner is who he is, but who he is is a goalie who’s put up a lot of 9 a 913 save percentage and a 914 save percentage and a 9005 save percentage. He was 896 in the last regular season. And then of course the playoffs, he’s he’s now up to 857 with that shutout victory. But Skinner’s not a bad goalie and he needs to make his layups. And if he makes his layups, this Oilers team can go pretty far. I think the goalates only registered seven high danger chances. I’m extending my words as I confirm this in all situations. Five versus five. Gold Knights had eight high danger chances to the Oilers 11. So, it’s not like the Gold Knights didn’t put any pressure on him, right? They had some opportunities there. And I’ve talked about it so much here coming into the playoffs, the VGK droughts, and you disagreed with me that they don’t experience all these droughts in the playoffs. And you did. And I’ve talked about No, I was trying to remember the conversation. And they’re still And they’re still afraid to shoot the stinking puck for crying out loud. Someone stopped me the other day and they said, “You know what the problem is with VGK on the power play? They try to be too perfect. They try to make the perfect play, the perfect pass. And I’ve got to agree with that. And VGK only five shots on three power plays. And Dory, if I don’t care, hasn’t played a ton. First, no. Shoot the stinking puck. That’s his range right there. Right there on the right side. Setting up. As soon as you receive the puck, just shoot it. Just shoot the puck right there. They try to be too pretty. No. Um, I’ll give you two things. Number one, Coach Cassidy did allude to the power play being too stubborn in this game. Um, I’ll certainly give it that. But as far as the the too cute and the passing and everything, that’s what got the Vegas Golden Knights to the second best power play in the National Hockey League. Uh, those tic-tac-toe plays, whether it’s something from the bumper, something below the goal line, Mark Stone rush in the net, net front presence, etc. The Gold Knights had many different ways that were successful on the power play. No, I’ll definitely give you it’s uh you’re down two nothing, you’re down three nothing. You’re down 2-1 in the series. Uh shoot a little more. Shoot a little more. Shoot a little more. Um I thought there was a couple times on the power play there was some traffic and that shot could have come from deep. You shoot low, you shoot for sticks and hope to catch a rebound or a tip on the way in or something like that. And some of those chances were definitely passed up. Um you want to see a little more. Uh, you see Dorafia back on power play one, Olson on two, Theodore and um Theodore and Hannneathan going up and back as far as quarterbacking that top unit. Coach Cassy was spinning the dials. And really fast, we’ll talk about a little bit positive. If you uh saw my uh my my uh my prop I put out there yesterday, I I had a plus 860 out there for each team logging a shot in the first minute of the game. So that’s uh that’s where the good times ended as far as Vegas Golden Knights fans are concerned. But at least you could have won some money if you if you found that on FanDuel. Yeah, that uh that first period was so intense and a lot of fun and just up and back. Fun hockey. Yeah, it was really entertaining. Um and again, you can credit Chris Knoblock scratching Victor Arvdson in favor of Kasperi Kain who was a terror on the ice last night. Absolutely unreal. So great move by him again out coaching Cassidy and uh Troy Stetcher the reverse hit on Brett Hton that out of Sting and uh again he comes after Hen sliced him with his with his elbow or glove. I know and Ty Emerson was scratched last night. So two really good moves. Um, again, guys that are energy guys and they were just sitting on the pine there for the first three games and they come back in. Uh, they enter the series in game four and uh, so much energy there. Really? Uh, depth scoring. Dep I’m sorry, man. I’m trying to rub it in. Depth scoring. No, go ahead. I mean, I got here. So, you agree that Edmonton has the best of EGK? Ivington’s got the best of EGK in nearly every category, but depth scoring is certainly going to matter here. And talking really quickly, McDavid, one goal, five assists. You you talk about someone with six points like they’re not having a big impact on the series. Well, six points in four games, yeah, that’s good. But, you know, McDavid hasn’t been that Knights have done a good job managing McDavid to a degree and dry two goals, three assists. Yeah. So, basically, McDavid and Dry Cidle have have counted for three of is it the Edmonton Oilers 11 goals of the playoffs, I believe. I think it’s 11 goals if if my math was right. I I’ll I’ll verify that here in a second. I had a screen. I don’t see it anymore. So, yeah, the focus is on slowing down McDavid and dry saddle. Good. But there’s more players on the depth side, which I thought the Golden Knights could win that battle because you did see, you know, someone like a Brett Houden, Nicholas Wah, you haven’t seen a Nicholas Wah had a good game, but Brett Hen hasn’t done much this series. Uh Riley Smith, of course, had had a nice game in Carlson, but you’re not seeing that sustained there’s the buzzword. You’re not seeing that sustained depth by the Vegas Golden Knights throughout the series. Now, glass may be half full. that overtime game in game number two. That game could have gone either way. Golden Knights are simply one shot away from this being possibly a two-2 series. So, no doubt. No doubt. That’s a little bit of positivity coming into, of course, you know, not just one, but the first of three possible straight do or die games. It’s an uphill battle, no doubt, but three-game winning streaks have happened before. So, let’s see if it can start with one on Wednesday. The Oilers, I thought, had more active sticks last night. Now, I was yesterday. Oh, yeah. Well, yesterday going into the game, I was just saying that uh they weren’t in the right position and last night all the passing lanes were clogged again through the neutral zone. Uh difficult entries for the Vegas Golden Knights. Vander Kane comes to life. Uh six hits, a goal and assist, plus three, four shots in the game. And he was a difference maker last night, let’s face it. And I think he also um caused the turnover there by Mloud by White Cloud, sorry. There early on. Um yeah, I mean that that again that that just sets the game in such a rough spot, losing losing a board battle. Coach Cassidy talked about the races and the battle. The races. Both of us sound great today from this. Yeah, we sound terrific. Oh, it’s allergy season in Vegas, folks. Yeah. No, Coach Cassidy talked about the races and the battles. It’s it it’s squeezy level, you know, fundamentals we’re talking about here. White Cloud gets bodied off a puck and boom, it’s one- nothing. Not insurmountable. Even the two nothing lead. It’s not, you know, it’s a hill that can be overcome. The Gold Knights have did it before, but just nothing seemed to work. Barbashev has a breakaway early on or somewhere mid first period. You thought maybe if that goes in there some chances there. Um something I believe it was Riley Smith or Jack Eel, one of those two in the post game talked about the forche not being a complete fiveman for check. Just a couple of players out there and it was too easy on the Oilers last night. It wasn’t just about the Oilers winning a three nothing hockey game, but they punched the Gold Knights in their mouth last night and they punched him over and over and over and I think you said they beat him to a pulp and I I’ll agree with that. So yeah, what’s the response? Uh they’re worn down. That’s probably tomorrow’s episode. Yeah, they’re absolutely worn down. And again, a telltale sign of VGK not being able to generate offense. Uh so Cassidy with 446 to go. They take Aiden Hill out and they play with the empty net. Six on a six on five. No, the timing I’m saying was good. You have to try and gamble, but they can’t generate squat off of that. And to me, it was just so tired. And we’re going to talk about I think that’s one of the reasons why VGK was not ready for last night’s game. We we’ll get into that next right here on Lockdown Golden Nights. If you are looking for a snack that is both delicious and nutritious, you can crack into a good source of protein with wonderful pistachios. That’s right. Back on this grally edition of Lockdown Golden Knights. Tony Kardasco, Chris Gollik reporting from Las Vegas. Thanks for making us your first listen every day. And of course, don’t forget Friday’s WTF days. Saturdays it is the Chris Times Chris Jr. show. And I put up there on my slate today that’s playoff hockey. So now Bruce Cassidy updated his terms there and he said that’s playoff hockey instead of that’s just hockey. Uh so suddenly VK doesn’t want to shoot the puck. Edmonton gets the jump on BK and Cassidy out coached. We both agree in game number four and the Oilers were mad about that fluke goal by Riley Smith. You could see that they came out with a purpose and intent and they had a lot of intention in that game and uh attrition setting in for VGK uh physically and now perhaps mentally just beaten down. So, Mark Stone not 100%. Braden McNab not 100%. And after the game, I thought that Cassidy um his comments are kind of interesting because he said that he takes some of the responsibility, but he also said that the veterans need to know to step up in that situation. Is he relying too much on his team to just have its own control of the situation? And I I was kind of confounded there by what he said because he said, “Yeah, I’ll take some of the responsibility, but the veterans ought to know.” I don’t know how many of these coaches are out there giving what the Al Pacino uh what’s the football movie any given Sunday speech when Jamie Fox is in there crying before he goes out there and all that. Like I don’t think that’s that’s definitely not Coach Cassidy. It’s definitely not who coach Cassidy is. He’s not gonna, and this isn’t a knock on Cassidy either. He’s just not that motivational rah rah cheerleader type of coach. And he’s going to rely on the veteran group. He’s going to rely on Mark Stone to stand up and uh, you know, explain to the team what’s not going well and probably going to do it with some colorful language, too, as is an Alex Petrangelo and one of the and Aiden Hill. I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t put it out there. Jack Eel, Jonathan Marcho, of course, uh, for the last seven years before the off season. So, I don’t know if that’s the right way to to address it because at the end of the day, it’s on coach Cassidy. He did say that, but like you said, he also was quick to maybe not take all of the blame, but why wasn’t the team ready? And that’s the thing, like why, you know what Edmonton is going to do? You know, they’re going to give you their best game. You know, the Oilers are gonna give you their best game of their playoffs. They’re going to give you an amazing effort. And I just wonder, I don’t know what the preparation is. Sometime, you know, four to six to seven hours before the game, the line rushes come out. And that’s not the the beall endall. Sometimes there’s some changes that get made from the pregame skate in the morning to when the actual game starts. But what preparation takes place when they get those reports? Do they does Cassie just pin it up on the wall and here’s the lines and here we go or are they saying okay dry and McDavid are separated. What are we going to do? And I got to think again I’m not privy to these conversations. I got to think Cassidy did have a conversation with his assistants about what he expected with the new personnel in the lineup for the Oilers and the difference in lions and he wasn’t ready for it. And whether it was maybe the coaching aspect from strategizing or just simply the emotion, the crowd, uh, Oilers crowd, something else you’re not going to hear in too many other NHL arenas. They were absolutely remarkable and they fueled the fire. That was the Edmonton Oilers last night. And no, it wasn’t just about being ready, but we could have add a response as well. Yeah, there was no response in that game. And uh in this uh playoff season, Cassidy has been good, not great. I think we’ve come to He was great in the Wild Series. I think Tony, with the adjustments. Well, the only thing that kind of concerned me in that series was when he said they’re just going to do the same things and he wasn’t prepared for more physicality out of Minnesota. Remember? Yeah. They lost two games in a row. I get that. Yeah. Early in the series, he’s like, “Oh, yeah. They’re not going to change who they are and they’re not going to do anything different. And lo and behold, you dig a hole there because you’re not prepared for that. A little co speak in there too, Tony. I think that now that’s fair. That’s fair. But Cassid’s been good, not great in my opinion. That’s just how I feel. And you know, he gets out coached in this game last night and I think he’s got to have some tricks up his sleeve again. Like we’ll talk more about can BGK overcome all the injuries, but here’s a stat for you. The eighth consecutive game for Jack Eel playing over 22 minutes. We said they need to preserve his minutes. He’s not right. He’s either worn down from the four nations or whatever. Uh something is not right with Eel. Absolutely not right. He’s tired. He’s fatigued. And he’s the go-to guy. And if he’s not right, then how’s VK going to get there to the finish line in this series? Um, is Eel not right? Is Ekel fatigued? Is it a combination thereof? And yeah, four nations. It’s something that should and chasing around and I have to add, sorry to cut you off there. No, I was going to say what you’re going to say. Go ahead. Okay. And chasing around, you know, McDavid there. The the first game of this series pretty much set the tone that Eel, you know, is going to have to give up his offensive game to play defense. And it’s really affected this team. Really has. So Eel was now Ekeel is 10 points 10 games. It was 10 points nine games prior to last night’s shutout victory for the Oilers. In that time Eel is primarily out there against Baldi Capri off. Yeah. McDavid and Dry Cidle. So that’s definitely taking a toll. I think that is majorly taking a toll. And you know what the Oilers, you know, they get through the first and okay, look at the King series. I mean, look at the King series. Oilers fall down 02. Oilers fall down 02, but you know, wasn’t necessarily no damage done. And then all of a sudden, things start happening. Knob block, I’m assuming made some changes and the Kings got tired. The Oilers all of a sudden rattle off four games in a row. And on the flip side of this, we’re talking how easy, pardon me, we’re talking how easily this series could have been 2 to2. Just as easily, it could be 4. And we could be talking about if we’re going to see the goal on Bears best or Rio or Cascata this morning just as easily. That’s again the margins between winning and losing right now. And this all ties back into when it mattered the most. Why was this Golden Knights team not ready? We heard during the regular season how many times and throughout Cassy’s tenure with the Golden Knights, they weren’t ready and that’s on me. They weren’t ready and that’s on me. They weren’t ready and that’s on me. And that’s also Cassie being a good coach and deflecting the blame and putting the spotlight on him instead of his players. Don’t kid yourself. There’s other conversations that happen when Cassidy makes a statement like that. But at the end of the day when it mattered the most. I’m not putting the loss on Cassidy, but I am saying Cassidy definitely did not have his team ready to go and he got out coached by someone who has limited experience in the National Hockey League in Nblock. And maybe Nblock’s going to go on to have a wonderful career. And if so, full credit to him. But for now, uh, Nablak is not a Stanley Cup winning coach. He’s a Stanley Cup losing coach. Um, and we’ll see where Nablak goes from here. But right now, Cassidy lost that battle as he temporarily lost that battle in the first round against the Wild. And going back to this the Dallas Stars series. People hate when I bring this up, but coach Dbor, Pete Dbor co out coached Cassidy then. So, these are some things to kind of keep an eye on. I’m not Cassy’s job is safe. Relax everybody. He’s He’s the Golden Knights coach next year. I will Someone said that they were calling for his head last night. Listen, people are there was some of the Golden Knights fan base last night. There’s a It’s okay. Emotion’s okay. emotion is okay, but um I think a lot of VGK fans after that Riley Smith goal there that uh sends the city into a frenzy felt okay, they’re just going to win game four like it was okay, we have everything momentum going airway. Uh they did say they did say on the broadcast that Ekeel said that he he didn’t say that he agrees with Cassidy. They said Jack Eel believe he Jack Eel doesn’t believe momentum carries over from one game to the next. Why would So he’s definitely Cassid’s rubbed off on him for sure. Coming up next, what is the health situation? And how can BGK overcome injuries in this series? Can they stay alive? Are they going to be staying alive like John Travolta? Who knows? Next right here on Lockdown Golden Knights. back on this edition of Lockdown Golden Knights. That’s playoff hockey folks. Tony Kredasco, Chris Gollik from Las Vegas. Thanks for making us your first listen each and every day. Of course, we are the only daily VGK podcast. So, we’re very happy to say that Friday’s WTF day and uh um you’re just hoping that there is a game on Friday that we can preview rather than just spewing WTFs and BK staying alive. Two days of WTF if the Golden Knights drop Wednesday. Oh my gosh, there’ll be a lot of WTFs here. Um, so, oh, guess what? I heard from uh Jonathan Marsheso’s good friend last night. Texted me. And of course, you know, this team’s missing. Jonathan Maraso. Yeah, I got that text last night. Uh, what? That face. That face. What? What? What? It’s It’s low hanging fruit right there. That’s low hanging fruit. I mean, what? Well, I mean, they need offense, that’s for sure. He would have been feisty, that’s for sure. Sure. A lot of other things that go into that. So VK is banged up. Mark Stone surprised that uh he played personally last night. And then Braden McNab that shoulder injury still playing but not 100%. No Brendan Sad uh in the lineup. Alex Petrangelo, my goodness, he got just he got rocked a few times in the game and he got stung by a shot in the right foot by Nan Hopkins and a few hits there. The highman hit on him. uh the cabinet hit on him. Uh then he had a bit a pretty big hit, too, but that’s going to take its toll on a player like Pro uh for sure. But the injury situation not helping the Golden Knights. Yeah. I mean, like you said, Petrangelo Stone, Dorafia, BNA, Brandon Sad, and those are just what we see at face value. There’s more. And and to be fair, there’s injuries on the Edmonton side, too. No one is 100% when you’re playing, you know, on May 13th and when you’re into, you know, around the 92 93 94 game mark of the campaign. So, injuries are there. Okay. Not an excuse for fine, whatever. Um, but Petrael, we’ll definitely start there. He’s just going to the bench. He’s laboring. You can see he is he’s been a shadow of himself for a while and maybe it got a little better for a couple games here and there, but I don’t know what’s he somewhere between 55 and 65% maybe that’s even uh being a bit uh you know a bit generous. Mark Stone um I think he was okay. He wasn’t good. It wasn’t bad. I think he was okay. But he’s definitely uh you know in a fast series this is where Stone has to definitely find other ways to make up for. He’s not fast. He’s not as fast. No, he’s not not as fast. And Dorf, I mean, he had some shots last night, but he does not look well in this series. He the the the pace, the forche, the the board battles. This is not Doria’s specialty at all, and he’s hurt on top of it. Why isn’t Olivesson on PP1? Why’ they replace him with Dor? Um, I think they gave Olivon his game last time and then and then they went back to Doria. I mean, I’m with you. We can shake our head now and agree with it, but I’m not going to argue Dorothy of going back cuz he was part of that top power play units. Okay. Um Brad McNab Warrior. I mean, there’s not enough adjectives to explain what’s going on. And maybe um maybe the what’s what’s the word? Adrenaline got him through uh game number three. And that adrenaline kind of went away, I think, in game number four. And then like you said, Brandon Sad, I mean, having that veteran out there, that veteran presence, he’s built for the playoffs. and you know he’s not there too. So a lot lot to be concerned about right now and these players aren’t going to magically heal overnights. So between the BK not being ready in game four between the injuries between just I mean that gut punch the Golden Knights took it’s it’s going to be tough. It’s going to be really really tough. Can they get there in game five? I think so. Can they rattle off three in a row? It’s unlikely. It’s highly unlikely. But we’re going to hope. We’re going to hope. Well, I said uh going into this uh set there in Edmonton that I felt at the very least you win one game, you come back home, you settle matters and they’ve already won in Edmonton. So, there is a little bit a glimmer of hope for VGK uh to get this to the game six and potentially game seven. Yeah, in their head you if the goalies win game five, it’s in the Oilers head game six that if they don’t do this, they’re coming back to Vegas for a game seven. This is why seven game a sevengame playoff series is just so much fun because even when it’s a 3-1 deficit, the Golden Knights are one win away from possibly forcing a game seven. Obviously, the guy went two for that, but you know, you’re never out of it. I know there’s going to be a million times. I get all that, but it’s fun. It’s fun. You can’t get ahead of yourself. I got ripped last night again uh by saying that VGK fans will probably be selling their tickets. A lot of fans gave up. Going to be I can’t wait to go. And if there’s handshake. So be it. I was surprised that the fans were bailing out. It’s not typical. I mean, it did. Listen, it did happen when the Caps won the Stanley Cup. Oh my gosh. Did it ever. And the lights are dying on on the Golden Knights season and on and on your screen right now on my backdrop there. We’re losing everything. We’re losing everything. I wanted to ask you a question, too. Is something someone asked me this as well. Is something wrong with Barbashef? We’re talking about injuries, but he’s not playing his game either. What’s going on? I mean, so Barbara physical presence, you think back to him, you know, basically eliminating Rako Gutas from the 2023 Stanley Cup final with a legal hit, like a clean legal hit, like he’s not a dirty player or anything like that, but you really haven’t seen his influence on the game like you have historically. And maybe he’s just trying to focus on the scoring aspect. Uh, you know, again, the hope is on Friday you there’s no, you know, it’s not the locker cleanout day and the exit interviews and you’re wondering what these injuries were, but the reality they didn’t have any they didn’t have any last year. They didn’t have any. No, that was kind of weird. You’re that’s fair. Um, but it it will be interesting to see if the go again if it’s not over folks. Oilers fans and Golden Knight fans, it’s not over yet, but if the Golden Knights do get eliminated, there will be stories coming out about injuries and stuff and Mcriminal spill the beans on a lot of this as well. And I think there’s going to be a lot of like like there’s injuries we expect and I think the injuries we expect are worse than what we expect them to be. I think we’re going to see, you know, that broken bone, this, that, whatever. I think there’s going to be a lot of things that are going to come out right now. But before all that, you know, what has Cassidy got? Can can Cassidy find a way to overcome all these injuries and find a way to get the Golden Knights ready for game number five? And he has no choice. He has no choice. Yeah, he needs to uh empty the barrel there. And uh VK, I was also thinking as I’m watching the game and again the temperature was rising in this game. I’m wondering why like Edmonton didn’t follow suit. Remember teams were just targeting Mark Stone so much and going after him, but they just kind of laid off of of Stone in this series. Maybe he’s just injured and they feel he can’t hurt them, but they haven’t really picked that one player other than Hill now uh to go after there and to to get under their skin. But Hill’s got to be a little bit more composed. Petrangelo was targeted last night. Petrangelo, great point. That and that might have been more revenge than necessarily uh the game within the game. Yeah, they’re definitely going dry hasn’t forgotten. Dry and dry probably put some money on the board last night. That’s good. Wow. Interesting point. We appreciate everyone tuning in, especially our everydayers. Thank you so so much for putting up with my Barry White voice here again today. And of course uh don’t forget we’ll have a preview there coming up tomorrow. And then uh Friday, WTF and uh Saturday, the Chris Times Chris Jr. Show for my man Chris Golick. I am Tony Kasco. Hey, that’s playoff hockey. I’m Tony Kredasco from Las Vegas. We’ll see you tomorrow right here on Lockdown. Go the nights. And please take care.
The Vegas Golden Knights are now one loss away from being eliminated from the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs after Monday’s 3-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers got into Adin Hill’s head early and the Golden Knights could not rebound. The Oilers played their best game of the playoffs on Monday night. Who is to blame for the Golden Knights not being ready, coach Bruce Cassidy or the players? Alex Pietrangelo and Brayden McNabb are just a couple of the players facing injuries heading into game five.

It’s fine Chris they have had nothing to celebrate the last 35 years 😂🤡 they don’t have good oiler podcasts to go watch😂
Game 4 is on Cassidy. The coach even admitted it in his postgamer. Other than that they just seemed to use up all their energy fighting credit to the Oilers. They played a good solid game. But the knights dropped the ball (puck) Jack eichel shoot the puck!
Knights are a well rounded team. They are also a dirty team and poor sports. That slash on Leon and the cross check to the face the other night are prime examples. They should dust off golf clubs
Hill stuck his foot out to trip him. Well said
2023 was a fluke!!! These are a bunch of underachievers, NOT misfits!!! Dismantle this team and start over … Stone is an old man, Hill is robbing the bank blind, and Eichel is in waaaaaay over his head!!!
The Oilers are throwing 4 lines, heavy hockey. Hill completely lost his composure. How he didn’t get a penalty or two is bizarre. Nobody in today’s NHL has answer for a healthy Kane. He’s still just knocking the rust off. Vegas is wilting just like the Kings. Oilers are built to wear teams out.
I think the biggest thing Knights have to do is upgrade there goaltending and tinker with there defence
Kane did not run into him on purpose. Why is the media saying that on every channel and podcast. No one wants to Admit Edmontons a good team. Everyone just hates us since we won the Mcdavid draft. And if youbdont agree ypur lying to yourself lop
I'm assuming the "0.4" signs didn't work out as well as envisioned. Who do we send money to for getting another VGK billboard campaign in Edmonton if this goes to game 6? Great motivator for the Oilers.
I will preface that I am an Oilers fan who enjoys listening to Tony & Chris' take on the games. I have listened to them a lot over the last few years, and love that they are not "blind Homers". They see the game at a high level, break it down honestly and call it fair, they give credit to good plays even whether it's VKG or the opposition. I appreciate the slight lean to VKG and what they need to do to be better, and that is why I listen.
Form an Oliers fan, An objective review of game, good job.
Edmonton is such a weird team. The last month of the regular season, they didn't even look like a playoff caliber team. As soon as the playoffs started, they looked 1000% different.
The physical play Chris wanted in the series is working against Vegas because Edmonton is toying with them. Vegas will throw Hill away same way they did to Fleury.
vgk too old n slow i expected them to not get past first or second round. Definitely never wetre Cup team this yr. Shocked they finished as high as they did. Office needs to make a lot of changes no desire or hunger in these players. 14 players on it with cup wins. Edmonton wont win it tho either. I had picked rematch of last yr cup but not looking it. Love to see all canadian final to stick it to trump fuck
🤮
buy out Petro only 2 yrs left. save 1.8 mil n have 6.8 dead cap one yr n 2.8 for 3yrs after.
Oilers fan here. Oilers depth is playing better than they have in years. So many games won by contributions by the 3rd and 4th line.
We all realize this is not a cup contending team. They're what we thought they were at the beginning of the season. They pretty much resigned the whole team to long contracts. Get ready for the year by year decline. Borderline playoff team next year. As for Edmonton, fans don't get too excited. You're beating the 7th best team in the playoffs. Dallas is a big step up. VGK has few draft picks, and no one in Henderson and Doro is the only player with an upside and little cap space. It's an ugly future for this team. Tony, it's easy are outcoached when the other team has far greater talent and debth and desire. They look tired because they are old and slow.
Honestly I could tell Vegas couldn't win this game before the puck dropped. The sheer energy level in Edmonton could be felt, even the announcers were a little overly energized. There has never been a team that could beat Edmonton last night.
Least there lots of golf courses in Vegas
They gave up. It made watching the game very tough.
Great discussion fellas! Super juicy content!
Oiler fan here… I enjoyed your channel
I am PROUD to be a KNIGHTS FAN since 2017 ❤… 8 years total and THROUGH THAT they gave me EXCELLENT AND EXTREMELY EXCITEMENT OF SPORTS❤… GO KNIGHTS GO…
Hill was lucky to not get called several times on slashes. McNabb helped Kane into crease.
Oilers are deep and balanced this year, with confidence their able to roll all 4 lines .
Good job boys. Oilers fan here. Series not over yet. Jack Eichel is a joy to watch.
Great content guys, from an Oilers fan. I appreciate the perspective from the other side. Knowing my team, a 3-1 series lead means NOTHING!. I won't be comfortable until they get that 4th win, hopefully in game 5.
Oiler fan here. I do enjoy your guys views and content. I continue to listen to your guys podcasts. Good work
Oiler fan here. Great show!
You act like the goalie interference call on Kane, after the 3rd goal, was warranted. Newsflash: It wasn't! The replay showed clearly that Kane was knocked into Hill.
Oilers fan, just here to hear the media sentiment out of Vegas. This series isn't over, lots of work to do on both sides. Great commentary!
Oil fan here. Hill should have got 2min at least once last night VGK was gifted a few PPs. I'm gonna say we're even for the missed cal on ardvirdson
Coaches want players to shoot the puck if and only if the puck will stay in the zone. With the shot velocity in today’s game a shot from an angle that misses the net ends up at the redline on the other side of the rink opposite where the shot was taken. So you just can’t be blacking from everywhere.
lol what crack is Cassidy on saying the refs can’t save the oilers every game??? Hill tries to trip janmark then flops like a fish out of water, mcnabb cross checks Kane into hill but oilers get penalized, hill slashes Hyman and pushes him on his butt, Vegas looked pathetic and acted pathetic and deserve to lose the series
9 players on the oil have 3 or more goals. That's the definition of depth. The oil still have Connor and Drai ready in the chamber. Should scare any team.
Vegas fans are seriously the only other fan base that actually is respectful. What a series 🙂
Oilers in 5
Great show. Oil fan since 1980
I don't feel sorry for VGK at all whatsoever. GOG
Kane having his way with Vegas physically, Skinner looked dialed in. Bruce Cassidy cannot hand off defensive duties to Eichel against McDavid/Draisaitl and expect him to produce offensively. Hate to say it but it's Oilers supposed lack of depth that's beating Knights
Quality analysis boys. Cheers from Edmonton
Oiler fan here – tuned in to see what the other side are saying, because even though 3-1 up I'm still worried as VGK are a good team. Its not over until its over. Picking up on Eichel – is he fatigued from the 4 Nations? Definitely so I think because we have seen that also with the Oilers. Those players didn't get a break and that has worn on them – Ekholm out, didn't get a break, McDavid hasn't played well since and has suffered injury. Someone pulled out of it, who was it – was it Pietrangelo? Don't like the guy (slash on Dri) but he made a very wise decision.
