This series from weenie boy Marner was great for certified Marner haters like Pillzy and I. That iconic spin pass to no one and no backcheck, yelling at his teammates to wake up while he's gliding, Leafs fans booing him when he touches the puck. i can see mitch on the 2nd line with bobbo and cozens. i konw he is a 1st line talent, but having tim and brady already on the top line, there is a need for a shooter on that line. if mitch comes to ottawa, i can't see him making more than 9M here.
on the flip side. if mitch becomes the top shooter on the team, he has a good shot and we saw that when matthews was hurt, coaches need to drill in him a shoot first mentality and unleash that side of him.
do i want him in red, yes. will i be mad if steve passes on him, hell no. is he a fit on the team, depends on what is asked of him. this free agent class is pretty weak and of course there will be an inflated value for his services, but high end talent like his don't come to market all that often. i prefer boeser and bennett, but at the right price can buy in on mitch.
