The Detroit Lions Could TRADE For Trey Hendrickson IF They REALLY, REALLY, WANTED!
All right. Well, we got some alleged new news today from regarding the Cincinnati Bengals situation with pass rusher Trey Hendrickson. Now, I understand that the Detroit Lions are most likely like 99.1% sure that they’re not going to trade for this individual, but I myself keep holding out hope simply because that’s what I’m in the business of doing. Now, I want to put it very clear. I am not selling hope. I am not putting that out there trying to deceive anyone. This is what I would like to see. If the Detroit Lions could somehow make this happen and we could be apparently the only team with two elite pass rushers, then that would be awesome. I believe that that is what’s keeping us from our Super Bowl that Brad Holmes has built this team so well. But this one kind of niche here, this one position, he is just not properly fulfilled. And I think that that is the difference between us making a Super Bowl and winning one. I think it was the difference in 2023 and I think it’s the difference now. But over the past couple of days, just had taken some days off, man. Not a lot going on. Uh talking about with the Detroit Lions. Also, consider subscribing to the YouTube channel. We’re less than 30 subscribers away from 30,000 where we’ll have a giveaway at that point. But this came out a couple days ago. And what this is is Trey Hendrickson spent 22 minutes talking to reporters. Apparently, he showed up at some situation for the Bengals. He was in a polo shirt. He was in like some like he was coming from playing golf, like real talk. And he went on a 22minute discourse about what was happening between him and the Cincinnati Bengals. I have two clips I want to show you. One is 22 seconds, the other one is a bit longer. But let’s take a look at it and I’ll give you my thoughts on what he had to say. What we find out today from uh is regarding his contract and how I think the Detroit Lions could make this happen if they really wanted to. I’m a Floridaian, so there is unprovoked shark attacks and there’s provoked shark attacks. and the comments that are being made, right? What whatever happened at the combine, whatever happened at the owner’s meetings, and the text I got yesterday, um, this is not something where I’m just twiddling my thumbs thinking, “Oh, how can I get the next one up?” I’m a Floridaian, so there. Now, just to be clear, let me tell you what’s going on. He actually got a text from former players. He got a text from Zack Taylor, the coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, telling him that if you did not if he did not report, he would be fined. And that’s what he’s talking about as far as the text that he received. Now, you could hear the shakiness in his voice. He’s very upset. The Cincinnati Bengals are notoriously a cheap organization. They have officially, in my opinion, crossed over to garbage the way that they’ve treated their players. I didn’t know Andrew Witworth, the uh tackle for the Super Bowl champion Rams, was a Cincinnati Bengal. He wind up, I believe, going to the Rams after he had a contract situation with the Cincinnati Bengals. He went to the Rams. And Dominue, Alexand Watt have all interjected their thoughts onto what’s happening with Trey Hendrickson. And you see that it it’s not about the player in this situation that the players are going to take up for their brothers. And I believe that what’s happening with Trey Hendrickson is a travesty. So here’s the other part of that interview. Just again, this was a 22-minute interview, but these are just two small snippets of what he said. former players have walked in these shoes and what it foreshadows is not something that I’m excited about to tell my wife and family like, “Hey, this is I’m getting good vibes or should be happy.” Um, those comments stink, you know, and um, you know, that that’s what makes this place so special is that they watch me every day. They see how hard I work. There’s no other organization knows me better than this one. They watch me an individual. They see how I carry myself as a human being and they know me. So, it stinks when the value somewhere else because I was fortunate enough to have that trade um request granted whether it was one, two, three first round picks. I had no idea. Um, it gave me the fortunate like circumstance to see my value elsewhere and I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that and I truthfully will put my hope in that. Uh, ultimately though, my hope is in the Lord. So, you can see there that apparently Trey knows his value and he’s because he was able to talk to other teams about or his agent was able to to talk to other teams about a potential trade. So, he knows his value. Now, he threw he did say whether it was one, two, or three first round picks. So, I’m a little curious to know why doesn’t he know the exact number? Probably because they didn’t tell him. But, so I don’t know how that is going, but he knows what his value is. Now, again, keep in mind that the Bengals are a notoriously cheap organization. You can look the way that they treated the only person they didn’t really treat like that was Joe Burrow, but Jamar Chase, T. Higgins, Andrew Witworth, and now Trey Hendrickson. and they have putts Trey around for literal years. All right. Now, what is it coming out? This is coming from uh Bengals wire, which is I I believe this is the equivalent to like Lion’s Wire or something like that. Here’s what Mike Florio had to say as to what they’ve heard. Says Hendrickson is due to make$6 million this year. The Bengals, we’ve heard, offered roughly 28 million per year, whatever the amount, and as importantly, the structure he wants. We’ve we had he had a chance to get it when the team gave him permission to seek a trade. that went nowhere because no one was willing to give him what he wants, especially since they also would have to give the Bengals something in return. So again, it looks like that the Bengals offered him 28, allegedly offered him around $28 million a year. That is on the low side. It really is. his market value as we go to spot track. We’ll take a look at that in a minute. But that’s below his market value. Now, if I’m Trey Hendrickson, I’m also probably not going to accept that either. The way you have putts me around for years. You literally said if I ball out, you would pay me. And then I ball out. I lead the league in sacks. I’ve got 17 and a half. I’ve got 35 over the past two years. And you’re going to offer me $28 million. Okay. Now, trust me, I will bring this back to the Detroit Lions. Just stay with me. Let’s take a look at Trey Hendrickson’s contract, his contract details this year. We know what he’s going to get. He’s on the last year of his deal. He’s not going to play for this amount of money. That’s how it kind of comes back to the Detroit Lions. He’s not going to play for this type of money. Now, I understand that the Detroit Lions have to pay Aiden Hutchinson. There’s a lot of people Hutch, Jameson Williams, Jack Campbell, Brian Branch, Sam Laaporta, all of those guys. Jamir Gibbs, all of those guys are due to get paid in the next two to three years. We’re not asking for Trey Services the next two to three years. Now, I want you to keep in mind something that Mike Florio said. Mike said that the team the teams that are elsewhere opposite the Bengals are not really trying to give up a bunch of compensation and a bunch of money to a 31year-old or soon to be 31year-old defensive end albeit a really really good one. I would call him elite. But here’s why I think that the Detroit Lions or any other team for that matter can make this work. Let’s look at Trey Hendrickson’s market value. And then it’s something I very specific I want you guys to see. His market value is two years, $62 million. I’m not saying we do that. I’m not saying we do this. Let me cut back to me real quick. So, there’s a lot of things to consider here. He wants to stay in Cincinnati allegedly. Probably. I believe him because of his family. He said in this clip, he got to tell his wife. He got to tell his kids, but it’s not looking like it’s going to resolve itself in Cincinnati. Advantage Detroit. Okay. Advantage Detroit. I think when it comes to getting his hands on getting a team getting their hands on him, it’s going to the fact that I think that his draft capital is going to decrease. If the Bengals are really actually willing to play ball, if they want to hold him hostage, then nothing will change them. Like Miles Garrett, Miles Garrett, before he signed a massive deal, was allegedly being held hostage. I don’t know if you believe that or not, but it seemed like that. If the Cincinnati Bengals are really entertaining a trade from Trey Hendrickson, they will make it reasonable. They’re not going to say three first round picks. Nobody’s going to do that unless they believe that Trey is the answer to them winning the Super Bowl. like Matthew Stafford for the Rams in 2021. So, take the fact that he said the Cincinnati Bengals know him better than any organization. They’ve seen him. They continue to disrespect him. I think even though he wants to be there probably because of his family, he he would be willing to part as well. There’s there’s only so much disrespect the man could take. All right, so you’ve got if if the Bengals are really going to part ways with him, they would make it reasonable. Put in the comments section below, what do you think is a reasonable trade request? What would you ask for if you were Cincinnati and be reasonable knowing that we’re going to have to pay him? Now, he was allegedly offered $28 million. I’m not sure what the structure was, but allegedly he turned it down. So, how do I think the Detroit Lions could land Trey Hendrickson? Well, the salary cap, if you believe it’s real, then believe that the Saints were $und00 million over the salary cap. I I don’t even know how that happens. Now, again, I’m not saying I want the Lions to do something dumb like that. That was dumb. But what I’m saying is it’s possible if they wanted that to happen. But here’s how I think the Detroit Lions could get their hands on Trey Hendrickson. We talk a lot about mortgaging the future and selling the farm. The Detroit Lions probably would not have to do that. they would have to pay and they would have to give something up, but they don’t have to mortgage the future or sell the farm because you have deals like this. Now, again, keep everything in mind that we talked about about Trey, his feelings, and getting to the point of no return where you just won’t go back. If they’re not going to offer you what what you want, he’s already prepared to sit out. Somebody already said he’s he’s probably going to be Hassan Reic 2.0. That’s what they said. And that’s just a disgrace to me. That is a shame. The Bengals should just let this man go. Just trade him and get it over with. Get it over with because the blood is too bad. I myself don’t know how you come back for this, but I guess if I was getting offered $30 million a year, I guess that would make me feel a whole lot better. But some things are worth more than money. So, we’ve seen this something like this play out before. So, check this out. In 2023 July, Trey Hendrickson signed a one-year one-year $21 million deal. We’ve seen multiple deals like this. Multiple deals like this. Okay. Where a player signs a one-year deal. A one-year deal. I had a very spirit spirit discussion with Boer from Crunchtime Sports. We were on Twitter. It got a little It got a little spirited, man. Not going to lie. Uh about the the Trey Hendrickson discussion. And my philosophy is we’ve seen Denil Hunter, we’ve seen Andrew Vano, we’ve seen people, players get one-year deals, and they move on after that. No commitment after that one-year deal. So Trey got a one-year extension that I assume was the year that he’s in now or heading into a one-year extension worth $21 million. If we were to trade, you’ve got the draft capital and you’ve got the money that you’re going to have to pay Trey as well. So why can’t we entertain? Maybe we can restructure some things. Again, I’m not in in charge of the contract. That’s not my specialty. It’s not even my concern to know how that works. The over the cap guys can do that. Brad Holmes and his crew can worry about that. But I know it can be done. I know it can be done. And I’m pretty sure it can be done without breaking the team. Pretty sure. And if you commit to Trey or don’t commit to Trey pass this year, then that keeps money for the back the future years to pay everybody else as well. Now, of course, everything has to line up for this. The Cincinnati Bengals have to be willing to give Trey up for a reasonable value. Trey has to be willing to come to a team that may not give him a multi-year deal. And they might both be at that point. And that’s when you would have a team like the Detroit Lions ready to scoop up. Give him a decent deal. All right? So, if he’s making whatever he’s making this year, you incentivize that. And here’s what I think, too. Yes, Trey wants a long-term deal, but what are the odds that he gets that? It’s unfair. What are the odds that he gets that? Miles Garrett got it. Max Crosby got it. Trace should get it as well. But if he just wants to get out of there, he’ll do what it takes, adjust, adapt, play out this year, and go get his bag year after, whether it’s in Detroit or somewhere else. So, I’m kind of having the Detroit Lions kind of slide in at that last minute, slide in the DMs at the last minute, kind of take advantage of the desperation for both the Cincinnati Bengals and Trey Hendrickson. You get to a point where you’re just ready to go and are you willing to take a little bit of extra money, play up play out one-year deal, and keep it moving after that. So, that’s how I think the Detroit Lions can get their hands on Trey. Do I think he’s going to leave? I don’t know. The Cincinnati Bengals have all the power. If he sits out, he will still be on the on the team next year. So, if at least I believe so. I don’t think you can sit out and then your contract expires. I know Joy, not Joy, Le’Veon Bale set out then he he wind up getting released or something like that. So the they could do that if they wanted to, but as far as you don’t get to sit out and then your contract expires. At least I don’t believe that’s the way it works. So Trey is either going to sit out, he’s on or he’s going to be traded. He’s either going to get that deal or he’s not. So again, the Detroit Lions could be at the right place at the right time with the right offer and slide in. It’s just a matter of will are the Cincinnati Bengals willing to play ball be reasonable if how bad Trey really wants to get out of there and how much the Detroit Lions will be willing to pay. So the question that I’m going to put before you is if the Detroit Lions could trade for Trey and he was a oneyear deal, a one-year loaner, would you do it if he could be traded? If he was traded to us and for the 2025 season, would you do it? He would be a loner. You would give up draft capital. You would pay him whatever it is. You don’t have to like remember all the all the eggs are in Trey. Now, you’re not going to they’re not going to trade and then he doesn’t play or trade and he doesn’t play. But all the eggs are in the Cincinnati Bengals basket. Trey has like no power in this situation. So, he can be traded. He can be all of this stuff. there could he could even be asking for I don’t know where he gets to a new team where it’s no trade clause or something like that. So the Lions and plus this dude asked for a trade. So I’m thinking he gets to the point where enough is enough. But let me know what you think. I personally would do it. I would do it. I would trust Brad to work out the money. It’s amazing the stuff that he does and nobody really knows. DJ Chark voided years. We got mad. If you look at a lot of these players contracts, there’s a ton of voided years. And we traded we we signed a guy in free agency. Now granted, 10.5 million or 10 million versus 30, but DJ was coming off a he had played four games the year before and this man just came off our books. He played one he played 11 games for the Detroit Lions in 2022 and he just came off our books. You mean to tell me that we can’t do that and at least for one year be the only team in the National Football League with two elite pass rushers? Because that’s what I haven’t gone to look. I don’t really care what other teams are doing. I care about what my team is doing and what they can do. Whatever t it takes to get us to and win our first Super Bowl. I don’t care that the Eagles or that the the whoever doesn’t have two elite pass rushers. I don’t care. All I care about is winning Super Bowls. That’s it. I don’t even I I care about winning enough games to get to the playoffs, winning in the playoffs to get to a Super Bowl and winning the first one. After that, then maybe my take will change. We’ll see. But let me know your thoughts, man. Is this something you would do? What do you think is going to happen? How do you think this is going to turn out for Trey Hendrickson? I almost trade called him Trey Flowers, but what’s sad is at seven and a half sacks, Trey Flowers at the time would probably be the second best pass rusher on our team. Think about that. We can’t afford it, I love you bro but just let it go.
The Bungals suck told you this a few years ago Grid😂
The Bengals have always been cheap. The Lions are cheap but the Bengals are on another level. Mike Brown is one of the worse owners in the NFL. They didn’t want to pay Carson Palmer.
Listen we don't need Trey😂 because apparently Marcus Davenport is in the best shape of his life and will not be hurt for the first time ever 😂
Gud lawd let’s go, get your tear 💧drop merch
Trey would be a great addition if we can somehow pull it off, we play the AFC North and he would be able to get his revenge game.
The Lions like Marcus Davenport. He is signed and delivered. The Lions also like their 6th round draft pick. The Lions don't like Hendrickson enough to pay him $35-40 millions dollars a year.
The difference in the Lions not winning the Superbowl was Detroit having 20 players on IR, their top 3 DEs, 2 of their top 4 DTs, 3 of their top 4 LB (on coming back for the playing game not nearly 100%), their top cover CB. That, and the Eagles playing the Superbowl with 21 of of their opening day 22 starters.
Would the Eagles be Superbowl Champs with injuries to Jalen Carter, Josh Sweat and 3 other rotational DEs? I doubt it. The issue with the Lions isn't that one position. Detroit is easily a Superbowl favorite next season if they can avoid injuries at last season's catastrophic rate.
They lied to him, get out of this town, any place better. I wpuld do a 2yr deal only, but not breaking the bank which I think he would accept. A second next year and 2nd and 4th the following year. Young team we can do it. But I would not make it 100% garenteed.
They could but they don't want too.
How many teams in this league really have 2 elite edge rushers.
Fourth or fifth-round draft pick
Bring bk smith bc we can not afford him and all our core
Wassup everyone?? I'm still waiting for them to make a super move for the Superbowl!!
Don't you realize that Brad has been in negotiations with Cincinnati for Trey. You don't know what was offered and what they turned down. Until you know that how can you keep beating this horse when you don't know what was offered.
They can't afford him. They just can't.
You need therapy..
I would give a 1st and 3rd round picks. I do think with Trey, we might go undefeated.
This doesn't make sense.
You don't sign a 1 year contract in 2023, which he played, played last season in 2024, and still be on the same team and contract in 2025.
You can't sign a 1 year contract and be on a team for 3 years, on that same 1yr contract, unless it's a rookie contract, which his wasn't.
It doesn't make any sense. If I'm missing something, let me know.
I'm kinda skeptical about giving up draft capital for a 1 yr guy,if we could swing maybe a 2 to 3 yr deal with him that'd be cool, increase our chance of back to back Superbowls or a 1 yr with a prove it for extension clause since he is in his 30s
I would do it then if I was able to would try to find a way to extend if we could but I would definitely trade for Trey even if it was only 4 a yr. Now all of us Madden players t waiting for August for when the new Madden comes out so that we can make this trade or get Z Smith back to play with Hutch
