by the way how do we feel about the Nashville Predators everybody oh yeah I figured that now they are you might cheer for this the latest team to be officially eliminated from the playoffs money too and they spent all that money too one of us do at the end of the season are we doing that that look back and the dissecting of what they did in free in she how much of a failure this season was in Nashville uh yeah we’re actually going to broadcast it live from the side of the sap Center so for everybody here yeah I think so and I and the guy that stuck stuck out to me was one of the guys they spent the most money on Stephen Stam Co Steven stamp Co hasn’t missed the playoffs since 2016 2017 he’s only missed it once in the last 11 seasons and so I gotta wonder what a guy like that’s been thinking because this is going to be super weird he’s you know he gets into the bit of a contract spat with the lightning uh Julian brezis says yeah we’ll pay you 3 million bucks in over8 years or something some bizarre contract offer he goes no I’m going to go do my own thing dad and he goes to Nashville and everybody is expecting Nashville to be a strong team they made the playoffs last year against all expectations they were strong defensively and to quote Barry trots uh we never really came together that is that’s a quote from the uh uh uh yeah yeah the the atic trades and trades and trades and weirdly most of the teams I made trades with got better weird well so interestingly so Pier LeBrun talked to Barry trots uh earlier this week and he said I think expectations were quite high with us we never really came together so a little bit disappointing a little bit I think is understating it from my standpoint uh I then went into a bit of a next year mold I use this term clean the porch to set it up for next year with uh is that a phrase anybody’s ever getting a little bit younger no no emphatic no is it a South thing is it a southern thing oh yeah yeah isn’t he Canadian yeah but he’s lived I mean he’s been in Nashville forever right yeah I I use the term clean the porch do you okay uh he said we probably here’s what he said and I wanted to know what you guys thought of this and crowd 2 we’ll probably be a better team after this kind of disappointment it’s hard to be worse than like second last so yeah going to the sphere are they going to the sphere uh we thanks for askarov in the crowd yeah he said we’ll be a little more engaged to do better and we’ll stay with the plan now I’m curious about what the plan is but he says our plan has always been to continue to go younger in the next couple of years and what we did last year in terms of free agent free agent signings was to keep us in the competitive mode but this year we took a step back because of our slow start and we never fully recovered now guys before I get you to comment on it they do have some assets they got got three firsts this year two seconds and one/ third in the draft next year a first two seconds and a third $18 million is all they get to spend this summer I mean compare and contrast that with the sharks who have 40 million couldn’t be me couldn’t be me couldn’t be me now the one thing I’ll say is they don’t have anybody other than Andreas England expiring so they got 18 million that they can just add uh which is interesting I don’t know if that’s a good thing because you’re locked into this team and you can add to this team or if it’s a bad thing because you’re locked into this team that’s been really bad no no it’s a good thing for all of us unless we cheer for the PRS because it means Barry trotz is going to be very active at the draft like he’s gonna be making trades and that dude is nuts he is my favorite GM in the NHL he’s just if you start a podcast and you’re looking for things to talk about and you’re just like gosh what a boring day sometimes the content Fairy comes and leaves a video under your pillow for when you wake up it works just like the Tooth Fairy only it’s for YouTube and Barry Trot just imagine him with wings and a little wand that’s that’s him I don’t want he’s my f you do W to he’s my favorite GM is he wearing a diaper he’s wearing a diaper right he’s what the tooth he doesn’t wear a diaper is it a diaper well you know Cupid I got cupid in there see you know yeah that’s right Cupid and the Tooth Fairy are not the same yeah you’re right no cubid is actually far more problematic yeah we’re canceling Cupid we’re done with him so so um no more no more Cupid that’s right now listen out it’s a it’s it’s an interesting position that they’ve got themselves in because all the guys like you said that they’ve traded have done really well elsewhere and you kind of ask yourself okay so like what’s the problem with us man we’re the common denominator do you think that that introspection is happening or are they just going to keep that train rolling and should Mike Greer call them this Summer please he should call them till there’s blisters on his thumbs um yeah no 100% just text away uh with yeah CU I’m sure people here hate the askarov deal you know oh yeah brutal oh down with that oh sh so mad darn we got this great goalie you guys don’t want to rip anyone off do you you you would never want to do that and then he signed to a really good cost control deal oh oh no oh no and he’s look great man you can you can feel the guilt in the room it’s just palatable it’s just just hang oh we feel so bad listen it’s it’s very very interesting now the blues that eliminated them are the complete opposite story and I know that you guys probably aren’t great Blues fans screw the blues okay fair enough uh the blues are eight one and one in their last 10 and that last night was their eighth straight win unbelievable they are now Five Points up on the van boo ver Canucks for the final wild card and that race is really cooling off they’re two points away from Catching the Minnesota Wild for the first wild card spot their first round opponents if they stay where they are either the Winnipeg Jets or and Jesse I want to get your thoughts on that in a second and they could maybe squeak past the Wild and play the golden knights wow there’s so many nights fans here uh so so Jesse let’s start with the blues lining up with the Jets potentially yeah how do you feel about the blues chances in that series it feels like 2019 in St Louis like they have the similar Vibes you’re nobody likes that but it’s true you fire the head coach and since February 1st or it’s a little late did you say my ex like the [Laughter] blues since late January yeah that’s why she’s your ex yeah since late January the blues have the most point in the NHL no team has accumulated more points than the St Louis Blues and going into the playoffs that’s all you want to be you want to be hot at this stretch who cares what they did from September through January now they’re on top and I think every team should be worried about them especially the Winnipeg Jets who consistently underperform in the playoff why is that Jesse because maybe they have a fraud in net are you guys booing that Jessie couldn’t be Conor Jessie Jesse yes I H you’re burying the lead oh am I not only is it hella fraud watch it’s hell fraud versus Bennington again again what that was good oh we’re in oh we’re in America oh sorry no like the narratives going into that series are going to be insane yes yes so if we get that rematch is going to be a lot of fun and I’m favoring the blues just based on how they’re playing and how they’ve come out of nowhere really cuz I think everybody thought they were down and out for this entire season and one of Vancouver would hang on to that playoff spot or even Calgary would hang on to that playoff spot and they’ve come and they’ve taken it and now I think they can really pass Minnesota because Minnesota hasn’t had capriso for forever and that’s their that’s their whole team really and if they’re not getting like Stellar goal tending they’re going to continue to drop down so I think St Louis might even go high in the standing I think it’s interesting the the Bennington huk thing cuz they’ve kind of flipped countries in that Series right yeah it’s kind of neat right that it doesn’t mean anything but I just thought it was interesting now it means everything now it means everything that’s one of those huh yeah the golden knights have won four straight they’re looking to keep the they’re looking to keep the Los Angeles Kings at Bay yes what one person at the back cheered we got no we got two oh two three and the whole crowd turned around uh oh God I wish we got that on camera that was Unreal what are you doing here did you come up from La yeah they’re not yeah oh well thank thank you for   1. Hellefraud? Jesse is also the guy who said the Jets would finish below 95 points and Hellebuyck would be under .920 sv. If Jesse says something is up bet money that it is actually down.

  2. They got hot down the stretch last year to make the playoffs and it tricked management into thinking they're closer than they actually are. Add a bunch of flashy names without much thought for roster construction on top of a team that isn't as good as they think it is and voila!

  10. As a Preds fan, this season has certainly sucked, but I put more blame on Brunette than I do Trotz. Bruno’s “system” is hot garbage and he has admittedly “no answers” for how to fix this team. Our prospects and future is looking good, but we’ll see going forward. I really hope we have a good draft this summer.

  11. I have been a Preds STH for 25 years now, and I've not seen anything like this in some time. Trotz inherited a franchise that couldn't scout, draft, or cultivate prospects and it's evident in each of those first round picks from 2016-2020. They've always struggled to attain forwards especially with few exceptions. He undervalued Duchene and unceremoniously ousted him. Then passed on players that struck me as classic Trotz guys like Jason Zucker. I don't blame him for spending big in the off-season to bolster a team that was 10th in GF last season, but the asset management thereafter has been asinine as can be. 😒 This may determine hockey for the next decade here in Nashville.

  13. Of course, it’s hard to be a worst team. Bruno needs to go! I watched the Florida and preds game in Nashville and Florida skated circles around them.
    This is what happens when you don’t take out the clear garbage and hire an actual coach that has more experience.

  17. Just a reminder, Hellebuyck has been to the conference finals. Was it a long time ago? Yes. Was it more recent than the Leafs have been past round 2? Also yes.

  19. From a Preds fan, the bigger issue has been more around a roster construction and coaching mismatch. Burnette's system has worked as we saw it work last year and when he was coach in Florida. The difference is that with Nashville's current roster, they don't have the speed to play Burnette's system. I saw something that showed Nashville as the 3rd slowest team in the league, and Burnette's system puts that lack of speed on full displag when you look at the defensive numbers since Burnette's systems wants to heavily involve the defense in offense. Add in that Burnette would throw the team into a line blender the second anything went wrong, and the only constant the team has had has been inconsistency. It would seem a coaching change happens during the off-season, but no one has any idea who is going to come in and be the new coach at this point.

  22. It's been a while since there's been a video on the Preds, was wondering why there wasn't more coverage. Absolutely blew my mind with their performance. Was expecting them maybe getting to the Western Conference finals

  23. As a Tampa fan the downfall of Stamkos in Nashville showed that JBB did the right thing in Tampa. Would have loved stammer to stay but they approved tbeir roster even more without the 3 million cap space

  24. As a preds fan, if we snagged up Montgomery when we had the chance I think we could've righted the ship. But also I'm ok with the results this year. Getting likely a top3 minimum top 5 god forbid preds luck drops us below that. I'd kill to have any of Misa, Hagens, maybe shaefer if he drops low enough (doubtful)

  25. Ryan O Reilly is really over the hill and people need to stop assuming he's this Goliath difference maker. Stamkos was a good signing but without complimentary players, he can't do a whole lot.
