Steelers, Aaron Rodgers Getting Close?
[Music] What is up, Steelers nation? Thank you so much for jumping on to another episode of All Steelers Talk. I’m Nobine, joined always by my main man, Jacob Punuri. Find us on youtube.com/all Steelers Talk or subscribe anywhere you get your podcast, The Pittsburgh Steelers. Maybe, just maybe, on the verge of an Aaron Rodgers answer. We’re diving into that. Potential shots taken by George Pickkins, which only matches others who have left the Pittsburgh Steelers as of recently. Will Howard’s got some massive shoes to fill, but he thinks he’s going to be able to fill them. And as always, we’ll be answering your guys’ questions. It’s a rainy one still here in the Berg, but you go on vacation tomorrow. I get to go eat some good Italian food this weekend. Bright skies in front of us, my friend. How you feeling? Hope you’re excited. Hope you’re excited for uh what’s going to be a good two weeks. Oh, yes. Very, very, very excited uh for this vacation I have coming up. I was very, very excited to come on today. Okay. because I thought maybe we would not talk about Aaron Rogers or George Pickins. Um, I killed the dream. And just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. You know, lots of good stuff. But no, I’m good, man. Trucking through over here. Happy to be chatting with you. Happy to be talking Steelers as always. We can’t go a day. It’s just not going to happen until And I had I had the phone call today. Like I got I got a call first thing in the morning like before 7 a.m. I was saying goodbye to my wife as she was leaving. I was like, “All right, see you. Gotta, hello. One second. See you. Have a good day.” And the conversation, I mean, we’ll dive into everything I’ve been told and everything we’re hearing, plus what guys like Adam Sheper are saying. But on top of that, I got asked and I I usually do get asked at this point in this cycle, what’s the what’s the feel? What’s the vibe of this fan base right now and everybody in it and the whole situation? I’m like, to be honest with you, I think people look at it and say it has become much more dramatic because of there not being an answer over there being an answer and Aaron just not being here. If that’s what’s going to be the case, and again, we’d have nothing to talk about. So, shout out, but unreal how it continues, which is where uh which is where we’ll start. Adam Shaft went on ESPN Milwaukee and was asked about Aaron Rogers because there is one headline left in the NFL and it is Aaron Rodgers and he said that he expects the 41-year-old to be here somewhere within the next two weeks which follows a timeline we have presented for the last couple of weeks as hey okay otaas mini camp somewhere in that ballpark. He said this quote my guess is he’s going to wind up there. I think that we’ve heard Art Rooney, the team owner, say he expects Aaron Rogers to sign there and they have mandatory mini camp June 10th to the 12th. So I think Rogers is on the table here in the next week or so. Shfter says that I think this this morning, maybe early afternoon, somewhere in that ballpark. the I was told as of 6:45 this morning that quote unquote he’s coming. Maybe he pulls a Rogers and he doesn’t come, but it’s happening soon. Actually, I was told to start when I answered the phone, hey, what’s going on? Good morning. You got to start talking about Rogers. What else do you think I’ve been talking about? That was my response. and he said it’s it’s coming soon. Obviously, if it doesn’t happen, it’s Aaron Rogers and you have to expect the unpredicted, he said, but it’s all aligned so that it’s coming soon. And again, I don’t know what the exact date is. What I do know is I mean, that’s been the message for weeks now. Seems to be very, very close. Maybe we are coming to an end. Maybe pulls the rug out from under us. But what’s the I mean it’s a drastic turnaround from 24 hours ago when we’re sitting here going Rogers on the Joe Rogan show saying he’s not he doesn’t care you know he whatever we’re here and it’s expected in the next week or so. I mean do you do you believe anything that you hear about Rogers at this point? We are going to have a lot of the same conversation but this the first question always is do you believe anything that you hear about Aaron Rogers? Um yeah I always take it with a grain of salt. I always am just kind of halfbelieving it just to make sure I’m not caught unaware. Um but yeah, I I do think that what Shfter is getting at here is just a little bit too in line with sort of the the path we’ve been walking the past couple of weeks regarding Rogers. So, uh I think I am a little bit more inclined to believe that. I do think that uh there is a uh a decision coming soon. I do think we’re getting closer to seeing Rogers. I think we’re on the tail end of this compared to the start of the journey. As you were talking about yesterday, 60 or so days into this whole thing. I hope we’re finally nearing the end. Uh so I do have a little bit more stock in this right now. Never going to be 100% in on this until I see that man in a Steelers practice uniform at Latro or on, you know, in a preseason game or something like that. Did you get that, you know, the vibe check? Was it a good vibe check after you got off that morning phone call? Was it a questionable vibe check? What was the vibe check after that? That’s a great question actually. Um, it it’s a little bit like tiresome. I think most of the phone calls I That’s a great question. Um, most of the phone calls I have at this point seem a little bit tiresome, a little bit like, okay, we’re we’re we’re running through this. We’ve done this too many times. You know, we’ve had the expectation for too long. At this point, we don’t believe anything we hear. We’re just letting you, you know, kind of know what’s going on. And I it’s appreciated, but you know, it a lot of it comes with questioning about where the fan base is because I think the media has a better feel of where the fan base is than the team does. Obviously, you know what I like we don’t have a I don’t have a complete grasp of what’s going on. But I have a better idea than the guys who try to avoid social media because they know that it’s just going to be a complete hate storm and they would like to avoid that. So, it it does give me the vibes of tiresome, optimistic, and uh confident that they’re their guy, but but it’s died down, which is I mean, I guess again significant like when this first started, when you go back to March and this becomes a real thing, the the vibe is very strong. The vibe is you’re looking at it going, “We’re his best option. We’re sticking the same offer on the table. He respects the hell out of it. there are things going on, but we feel that we are aligned and and we’re confident and a little bit excited about the journey and everything else. And then it started to become more like, yeah, we we think he’s coming by then or we’re pretty sure we got him, but you know, we’ll see what happens. And I think it’s become less and less, you know, of a yes, like let’s do it. More of just like a it’s we’re a year, we’ve we’re crossing the finish line. And I it’s not a great place to be, but that’s that would be that would be what I would respond to. What’s the vibe? I I feel I feel it’s tiresome. Tiresome is the word. Yeah, there’s a lot of there was a lot in that answer. And I I appreciate you at least positing that there’s like a tiresome aspect of this because it sure let’s you know, we’ve been operating under an assumption for several weeks, a couple months now, that there’s going to be a specific quarterback in Pittsburgh and All right. Okay. Let’s keep walking down that road. There’s no reason to deviate from it yet. But yeah, it’s it’s it feels like the vibe is very different from, you know, when those uh those visit photos were coming out a couple months ago compared to where things are now. So, I appreciate gauging that with you. I was wondering where it was from what you’re hearing from your sources. Dude, at that point when it was when he was here and in the building, it was still like we’ve already surpassed excitement and it became more just like it it died down. And then this was that was like the last time that it felt good, you know, like it felt like there was optimism and excitement in anybody’s tone of voice, you know, was this was a really good meeting. It went really really well and both sides have a full understanding of what’s happening and what’s going on and you know where things stand and and that Rogers aligns with Tomlin and Arthur Smith and those guys and everybody feels good about where we could be where they could be. Um since then I I think it’s been constant communication but obviously you know you can’t hold that high for 62 days like it just doesn’t happen. you want him to be in the building. So, it’s it is it’s a weird weird situation. I still anticipate it comes and happens by the end of mini camp or by the beginning of mini camp, but I still think it’s ridiculous that it has taken this long. If it does come to that, you know what I mean? Like, think about the end of all this when it suddenly ends and he signs. He signs the day before mini camp. He’s here for mini camp and he didn’t need to be here until mini camp which means that there there was never a story. There was no story. There was nothing to talk about for the last 62 days, you know, and instead it’s been the only thing you could talk about because right now it’s when is he showing up? Well, nobody’s here yet. So if he showed up the day before mini camp on a contract he signed in March that there is no distractions. There’s no It’s just wild how hindsight how crazy it’s gotten. You know what this reminds me of? Yeah. Uh you ever see the show Finding Bigfoot? Yeah. Yes. I kind of feel like Bobo shaking the tree right now where I’m just like we got like six seasons of Aaron Rogers watch right now and we have still not located the mfer, you know. Dude, let let me ask you let me ask you from from like more of the outside perspective. I’m very interested in this more of the outside perspective. When when I talk about Aaron Rogers, okay, when I um when people ask me like about my insight and then how I feel about the situation, it’s different because my response is constantly like, “Dude, I I just want to know Aaron Rogers. Like I want to understand who he is and I’m only gonna get a year to figure that out. But I like I’m ex I need to know, you know, like is this guy what everybody says he is? Is he completely different? Like what is this? What is the enigma? I need to learn about the enigma on the outside. Do you does the f do the fans care about that at all? Like are they sitting around going like I gota I got to understand Aaron more after all of this. Or is it more just complete hatred want nothing to do with him? Well, I I don’t think it’s like one extreme or the other. I I think what I hear from you is there is this like journalistic curiosity of like wanting to find him out, wanting to cover him. And I I have that same um that same sort of itch to scratch as well. Um, but I think whenever like I was talking with my my brother-in-law and one of uh his cousins uh last night about you know football and just like all all kinds of stuff just like gabbing it up and yeah that it’s not a full like people don’t you know at least the sense I’m getting is they don’t hate Aaron Rogers. they’re not just like so checked out, but like no one is really invested in him as a person as deeply as um we might be on a journalistic level or from like a media point of view or something like that. So I think there is a there is a deep divide between that interest and the average fans interest in him as a person. I think that takes a backseat for most of the average fans because what takes precedent is just the quarterback coming into the team. And so, you know, people if people want to find out about Aaron Rogers, like they can go watch that Netflix documentary about him. They could, you know, find his interviews, you know, so like, but then also, you know, a lot of people will never actually have the opportunity to step into the locker room like you might with him in the Steelers uniform and get a chance to talk to him one-on-one or something like that. So, different totally different perspectives. I don’t think there’s a hatred. If he doesn’t sign, he becomes a villain, you know, in Pittsburgh for the next year for sure. Great move there. Yeah, true. In the meantime, it’s not quite that extreme. At least that’s what I’m picking up. I think people aren’t quite done with just like hearing about it though. Um that’s so if he retires, he immed Yeah, I guess he does like it immediately becomes a villain of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wait, okay. Who Who are people more upset with in this situ? And again, like I don’t have the answer to this, I don’t think. Are people more upset with Rogers for doing this to the Steelers, or are you more upset with Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan for for allowing to be the bait for what is now three months? Oh, it’s 100% on uh the Tomlin Omar Khan. Okay. I’m not sure. Yeah, I I as much as yes, I would it would be very easy to be extra frustrated with Aaron Rodgers and I think he would be responsible for some blame. He’s culpable on some level for, you know, stringing the Steelers along if he was just, you know, not interested in actually playing another year in the NFL. But I think really the general manager’s job and the coach’s job is to be smarter than the players on some level. And that would mean like uh not being outthought by a 41y old free agent quarterback. Like if you really like get into a position where you’re backed into a corner and you’re playing by his rules and he has the leverage and you don’t even know what the other alternative is because you don’t trust the other two guys you have or three guys on your roster. I would blame those people who put the team in that position rather than the free agent who was able to maneuver them into that position. Okay. Okay. Okay. I I think I agree with that. Like at that point it is you just and that’s that’s the end of it. At the end of this unless the Steelers become contenders and we might have lost Jay here, but that’s all right. He’s back. Um unless the Steelers become contenders immediately, you look they look like fools. They look awful in this situation. It is almost a lose-lose for the city of Pittsburgh. And it’s it’s just so so crazy to me that they have gotten here. All right, I want to talk George Pickkins and Will Howard here, so I don’t want to spend too much time on Aaron Rogers showing up or not showing up or whatever. At this point, we’re just we’re just waiting to see. Let’s go to George Pickins. Uh, next Okay, look it. George Pickkins is is all over the news right now for potentially taking a shot at the Pittsburgh Steelers. And maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. At this point in the offseason, I just don’t know what to take of anything. And Naji Harris was very clearly taking shots at the Pittsburgh Steelers when he signed with the LA Chargers. George Pickkins gets traded to Pittsburgh. I think it’s hilarious because you have the whole conversation of him potentially posting that that thing on Instagram or the comment on Instagram and then saying, “You lied after it got deleted.” And um I mean you could go back to all of the moments of just like, “Hey, George, this happens.” No, it didn’t. Okay. And then showing up in Dallas saying, “I’m I mean, again, he mentioned how humble and excited he was 400 times in that situation.” Um and and where they are. So, his jab at the Pittsburgh Steelers, as I try to find it right this second, because everything froze on me immediately, was I aologize. Uh, we did. Nope, this is not it. Where what happened to all my stuff? All right, here it is. Just everything the culture, too, he said. That’s the thing. It’s super refreshing being with a different refreshing with a different culture. Now, I’m trying to find the full quote here because oh, here’s parts of it. Um, but he started off by saying, “I’m actually like a chill guy.” The It’s like a big phase of a tornado. That’s not even true. I’m a chill guy who likes to work. And then he went on about being humble and being here to be that guy. And then he finished it off saying, “The culture is refreshing.” I wish I could find the full quote. I had it. My computer’s freaking out right now. I mean, George Pickins taking a shot at the Steelers. Do you believe it? Do you do you do you laugh? Do you think that it’s not a shot and this is ridiculous? I think that it is a very light jab from our our old friend GP. Um, I don’t find it to be much of like an impactful blow. I think it’s pretty funny. I think it’s it becomes easier and easier to enjoy and just find the humor in his uh antics uh interview bits, whatever you want to call it, um, now that he’s no longer with the Pittsburgh Steelers. So, uh, yeah, I think he’s really funny. The the the lines starting I’m just actually I’m actually just a chill guy uh did really get me. Um, that’s just I I think um I love whenever uh George Pickins keeps providing me with just ways to get out of arguments. You could just be like, “That never happened.” And you can just be like, “I’m actually just a really chill guy. I’m actually just a chill guy. I’m actually just a very chill guy.” Here’s the actual quote, full quote right here that I do want to play for you guys as we pull it up. uh kind of like hard work, you know what I mean? Just uh just a way of just keep going, keep going, keep going, you know what I mean? Uh that’s kind of what I feel like I bring from Pittsburgh to the Cowboys, you know what I mean? Just hard work, super hard work. Never get too high, never get too low. Number 13 story behind it. Uh no, nothing’s like really finalized right now. It’s just everybody’s it’s all it’s whole bunch of number. My guy Tan, he got number seven. Then you know, Trey, you see what I mean? So like everybody’s working right now. Sean, he said he beat you free throw. You beat him a couple times. This contest take place. Uh, I beat I mean the first day I came up here, we did a little shooting and I beat him. Then the next day he literally brought me up only to shoot basketball and then he beat me. So, have y’all done a dinner yet? Uh, yeah, we have at the Cowboys club. What stand out about that dinner? Just you and uh just everything. Uh, the culture too. That’s the thing. Like it’s super refreshing with a different culture. Uh, kind of like hard work. It’s super refreshing with a new culture. You hear that? You hear George Pigginson. Does it change anything when you hear the full quote? Uh well, I think that is where the only slight jab of this kind of comes out obviously, but I, you know, I don’t think it is a huge insult for players that this feels like the summer of breakups in a lot of ways, right? Like we you mentioned Naji Harris like it and it seems like with George Pickkins he’s trying to say everything to control the narrative on his side and the way that the Steelers sort of have by going about it with this um controlling the culture, reshaping the locker room makeup and things like that. And that’s their reason for the move. I think Pickkins is trying to sort of counteract that, control the narrative his way by being like, I’m a chill guy. I’m a hard worker. This new culture is what is really needed to bring out all of the highs. How steady I am because I never never too high, never too low. That part I’m like I don’t know how that’s true. The whole situation, bro. I’m sitting there watching the whole thing. I’m just like what who are you, dude? Who what is what are these answers? Because this is not what I experienced for three years of the highs, the lows, and the chill dude. But shout out to I hope he is. I agree with you. I like the controlling the narrative thing. I think that that’s very important here because I think that’s what he’s doing. Um I also don’t think that George intentionally takes shots at anybody. I think he’s a very direct shot taker. You know, I I think he’s a very like I will just pretty much just say f you somewhere on something to make, you know what I mean? Like it’s the the Jaguars shots that he took. He knew what he was doing with the Jaguars shots. Um, it was the the Instagram posts of Kenny and then taking the stuff down about the Steelers and then the Steelers again and like it just, you know, he’s very direct with this type of stuff. I think this one just kind of came out and maybe the culture is better over there. I don’t know. I don’t have the answer to that one. Shout out George. I guess the first date feeling those, you know, that new relationship jitters. You know, everything got has that rosecolored glasses too. So, he might just be like in, you know, like Dorothy stepping into Oz where he’s just like this, I’ve never experienced this. this is maybe it’s closer to what it was like in Georgia in terms of the facilities and the culture. I don’t you know and maybe that was what’s more comfortable for him. So that probably is true. That one probably if I had to guess Dallas’s facility. Their food spread at games on Sunday is unreal. I could only imagine what their practice facilities look like. Only could only imagine. All right. I want to talk Will Howard next. Will Howard, we’ve been talking about him all week. He seems to go simultaneously with or parallel to any Aaron Rogers conversation because the current is Aaron potentially. The future is Will Howard. Well, Will Howard’s got some massive shoes to fill if he does want to be that guy. He thinks he could fill those shoes. He’s pretty excited to fill those shoes. Talking to the Up and Adams show K. Adams, he said this quote, “They need a gritty guy. Growing up for me watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was Big Ben.” And Big Ben, he was that guy. He was Pittsburgh. He was the steel city, the bluecollar, the gritty guy. I want to be that, too. I want to bring that edge, that energy. I think I did a pretty good job of it at at Ohio State and I like to pride myself on that. I’m going to try and bring it to the Steel City. I mean, Will Howard outside of firing you up every time he talks, is he raising your confidence level in just his goals, accomplishments, and really the way he sees the city right now as we uh wait for him to kind of get on the field for for real because rookie mini camp is one thing. OTAAS and mini camp’s a whole other. as we try to wait for him to get on the field for real. It does he get you a little bit more fired up? Do you have any more confidence in him after every time he talks today? No, I don’t. Today I I am more confident than I think some people are, some pundits, some fans about Will Howard’s potential to be better than he most likely will be. I I would like him to be better than I think he will be as well. right now the the more I see and hear from him, the more I am thinking about like good job interviews and how there is some sort of magic in job interviews where if you say certain things and have an awareness of what the team is looking for or the organization is looking for, you can kind of tailor what you say and the personality you present to that organization. before I see him play anymore, before until I see him take snaps, until I see him command an offense and actually bring that grit and those sort of things that he wants to bring to the Steelers. Right now, I’m optimistic. I’m hopeful. Not any more than I was yesterday, a week ago. And I’m wondering, all right, let’s prove it now. Show me what you can do. I appreciate how well researched you are, how much you’re prepared for this, and how much you’re looking forward to this opportunity. Now I need to sort of see do you have those technical skills? Are you proficient in the baseline parts of this? So yes, um love love the interview process, right? Like he’s been crushing all of this. He’s been he’s made such a strong impression. I still am not more confident in his ability to be a starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers because of it. At least you know today, May 22nd, 2025. I look at I agree. I agree. What I like about it, what stands out to me, what I appreciate about this whole situation, and I hate to bring Aaron Rogers into this, but I’m going to. If Aaron Rodgers is a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, our conversations about Will are very different. It’s can he be the guy that learns behind Aaron? How much can Aaron help him improve? But it all revolves around Aaron helping Will Howard, but there’s a ceiling on there’s a cap on what Will Howard can do in 2025. You know, maybe there’s some conversation about if Aaron stinks, when could Will play, but it’s all around Aaron being the starter. Where we stand right now, that door is still open, which allows for your mind to start really thinking Will Howard is the second best option the Steelers have because if Mason Rudolph starts this year, fine. But maybe Will Howard can prove to be a guy that needs to put his hand in the pile, needs to be involved in the competition. Do I think that’s where I stand? No. But I enjoy I think that’s what’s helping Will Howard and really all of us is we get to concentrate more on Will Howard right now before Aaron Rogers shows up, which is nice because Will’s not going to see the field this season. He’s not going to be playing football from the September 10th until the end of December, early January, somewhere in that ballpark. like he’s going to be a dude on dude on the sideline unless something drastic happens right now. It’s cool. How excited can we get about Will Howard? I like that, you know, like I think I appreciate that we get a deeper look into this that he has that, you know, that that that moment to kind of impress us off the field and then when he gets on the field, we’ll see what happens. But all eyes will be on things for a different reason then. This is the get to know you process. And what we get to know is that Will Howard is a great dude. It seems like with a good head on his shoulders, seems like a leader. And if you do go watch, not even screws Ohio State tape. He should have said his Kansas State tape. That’s what he should have said because Kansas State, that guy was gritty. That guy, that guy would run right into you. No question. He did. You want to make the Josh Allen comparisons? Remove the arm and just put pure I will try to run you over attitude in there. That’s when he played like like Josh Allen was at Kansas State. He played well there. Um and I think that you know he he brings all that and he is showing and I that that excites me to me where we sit today. Will Howard getting an opportunity to introduce himself to us is all I need to know, you know, like that’s that’s enough for me to feel good about Will Howard. And then next year when some type of competition goes down cuz we’re expecting one to be there. People already familiarize themselves with Will, you know. So as everybody’s getting to learn the new exciting quarterback, Will’s still here, you know, and we already know Will and people like Will and I think that’s going to that that helps. Like it makes this stuff better, you know. We never got to really know Mason Rudolph. Mason Rudolph was always the guy in the background, you know, because he was behind Ben Rothosberger. And when we did start to talk about him, it was because Ben hated him. And you know, that’s where that’s what got messed up is is you already had a skewed image of this guy and you barely got to talk to him. Will is the center of attention right now. And I think that’s to me I appreciate it. Like I appreciate that we get to see that out of Will. A very fair fair and logical take from Noah on a Thursday. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate it. your uh conference level ever becomes what what what is do you ever expect anybody to be Ben again ever? Is that even like a real thought to have? No. No. I I I think that is an unfair expectation to place on anybody. I just I understand championship aspirations are, you know, what make winners thrive and you have to have that goal of being a winner. But to go in there with, you know, that unless you win two Super Bowls and rack up thousands upon thousands of passing yards, that can put you into what is it the top 25 something like that at least of passing yards all time. um you know, correct me for where I’m wrong there, but the standard cannot be it has to be multiple Super Bowls or nothing. And just I can’t we can’t discount, excuse me, we can’t discount how impressive of a quarterback Ben Rothllessberger was. It’s like saying to me, you know, why can’t the Chiefs just go draft the next Pat Mahomes? I know it’s not this it’s apples and oranges in terms of the quarterback comparison, but like these star quarterbacks, these franchise quarterbacks don’t grow on trees. It’s just because an organization had one does not mean they have the secret recipe and secret sauce to keep churning them out. Yeah, dude. It’s 20 years between Terry Bradshaw and Ben Rothosberger. And Ben Rothosberger, in my opinion, better than Terry Bradshaw, but different than Terry Bradshaw. And that’s to me it’s like don’t ever look for the next Ben. just wait for somebody to show up and become the next whoever, you know, and that’s how because it’s gonna be different. It’s going to be different, you know. It’s and and I mean I mean that’s exciting, you know. That’s exciting to find the next. But I think the Ben thing, cool. Don’t ever sit around waiting for Ben Rothsberger. I agree. I agree. All right, that’s everything on our agenda. We’re going to start answering all of your questions. I told you it’s got to be next week with the Will Howard. We are a week short. We are a week short. OTAAS are Tuesday. Not this past Tuesday. Next Tuesday. Dude, I don’t want another 10 bucks from Artisal Bully Kendall on the same question. Okay. I owe you so much money at this point because I don’t have an answer for you. So, make sure that you put it in the chat on Tuesday afternoon and I will have an answer for you. I promise. Will hard. Will hard. It’s It’s h a apostrophe r apostrophe rd. Will hard. I like I like that. I also like I don’t know. There’s there are there are a lot of the Will Howards out there and I love it. I love it. All right, let’s keep it trucking here. Berg fan Guju could be okay. OG Steeler in the room. Bring back the anti- perfect edge Ward and Harrison as coaches, too. Hines Ward and I I I am all on board. I’m a big James Harrison should be a coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers guy. I don’t know why they don’t have James as a coach to be honest with you. I think that’s a stubbornness thing on the Steelers side of things because I think James Harrison could be a phenomenal coach. He understands it so well. He came from nothing which means that he had to learn how to do the NFL. I think that’s very important. Hines is a good coach. I think he’s run that course with the Steelers. I don’t think he’s coming back. Um Guju, would you cons I think he’s in Kansas City, but if he like does he fit the bill for you if if he was available? Not any more than any of these other, you know, dime a dozen pick a veteran wide receiver that you could either get for a second day draft pick at the end or pluck from, you know, a a roster cut later in in training camp. I I really like Juju Smith Schustster. The one time I actually ran into him in Pittsburgh, he was the nicest guy ever to my wife and I, but so like I’m a big fan of him as a person. Um, but I don’t think he does much in terms of adding an offensive edge, anything more dynamic, anything that the Steelers can’t get out of hopefully a Calvin Austin or even, you know, a Roman Wilson, god forbid. Um, I I don’t And is I’m pretty sure Hines’s a college coach somewhere. Yeah, Arizona State. Arizona State. And I think James Harrison’s still like just doing his own thing. He was great in heels if you watch that show. you know, dude. So, you know how I was talking about the the interview the other day? It was for Heels. It was for That’s it was at the beginning of Heels. It was right before Heels started. Um, he’s actually made it known that he would like to coach for the Steelers. They just don’t reply to him. So, that’s a bummer. Yeah, it is a bummer, right? Like, I think he’d be a phenomenal coach in the NFL. Like, just let him coach the linebackers. and whenever he shows up, he spends so much time with those guys and and is like working one-on-one with them. And it I just I don’t know. I I think he would be such a good coach. Such a good coach. As for Guju, I think he’d fit the bill as like a Robert Woods if you didn’t have Robert Woods. But you have Robert Woods, you know, and he’s just a guy where it would be nice, don’t get me wrong, but if he was three years younger, there’s an argument to be made that he’s a better option than, you know, taking a shot on these guys. Where we stand today, I don’t think he is. Eddie the first here, GP just saying that what any new guy on the team would say exactly. I agree. I don’t think that George is a guy that will take shots. He will cause drama. He will start a rift. I believe all of those things. I don’t think that he intentionally took a shot on the Steelers here, you know. I think it was more of a said it and then everybody was like, “Oh yeah, that’s it.” And I was like, “All right, sounds good. Sounds good.” You know, that’s where we’re at. I don’t think he I don’t think it I mean I again I think it was a like a unintentional shot, you know, like all the times he like like when he gave up the Russell Wilson starring a quarterback like it mean to happen but it happened like it was it was there. It was part of it. It was part of it. Nate Moore here, my guy spreading out the ads today. It made me laugh. Made me laugh. And Joe, oh, sorry. No, no, no. You got You know what I think about when you’re reading that that Factor ad? What is the scene from Happy Gilmore when he’s doing the Subway sandwich ad? Like, I just I just picture you being like, I eat 12 of these every day to help keep me strong. That’s essentially what I do. That’s essentially it’s the it’s the I’ve talked to So there’s a coffee shop by us for those you who have not learned yet. Me and Jake live by each other. There’s a coffee shop by us. Um free ad here. It’s because they’re that awesome. It’s called Tazos. And they have these peanut butter balls. Okay. They’re peanut butter oat balls. And I I I have pitched to them more than once. Hey, if you give me a free copy of these peanut butter balls once a day, I will give you I will do an ad read for you every day. Every single day, I free labor for you in every video. I don’t care. That’s how good they are. That’s That would be it. I eat 12 of the I would I’d eat them because I’ I’d get the free one and then I’d buy one without question. I’d buy one. Easy. Easy. So good. And Joe, if Aaron Rogers made yesterday’s announcement 60 days ago, don’t you think a lot of this speculation could have been avoided? Why hold out until now? The him like kind of dropping that what it was or excuse me, potentially dropping what it was. Um, to me it brings up the same question, you know, like why why are you all of a sudden okay to say these things if you weren’t okay to say these things 60 days ago? And I don’t think he needs to make that announcement. You know what I mean? I think I I just think that he if he’s going to play then, you know, he plays because, okay, again, think about it like this. All right, think about the most dramatic situation ever. He signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers in in March. Okay. He commits to the Pittsburgh Steelers and then the middle of June shows around comes around. He doesn’t show up and then he retires because, you know, he’s in the same situation that he’s in now and he realizes that he can’t commit him his time to football. He has to commit it to, you know, his loved ones. That is equally as dramatic and way less long of a story than what we have been through right now. You know, like it just it just feels like we went the wrong the long way around this and have created more drama because of it. Right. And I think this is where as we were talking about earlier like the they’re you’re you’re checking in with different people with the team certain things like that getting certain information and updates um that is maybe giving you more encouragement and curiosity to you know uh wait this out be excited for Rogers to get here whatever the case may be when you’re talking to you know when you’re just like grabbing a pizza talking about Aaron Rogers that question that Joe is posing here is like the biggest one. It’s like why can’t you just say I’m going to play but I need to figure this stuff out or I don’t know. Don’t ask me again until June, you know, anything like that. And and it makes I think it kind of fuels adds fuel to the fire of people growing more and more, you know, uh frustrated, tired of Aaron Rogers maybe turning on him a little bit before he even arrives in the building. So I I think it’s you know it’s it’s a very good question and I think it’s one that I think is kind of driving a lot of people insane or it’s just keeping them keeping them up at night because you can’t you have no answer to the question. So dude exactly if you just gave a little bit it would have went so far and you don’t have to do it like this. You know what I mean? But if you were if you did it and you did it 60 days ago it would you’re not wrong. It would help. Egyp Egyptian rough neck Noah. Sorry for making your head hurt with my food questions yesterday. Going to Italy for my anniversary. Needed good food ideas. Thanks, bro. Fantastic. Crazy enough, dude. We got We got two Italy goers in the house today. Jake, what’s the food? What’s the What’s the go-to in in Italy when you’re out there? Pizza, obviously. Although, I’m going to be very honest with you. I went to Naples and last year for my honeymoon, and I just like I wasn’t a pizza guy there. I don’t know what to tell you. I wasn’t I wasn’t a pizza guy there. I wasn’t. I come that’s that’s where they say to go to like experience like pizza in the country. So I know I know I was disappointed to be honest. I come from a very different pizza situation though. I like I come from if you Google pizza capital of the world. Okay, not even joking. Old Forge Pennsylvania pops up which I don’t think is the pizza capital of the world but it it is a very good style of pizza. And I think I’m just like I’ve skewed, you know. Um, but what’s your go-to? I got some go-tos when I’m out there. What’s most of my I got two huge things. One, pesto. And you have to be in certain areas. My wife and I went to to Chinqiter for our honeymoon, and we learned how to make pesto there, and it was like the greatest day of my life, and I felt like I was channeling my Italian ancestors while I did it. Um, besides that, you just got to find some just like tiny any restaurant anywhere that’s not in a main drag of touristy spots that’s kind of off the beaten path, maybe has like three people in it and doesn’t open until like 6:00, and they will make you the best food you’ve ever had in your life. And if you’re in Florence, there is an incredible sandwich shop called La Fetuna, and people will tell you to go to another more popular one. Don’t go to La Fetuna. It is the greatest sandwich shop ever. A very drunk lady will make you the best sandwich of your life. Yes. Any time of the day. It’s incredible. That is fantastic. I’m going to go the sweeter side of things here. And I am a gelato three times a day type of guy in good old Italy. Like there’s no I am the second I wake up, I want an espresso and uh some gelato. like it’s the first thing on my mind. Last thing on my mind and in my belly as I’m going to bed at night. So, love it. I hope that you enjoy. Go get your sandwich and eat some gelato and have a great time, my friend. Have a great time. Marlon Lewis here. Was Ben this involved with Kenny? I know he had him on his podcast during Kenny’s second year, but wasn’t sure. The answer is no. I He was not like Ben and Kenny were not as close as Will and Ben appear to be. It’s early. You know, Ben could fade out. Will could ignore him. Who knows? But no, the the simple answer is no. Kenny was not as involved with Ben uh when he was when he was in Pittsburgh. It just wasn’t his thing. I still think he was still on the edge of like getting over the fact that the Steelers like somewhat made him retire and not wanting to be replaced. And I understood it. I understood it. So, but no, the answer to this is is no. Ernie Jones here. I have a bold prediction for you. We win in the off seasonason this year up to the AFC Championship. What do you guys think about that? Cuz I think we can with Aaron Rogers. Bold prediction. The Steelers end up in the AFC Championship game. Wow. No. Yeah. Too bold. Too too bold for me right now. Ernie, I do apologize, bud. I I yeah, I I think they would have to have a lot of dominoes fall their way in addition to Aaron Rodgers having a uh renaissance sort of year at the QB position. Um great goal to have. Hope I am so dead wrong by that. But uh yeah, I I it’s a bold prediction for me right now. A little too bold. I uh I agree. I I look at the Steelers as a playoff hopeful team that’s definitely going to win nine games at least. Where they go from there, I think, isn’t decided on the quarterback position, but rather everything else. If their running game is strong and their offensive line’s good and their defense is excellent, you got a shot to do something crazy that maybe nobody sees coming. If not, I’m not totally sold that they’re going to win a playoff game. So, I think a little bold right now, but I like where your head’s at. I certainly like where your head’s at. Heath Miles, don’t you think it’s a little early for there to be so much hype for a sixth round pick? or did he do that well in rookie mini camp? No. Uh Will Howard did Will Howard did a lot of this, my friends? A lot of I was like, “All right, that was awesome. That was great. You guys looked fantastic.” That’s that’s honestly that’s all it was that’s all he did for the first full day was him everybody’d run around and we’ll just go and I’m like, “Oh my gosh, dude. What are we doing? The vision. It’s the vision. That’s what they’re look That’s what That’s what rookie mini camp is. No, he uh he did not look like impressive enough to say he’s that guy. It is way too early to have any significant hype on Will Howard, but I, you know, I get the excitement. It’s not too early to be excited about Will Howard. It’s too early to to start really, you could look at him and say, “I don’t know. this kid might be able to turn into something without saying he should be a starter. I think that’s where, you know, be excited, don’t be confident. Two different things, I think. Your thoughts? No. Well, well put. Yeah, I think it’s just in general, it’s not just Will Howard, it’s too early to be too hyped, too high on anybody. And I say this as someone who is like falling in love with the game of Caleb Johnson, you know, before OTAAS even start. But before we see any of this in action, it’s great to be excited. It’s great to be confident that they will do well. But yeah, we the hype is all way too early just across the board, not just about Will Howard. Um but yeah, a little too much hype, but you know, it’s the offseason. It’s that time of the year. What else are you supposed to do? Just be like, “Yeah, you know what? Will Howard’s just like a 65 overall in Madden and that’s it?” Like I don’t want that right now. Dude, it’s that is going to be that’s a brutal day. You know, when Madden comes out and you go on and you’re going, “Let’s see what’s up.” And you’re like, “Oh, all my favorite rookies stink. What is what is h it took two years for Jaylen Warren to get anything above like a 65.” And I was like, “This dude’s a stud. Please, can we do something about it?” And it couldn’t it wouldn’t do it. They wouldn’t do it. Marlon Lewis once again, how much higher does Aaron raise the Steelers season? And does he change the floor at all? I I do think I think in an ideal world, Aaron raises both of these things. Aaron could show up and be 41 years old and stink, you know, because he’s 41 years old. That’s a real possibility. But I think I think if you look at the resume, there’s like yeah, it’s Aaron Rogers. You know, everything expectations grow. How much higher and if that’ll become the outcome? I don’t I don’t know. But they do both grow in my head. Yeah, I agree with you. I think the the ceiling is raised for sure. I will disagree with you, however. I think the floor just stays the same. I think the floor for the Steelers team is is very bad. And I don’t think that changes uh regardless of the quarterback situation. They could be very bad with Mason Rudolph. They could be very bad with Aaron Rogers. They could be very bad with Skyler Thompson or Will Howard. Doesn’t really matter. They’re the floor for me kind of remains around like a four-win team and I think that could be the worst case scenario again regardless of who is the starting quarterback in 2025. I agree. I agree and again like you’re hoping but it would not surprise anybody if the Steelers went on a giant losing streak this year with Aaron Rodgers or Mason Rudolph. Artisal bully kennel. The idea of discrediting Will Howard because of his draft pick is counterintuitive. Brady went in the sixth. It’s all about heart and proper leadership, development. He was a steal at the sixth and has great potential if groomed properly. Again, I I think this is true. I think this is all true. Like, you could turn Will Howard into something great. You could try to for sure. Is it going to happen? I have no idea. I would guess not. I would guess that it’s not going to happen. But I do I do think he has the leadership and the mentality and the football IQ to do these things. I think his processing is slow, which I think you could develop. And I think that his arm strength is nothing to be all worked up about, but I also think it’s NFL good enough, you know, which maybe is good enough to become something great. I I I don’t know, you know, I I I do think that it’s out there. I think that it’s the possibility is there. I’m not confident it’s going to happen. I wouldn’t bet on it happening, but would I be stunned if Will Howard is the franchise quarterback in three years? I don’t know if st I mean, I’d be more stunned that the first round pick they take next year isn’t than Will Howard, but I wouldn’t be stunned that Will Howard turned into something good. You know what I mean? There were quarterbacks in this draft where I would I would have been stunned if Quinn Eur turns into something crazy. I’d be stunned if Kyle McCord turns into something crazy. I’d be stunned if Dylan Gabriel turns into something crazy. Um, but Will Howard, I don’t think was on that list. You know, I think Will Howard was a guy that was in the middle of the line, third, fourth round value. I think he to me looks like a long-term backup quarterback, but I’m not if if it happens, I wouldn’t be like, “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this. I’ve never seen anything like this.” No, he fits the bill for that. He definitely does. Yeah. Yeah. agreed to 100%. My trouble with this argument being presented with artisal by artisal bully kennel is like the it’s not we’re not discounting him solely because of him being a sixth round pick. I I just I think when we use draft position, you know, I mentioned Lamar Jackson the other day going at the end of the first round to highlight like it doesn’t really matter where you get someone in the first round necessarily, but the larger more macro argument there is the draft is such a crapshoot. Like there are teams that are better at it. There are teams there are statistical more higher statistical probabilities to land better players at certain points in the draft, i.e. the first and second rounds. Great. But like you can get a diamond in the rough in any round of the NFL draft. You can have a massive bust in the first round regardless. I don’t like to I’m not discounting him because he’s a late round draft pick. I just I just don’t like I I was I I even pitched them taking him in the first round hypothetically. Like so it’s it’s all about sort of like team need evaluation, you know, crapshoot. It it there’s no set way. I have a hard time getting fully on board with, you know, there’s a late round steel, Tom Brady, so Will Howard must be given more credit or the opposite argument. He shouldn’t be discounted completely. But for what he is right now, we should just sort of be truthful. Yes. And as objective as we can be. Objective as we can be, which again, I think provides excitement as you watch him grow, but not the confidence that he’s going to become Tom Brady. You know what I mean? Like if he turns out to be, awesome. If he doesn’t, that’s what’s expected. You know what I mean? Like that’s what that’s what the NFL believes he’s going to do is not become Tom Brady. If he does, awesome. You know, that’s the coolest thing that could possibly happen to him, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and especially Artisal Bully Kettle. Especially because you called it, Miguel. It’s true. It’s It’s so true. Like, that’s the that’s the winner right there. The problem with all American pizza is too much cheese. It’s a peasant dish and toppings aren’t called toppings because they go under the cheese. Wow. Yeah, I know. I don’t even know how to respond to this. Like, I’m not going to say that you’re wrong. Like, I’m not going to say American pizza’s the best pizza in the world. I have no idea. I just Naples pizza wasn’t wasn’t the biggest fan of. Now, they have more traditional looking pizza in other places and I was all about that life. It was just the But my wife, you could tell my I think it’s the fanciness of it that gets her. But you could tell my wife, “Let’s make a little Naples. Let’s have a little Naples pizza night.” And she’d be, “Ah, yes.” And then she’d put on her fancy sunglasses or something. And she’d make it outside. And I think that plays a role. But if it doesn’t, it’s just me. Like I’m the I’m the one that has bad taste buds, I guess. What’s Are you a Were you a Naples guy? Did you go to Naples? No, we didn’t go to Naples on our on our honeymoon. Um, but uh my my brother-in-law speaks very highly of it and the pizza. He’s a he’s a pizza connoisseur. So, your brother-in-law speaks highly of Naples, Italy. Yeah. And the pizza specifically. Okay. Okay. That’s cool. So, different strokes for different folks. No, I’m not trying to knock the taste, you know. I think it’s me. I think it’s me. You know what I mean? I think it’s me. But I I’m gonna hold true. I think I got great P. You can’t I look it. It’s me. We’ll say it’s me. Lindsay here. Is the rumor true that Arthur Smith doesn’t want Aaron Rodgers? Um I have not heard this to be true. I’ve heard the rumor, but I haven’t heard this to be true. I he wanted Justin Fields, but he wanted Justin Fields to be the starter last year. This offseason, I think he would have liked or preferred a younger quarterback, but Aaron Rogers is a decent move for him, and I think he understands that. They had very good talks when Aaron was in Pittsburgh. So, I would imagine that they’re in a pretty good place. I don’t think that Arthur Smith doesn’t want Aaron Rogers. I I don’t But I also think that Arthur Smith looks at it and says, “If I’m going to be a head coach and and be seriously viewed as the next head coach in the NFL, a young quarterback that I turned into a great quarterback looks really good on my resume, you know.” Yep. Yep. Macaroni Salad gifted five all Steelers talk memberships. Shout out my guy. And let’s keep it trucking with Ernie Jones. Question guys, what wide receiver is more than likely we would sign to be our number two wide receiver of the free agent receivers out there? I I don’t know. Dave Davis is probably the first one that feels and and I might have missed if anyone else uh snatched him up when he was cut cuz I know he had to go through waiverss. Okay, so great. So, if he’s still available, I imagine teams are probably waiting to see um like updated medical reports or you know, physicals and all that stuff to see how he is from his injury from last year. But man, if he’s good to go and he’s available, I think he would make almost too much sense for the Steelers to sign. I would go I agree with that. I think he’s the only option that makes a like a bunch of sense for Pittsburgh to take a shot on. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Steelers ended up with a Keenan Allen or an Amari Cooper if things got real crazy there at the end and they just couldn’t come up with anybody. Do I think that’s the most likely outcome? No. But I wouldn’t be surprised if those names were brought up. Uh, Pittsburgh Hornet, is GP a chill dude who just got screwed over by AI? Also, thanks to all the moms out there. Shout out Oh, I knew that was going to get you. I knew that was going to get you. American Steel, who do you both who do both of you think is the most underrated and forgotten quarterback in Steelers history, and why? Great question here. Go ahead. I’m going to give you the floor on this one first. Um, I don’t think I can make a convincing argument for someone, but here’s here’s what I will posit. I think the most forgotten and overlooked, I won’t say underrated because there were some tough years, but Cordell Stewart, the farther and farther away we get from his tenure and what he was able to do on the field, he’s one of the first players that I remember like as a youngster, like watching and like having memories of him and being like very just like wowed by his athleticism on the field. And I think the the further away we are, the further removed we are from him playing, he he he was a a heck of a talent back there. There were some struggles, there were some disappointments. We came up short for sure, but man, for a stretch there, he was one of the most dynamic, you know, slash that was like, you just don’t see, you know, Travis Hunter is, you know, this uh two-way player today. these multi-position players ability to kind of move all over the field. It’s it’s it’s a rare rare art in the NFL. So, that was I think he deserves more credit. Dude, I I agree. Like you go through the list of like Bubb Bubby Brista and uh Tommy Maddox and you know Charlie Batch and all those guys that like came and went and Kent Graham and whoever you know like Cordell was the best one like he was the best one of them and awesome. Yeah. like he was like he was definitely before his time you I don’t think he was as fine-tuned but I also didn’t think that the NFL I don’t think that the NFL knew how to fine-tune him how to make him great at what he does you know and if he would play today I think there’s a better possibility of it but the answer definitely is Cordell like to me in my eyes Cordell Patterson Cordell Patterson Cordell Stewart is like he’s he’s up there in like terms of Steelers quarterbacks all time and it’s just like wild that he’s up there in terms of Steelers quarterbacks all time. Um, irresistible fan. Hey guys, this one is for Jacob. Keep bench cut or play, but we’ll go cut. Hawkeye, Hulk, or Thor? Hawkeye gets uh benched so quickly for me. Um, shoot. Uh, is that what the Yeah, he gets Oh, yeah. He gets cut. Keep bench cut. Yeah, keep bench cut. He gets cut. Go shoot your bow and arrow somewhere somewhere else. I’m not I’m fine with it. Get out of here. Okay. Okay. Uh, I am keeping Thor or benching Thor and I’m playing Hulk cuz when that that mfer becomes world world buster Hulk and oh boy, he is smarter than uh our our dear son of Odin could ever hope to be once the Hulk and Bruce Banner become one and unified. So uh the Hulk once we we reach ultimate power, we ain’t going back, baby. So Hawkeye’s gone. He gets kicked off the boat to use Noah’s term from yesterday. Uh Thor is waiting very patiently and the Hulk’s just smashing away. I love it. I love it. All right, Eddie the first here. Wish nothing but the best for Rogers loved one. That being said, retire. His mind won’t be right. Noah’s voice. What are we doing? I I mean, the argument’s there is if Rogers is going to be okay if he like you know y’all and but I will say this. I don’t think Rogers comes if this situation personally doesn’t turn out in some sort of positive light. You know, I don’t know what the positive light could be, but I don’t think that Rogers plays football if this thing if this situation gets worse instead of whatever better is is I guess like whatever better can be. I don’t think Rogers plays if it gets worse. Only if it gets better. That’s how I view Rogers. That being said, what are we doing is very, very spot on. We’ll finish it up with Adam Low here. What’s going on, guys? Hopefully the weather in the 412 is better than out here today. Your boy went out and bought a computer just to get the AS membership. Do we really want Aaron? He’s a tin foil hat guy now
Pickens is trash dude has butter fingers and cant run routes. He has more drops then DJ ever had and steelers fans blasted him and still do to this day but love GP who drops way more and cant run routes
Not even a "jab" or "insult". GP simply stated he was enjoying a new job with fresh faces – most people do.
Chicago pizza is the best!
What’s the deal with wanting a washed up QB?
Juju is trash lmao and jist because someone was a good player domt mean they would make a good coach people need to get off the hire old players to coach the team train it wont work. If it would they would already be coaches

If it goes well maybe it will be 2 years
I love the fact that he wants to learn

Hey about ready to unsubscribe Aaron 10 seconds IN ME OUT
A dumb question but if he does sign then what number would he wear like is it 8 I know it won’t be 12
