Rangers vs. Yankees Game Highlights (5/22/25) | MLB Highlights

That is Colonel Dwight Schmidt throwing out the first pitch to his son Clark Schmidt, who will be on the mound for the Yankees tomorrow. Now, Clark did not know that his dad was going to be throwing out the first pitch. So, pretty cool stuff there. Clark credits his dad, Dwight, for his mental toughness. He was deployed in Afghanistan twice. The numbers on Rodon, this will be his 11th start. He’s 5-3 with a 3.17, 72 strikeouts in 59 and two/3 innings. Sam Hagerty leads things off. He hit a home run yesterday. He’s hitting .296 with a homer and two runs batted in. Swing and a miss. Got the fast ball by him. One away. Young since May 10th, four home runs and OPS over a thousand. The pitch is swung on and looped over first. It is slicing fair as it dunks in down the right field line and Josh Smith with a little bloop single becomes the first base runner of the day and it brings up the red hot Jake Burger. High fly ball center field. Gisham comes on and makes the play. No runs a hit. One man left. Rangers nothing and the New York Yankees come to battle. Well, the great Nathan Evaldi on the mound for the Rangers. is a 35year-old so far on the year is 4-2 in his 10 starts 61 and a third innings pitch 161 erra eight walks to 65ks and a 179 batting average against here we go with Trent Gisham going to lead off and Gisham hits it hard center field but not going to carry as Hagerty tracks it down on a warning track for out number one Judge likes hitting against a volley 14 for 38 that’s 368 with 994 OPS and Judge works along. There’s Bellinger. 15game hitting streak. 3-2 pitch and a swing and a miss. He got him swinging. Just a perfect split finger fast ball right here on the plate. Bellinger way out in front. Two outs. Runner first. Here’s Paul Goldmith. Four for 15 against hit shortly. A base hit left center field. Judge will stop at second. Langford gets the ball into second. First and second and two outs. That’ll bring up Dominguez. Youngest players with walk-off home runs for the Yankees. Jason Dominguez slid in to the fourth spot ahead of Joe Deaggio with a home run yesterday. Hard ground ball first base and that one handled by Burger. Nicely done. Aldi covering and uh those two exchanging some smiles around the back. Inning over. Boy, quick two outs here. Bring it up to Boss. Two and two and a foul. Let’s see. Catches interference. Yep. Catches interference. I thought I heard two clicks. Catches interference on Hagashi. That’ll be at E2. Bibbos to first base. There’s PZA. Ground ball and through. Pass to Daring Simeon into right field. A base hit for PZA. Moving to third is BBOS. Going to second is PZA. Heads up. He gets a double. No one was there and the Rangers were sleeping. Boy, that was a wild game. That was really wild. And someone did not did not do their job on that because he just kept running cuz there was nobody standing at second base. The outfielder ran the ball in. And there’s Paracity. He’s looking. He can’t believe that there’s nobody standing at second base. So he dove in. Didn’t need to. So early big spot. Here’s Gisham. Ground ball right side this time. Simeon to his left. Has it easily and throws out Gisham. The inning is done. So it doesn’t end up materializing into anything. Good job by Aaldi to get through it. We’ll go to the third inning this afternoon. 0. All right. The former Yankee Kyle Hagashi leads it off here for Texas in the top half of the third. Nothing nothing after a couple of innings. Here’s Pit Swing and a miss. Boy, that was a quick AB. One down. Second strike out. That brings up Ezekiel Durant. Swing and a miss. Top of the zone. A strikeout victim. Back to back in this frame. And three for the game. Two down. Two gone here in the top half of the third. And it brings up Sam Hagerty. This ball went well out to left field. Dominguez looking up. That one’s over his head. Bounces up off the fence and out of the ballpark for a book rule double. Hagerty with another well struck ball. He continues to give really good at bats. First free pass given out here by Rodon. Now the Rangers have a couple of men on for Josh Young. Pitch from Rodon. Bouncing ball to third. PZA takes a step back, throws over to second for the force out. That was mighty close. Mighty close. They do get the out and Rodan is out a little bit of trouble here in the third. No runs, one hit, no errors, and two left. We go bottom three. So this is the 43rd plate appearance Judge has had against Valdi. The only pitches Judge has ever seen more. Kevin Gosman 52 plate appearances and Jos Burio’s 44. Valdi was behind at 3 and 0. He’s fought back to a full count here and he got him swinging with the splitter. Third strike out. three different pitches on three and 0. He goes with a fast ball at 95 for strike one to get to three and one. Then a perfectly placed cutter for full count and then he goes to the split finger. His best pitch for the swing and miss 2-2. And there’s a little tapper left side. Put some pressure on Young to make the throw, but he does. And it completes a one, two, three, third inning. That’s the first one, two, three today for Nathan Avaldi. We go to the fifth pitcher duel. Rodon againstaldi. Here’s Garcia. Swinging and a miss. Garcia down on strikes. One-two pit. Swing and a miss. Rodon is rolling, man. That’s his fifth K. Two down here in the fifth inning. That’s the second time he’s gotten hickey. Strike three. What an inning for Rodon as he strikes out the side. Garcia, Hagashi, and Duran. We’re halfway through. We go to the bottom of the fifth. Good oldfashioned pitching duel here, folks. No score. Yankees and Rangers. Bottom five. Here’s Vivas to lead off. Left-hand hitter Baldi. Here’s a pitch hit. Well, right field backing up Garcia on the track looking up. It’s gone. How about that? Orbit Vivas with his first home run. And the Yankees have a one- nothing lead. See youa. His first big league home run gives the Yankees a one- nothing lead. We’ve seen some first from the youngsters in this series. First career walk-off last night for Dominguez. First career home run for Bubos today. Three and two. Here’s the pitch. Swung on hit hard right side pass the diving second baseman Simeon into right field for a base hit. That dad strength coming through again. I think that’s it. So Gresham on first with one out. Here’s Judge. Judge 0 for one with a walk. He struck out in the third and a soft bloop out near second base. Simeon will take it on a hop and throw out Judge. That’s a second out. It does advance Christian to second base and he scoops this one high in the air out to right. Garcia coming in for it and he’ll make the catch and the inning is over. The Bbots home run though has the Yankees on top one- nothing. We go to the sixth inning. This 3-2 pitch in the dirt behind the plate. Ball four. He walks Langford for the second time. Well, big base runner. Wyatt does have nine steals, most on the team. He’s going and the one-two pitch is tall. Go down to second, not in time. And that’s a stolen base for Langford, his 10th of the year. So he’s in scoring position. Two and two. The count to Young. Swing and a miss. Struck him out with a half swing. Another strike out for Rodan. His seventh. That brings up Jake Burgerer. That one gets away from Scara. Rounding third is Langford. And the throw bounced up there by Ascara, but Langford stopped at third. Well, that’s big. Now that tying run is 90 ft away. Two two pitch. Swing and a miss. He got him. Oh man, he got himself out of trouble. Nicely done. Big time pitching by Rodon. Six solid innings of shut out ball. There’s the tying run out there at second. Two men are out. We get a pinch hitter here for Kyle Hagashi, Jock Peterson. So now they’ve got an opportunity to get out of this inning. Obviously a one-run game. This is a huge bat for Jock Peterson and a bouncer down the left side deep in the hole. PZA his throw is offline and everybody is safe. Inning continues and Josh Smith is going to pinch hit here for Ezekiel Duran. Yankees don’t even pay him any attention although he was being held at first. So this should be a stolen base for Jock. So now you’ve got runners at second and third and a base hit would give Texas the lead here. Swing it up. It struck him out. Wow, what a big moment for Mark Lighter Jr. to keep this a one- nothing Yankee lead. So Luke Weaver pitching for the third straight game he’s pitched in all of these games against the Rangers. He’s six for seven in save opportunities. In 20 games, he’s allowed just one earned run. So quick two outs. It’s Jonah. Weaver deals swing and a miss on the change. He closes it out with 10 pitches and the Yankees win one nothing. They’ve won four in a row. They sweep the Texas Rangers. Great start by Rodon. And then Lighter Williams and Weaver do the job. But Rodon six strong innings once again and the bullpen saves his sixth win of the year. So he’s six and three with an RA of under 2.9. He has been dealing for sure.

  1. The decline of MS and El Bombe, and the lack of production from JP must worry the Rangers. Add to that Seger's reg4uar trips to the IL and t is a problem. Too many big contracts to move to add bats.

  2. Let's go Yankees 🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾⚾

  3. As a Yankees Fan how can any veteran don’t want come to BX and have a front sit to see great young talent grow in front of them and help them be even better

  4. Do we even need stroman to come back ? Warren is getting better each start yarb holds his ground in a bullpen matchup
Stroman would allow 3 runs in the 1st or by the 3rd inning

  5. It's been years since I saw the Rangers hacking away so atrociously as they did in this one. Why can't Garcia hit anymore?
