Stall, orlov, svetch, aho and Jarvis need to step up.
Where is this #1 center stuff coming from? It appeared overnight. Aho has been voted as a top 15 1C for several years straight. He’s been between 10, 11 for a couple of years. This is in the same realm as fire Rod…and replace him with who?
He’s gotta stop with the praising of Staal and Martinook. Neither one of them has been great these playoffs. The only guy really worth a damn last night was Stankoven.
I’m actually glad to see a call-out. But I get tired of his love for those two guys. I feel like if it were up to him, he’d clone both of them. He’s gotta look at who is actually producing (Logan) vs who is “playing the right way” aka playing the way Rod used to play.
Rod needs to light a fire under their asses and bench guys like Orlov when they are having a very bad night. Also not sure why he rarely ever uses his time outs in games to try and kill the other team’s momentum
I’m not in their heads or in the locker room so I know fuck all but the energy from Svech, Jarvis, and Aho feels different this series and it has from the jump. Idk how else to describe it other than they look scared.

Down 0-3 in the series, with the wheels falling off in the most critical period of the year, this team looks like it’s out of answers. While I’d love to see the Canes rattle off four straight and pull off the impossible, right now it feels like a far distant, unreachable dream.

Rod needs to get it through his thick ass skull that not everyone is built like him, even though the end of his own career was extremely painful to watch, (Jordan Staal) They’re going to continue having these types of playoff performances unless some adjustments are made.
Either give Rod the team full of Martinooks that he wants and let him see what he can do with it or force him to make some adjustments to the system. Its seemed for years that the right hand (FO) has no idea what the left hand (Rod) is doing in this organization. They’ve got a team built on analytics and a coach that seems to completely dismisses analytics. It don’t make no sense.
Jeff Daniels belongs no where near an NHL bench.
For the first time, I’m starting to question if this core of players is the one that can bring us a title. The Devils and Capitals were easy marks, but it’s now very apparent that this group folds like tents when faced with adversity in the playoffs year after year after year. I mean shoot, the last time we came back from down in a series was in 2019 against the Capitals in R1. You’re never going to win a cup if you can’t even shake off a 1-0 series deficit.
Not saying blow it all up and tank, but if you find the right deal involving one of them (I personally think Slavin is the only true untouchable on the roster at this point, maybe Jarvis too), it is probably worth exploring just to shake it up and get some new skills/voices in the room.
I think there is just far too much comfort and a lack of hating to lose with the group we have right now. They got one whiff during Game 1 of what it would take to beat the Panthers and too much of this roster decided that ‘eh we got a few series wins and did better than people thought. I’m ready for my vacation.’
I trust Tulsky and Rod to get this sorted. Tulsky understands the players that work in Rods system and he will be strategic in how he acquires them. Nikishin looks great and we have a lot of room to make smart moves to put us in a good spot for next year.
