It really is wild to think how much the Mets outlook has changed in the last 12 months.
This time last year, it looked like they’d be selling at the deadline, including trading Pete Alonso, and were on their way to a second straight uncompetitive and embarrassing season. This year, it feels like they are underperforming in a lot of ways but are still among the best teams in baseball.

I honestly think firing Brandon Hyde was an overreaction.
Even though its only 3 more wins this Marlins team feels way different so far. Also seeing it like this really shows how insane the Orioles falloff is

Exactly half the teams are within 3 games of last year’s record through 54. It’s hard to make a big stride forward in a single season – and it *should* be hard to fall off a cliff.
Well, at least it’s going better than last year? That’s quite the low bar however
I’m legitimately shocked that the 2025 Nationals are slightly worse than the 2024 Nationals through the first third of the season. Going on vibes alone, this team feels a whole lot better than last year’s team, but maybe this is just my optimism for the future rather than 2025 specifically. Also, we’ve now played two games of the “middle third” of the season improving our record from 24-30 to 26-30, so we have an outside shot of threatening 0.500 for the first time this late in the season since the 2019 World Series team.
Currently, the Nats have a 0.464 win percentage. They finished 2024 with a 0.438 win percentage.
This looks bad as a Guards fan but then I remember that for the last decade under Tito, we have been a perpetually .500 team until the summer months and last year was the first year where we actually started hot instead of starting slow and getting hot.
