Team Record at One-Third Mark: 2024 vs. 2025

  1. This is a freeze frame of each team’s record at the exact 1/3 mark of the season (through 54 games) and their record at the same point last year.

The Braves were the last team to reach the 1/3 mark (yesterday).

Most teams are within a few games of where they were at this point last year. But there are also some big shifts.

  2. Gonna use this to claim “Dodgers are in 19th place, record-wise, and Yankees are even worse”

  3. FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED FIVE HUNDRED

  4. Although our bullpen is indeed trash right now, the doomers in our easily overlook this. It’s a long season. (But please, stop blowing games. Kthxbye)

  5. Oh, dear Rockies and Orioles .

Also, our -3 is likely due to various bullpen meltdowns in April .

  6. 2023 was a gift from the baseball gods for 2011. Now we’re back to being mediocre.

  7. The Rockies having the second worst record at this point last year and the second largest regression this year is some truly inspirational shit

  8. The 2025 Baltimore Orioles are truly one of the most listless, directionless baseball teams I have ever seen, top to bottom.

  9. Show this to Mets Twitter and you’d have half of them have an aneurysm about how if we could just hit with RISP we’d be 40-14 right now

  10. It really is wild to think how much the Mets outlook has changed in the last 12 months.

This time last year, it looked like they’d be selling at the deadline, including trading Pete Alonso, and were on their way to a second straight uncompetitive and embarrassing season. This year, it feels like they are underperforming in a lot of ways but are still among the best teams in baseball.

  11. the rockies starting 19–35 last year and still having the second worst differential is hilarious

  12. Losing Means, Bradish, and Rodriguez to injuries was too brutal. Add to that Cowser and Westburg being out this long…

I honestly think firing Brandon Hyde was an overreaction.

  13. Even though its only 3 more wins this Marlins team feels way different so far. Also seeing it like this really shows how insane the Orioles falloff is

  14. Looking at the Mets you’d think Soto was having a spectacular year or something.

  15. the fact that the Rockies are currently so much worse than the White Sox were at the same time last year is honestly insane to me.

  16. Exactly half the teams are within 3 games of last year’s record through 54. It’s hard to make a big stride forward in a single season – and it *should* be hard to fall off a cliff.

  17. Well, at least it’s going better than last year? That’s quite the low bar however

  18. I’m legitimately shocked that the 2025 Nationals are slightly worse than the 2024 Nationals through the first third of the season. Going on vibes alone, this team feels a whole lot better than last year’s team, but maybe this is just my optimism for the future rather than 2025 specifically. Also, we’ve now played two games of the “middle third” of the season improving our record from 24-30 to 26-30, so we have an outside shot of threatening 0.500 for the first time this late in the season since the 2019 World Series team.

Currently, the Nats have a 0.464 win percentage. They finished 2024 with a 0.438 win percentage.

  19. This looks bad as a Guards fan but then I remember that for the last decade under Tito, we have been a perpetually .500 team until the summer months and last year was the first year where we actually started hot instead of starting slow and getting hot.

  20. Crazy that the Whitesox were 15-39 and we were like “Jesus christ the whitesox have to be the worst team ever put on a field” and then the Rockies happened
