Would this be SMART or STUPID for the 76ers?!
Would the Philadelphia 76ers trade the number three pick for Cam Johnson? The Nets are expected to float Johnson in trade talks this summer in search of a second lottery pick. The 6’8 forward averaged 18.8 points and hit 39% of his threes last season and he could make a lot of sense on paper for a win now team like the Sixers. That said, Daryl my said he wants Philly to get younger, not older. And all the reporting around the Sixers suggests that trading out of the pick entirely is out of the question. If the Nets are willing to entertain trading Johnson and the eighth pick to move up to number three, then the Sixers probably say yes without hesitation, but I’m not sure that’s good value for Brooklyn, unless it’s one of their lower first round picks. Johnson was impressive on a bad Nets roster last season. In theory, he’s everything the Sixers team covets as a sharpshooting wing with size. While the Sixers absolutely should take interest, it’s hard to imagine Philly moving out of the lottery completely, and other teams are bound to take an interest in the UNCC product. New Orleans, anyone?
