“[Brad Marchand] is a unique human.” | Paul Maurice SCF Game 2 Reaction | 6.6.25
sorry to keep you all waiting sam Bennett will be available tomorrow morning for anybody who wants to know what Brad Marian had for breakfast questions for coach tight people i turned into a pumpkin at midnight right side up front tom I’m gonna ask you about Sam Bennett then because uh he broke a record for most goals on the road in the playoffs how is he doing is there something about his game that he’s scoring more on the road and just how important has he been to your road success as a team in the playoffs well tonight was 12 was it not well that’s part of it just we’ve started and played most of our playoff lives here this year on the road and then there is no part of his game that changes home to road it he’s not intimidated by anything he’s he’s not a home performer and he’s not a matchup guy he’ll play against anybody right side second row uh Brad Marshan and Cory Perry they’re not old for the earth but they’re old for the NHL what is it when you see guys like that specifically Marshan sort of still be able to perform and produce at their ages well I think we’re coming into an age of that these these men now that have come into the league probably post 2000 after that the fitness level the uh sports science that goes into it is just completely different than when I started so you’re going to see two things that have changed 2006 um the rules changed for so younger skilled players could play early and the science that’s changed over the last 20 years will allow these players to recover faster um you know what and a credit to the owners in the National Hockey League the amount of money that’s put into teams and I more directly I’ve been very fortunate with the owners of the teams they have a tremendous amount of care for the players whether that’s the meals that they eat how we travel um there’s a lot of money that goes into allowing these players to play so the old guys and the young guys benefit from the rule change and they’re just they’re better fit conditioned athletes over their entire lives left side third row got a problem with your mic there big boy that’s right we’ll just keep this between the two of us gustaf Forsling just in all the the plays he killed tonight and the stick he had just you know disrupting Edmonton’s attack so often i agree so he he’s one of the elite skating defenseman in the league most elite skating defenseman have a completely offensive bent right that’s so if you skate that well as a young man you’re put into offensive situations you become a power play guy um but he’s just taken that skill and applied it to the defensive side of the game and to fully appreciate you’d have to be down at ice level to see how fast Conor McDavid is and and Leon D they got a very fast team so he but he excels in that game right side third row paul um Nate and Brad Marian had runins earlier this season what what’s allowed Brad to just together yeah on the ice when he was in Boston oh yeah yeah any anyways what what uh what’s allowed Brad to just seamlessly fit into this group and what’s it like watching Brad Marian score big goals for the Florida Panthers brad’s an honest man and that’s why he fits in our room he loves the game he loves the people around him he’s very open very gregarious so it just fits right in completely accepted an incredibly positive human being and he’s up and down our bench all the time just pumping tires stay in the fight but he is going to be at well you’ll have to ask Sam Bennett but he is going to be the same way at breakfast tomorrow morning right he’s just going to be jacked high-fiving everybody at the tables so Sam will tell you right side second row uh I guess just building on that Paul u Matthew Kachchuck is marveling at the Brad Marshon he sees sees between periods saying how he doesn’t really sit still what have you observed from Brad between periods well I get all those stories secondhand because I don’t hang out in the room very much um but I have heard that consistently some players but trainers right medical guys the guys that are around in the room where the players are are open with them yeah i mean I don’t know what time he’s getting up tomorrow but he’ll be on and uh and he won’t stop till he shuts her down so he he is truly he is a unique human like he like in the northern parlayans he’s a beauty left side up front uh Paul um you know you guys played such an exceptional game and last three four minutes you’re getting great plays by Lucenan and Forsling and Rodriguez and and then they score and I know you guys are a strong-minded mentally strong team how did you handle that uh you know at that point at that position that’s the tough challenge because I I liked our game i thought we were better in the areas that we weren’t great in game one i thought we were fine i’m I’m completely accepting of the fact that both of these games went into overtime i don’t think it’s a failure to do that but when you give one up that late right you’re kind of So I didn’t love our our overtime we’ll focus on that and then even the goal um I liked our second overtime period i thought we were right there they had some chances we had chances a really good team were playing and we’re a really good team but I didn’t love that so that will be our place of growth here in the next couple of days what happened after but we did hold you know we were able to hold sam Reinard’s got a breakaway most times i’ve seen that the game’s over but it doesn’t happen so you start to kind of you’re grinding it but it never went to despair it’s It stayed at stay in the fight right side second row we got numbers got time for two more oh two paul um over here uh thank you for that no problem thank you um what going off the the last answer you’re so you know your team could have been crushed giving up a late goal like that instead Matthew Kachchuk is saying guys are laughing and volunteering who’s going to score right overtime what does that say about the bounceback in the character of inside your room yeah it’s not new and there is I I I think experience is wholly overvalued in the world but I think in kind of playoff hockey there’s a great value to it and hearing that kind of positive idea right nobody’s crushed about it nobody’s trying to kill who missed the puck on the last goal they’re not looking to blame anybody thomas Nosk by the way played a hell of a game tonight that’s not coaching that’s that’s him going back into the room and feeling really good about next game next shift all the all the cliches so they’ve just done it before we’ve been in some tough spots and and found a way last one left side third row paul what do you what do you think stood out the most about Bob’s effort specifically in that first overtime when you said you didn’t like your game but him being able to keep you guys in it to until that second OT i I don’t think that uh we talk about the two goalies enough in this series right like there were some good saves made at both highend saves i mean there’s some world class shooters here and there’s some stuff that just doesn’t quite go in but you watch that tight on video tomorrow going “Oh that was a hell of a save.” Like that’s the that’s the changer both goalies have been outstanding in this series i mean we’re playing what do we got you know 4-3 game 5-4 game and both teams are playing well defensively that’s how good the offense is and then with that like yeah I almost leave the bench thinking this thing could be 87 and you could still be happy with your game and great goalending so the goalies have been really good thanks for your time all right thank you

Marchand fits in too well with this team. I've always wanted him as a Red Wing but I really like him as a Cat. I think he is having more fun here than he would in Detroit anyways
At the tail end of his career, Brad has found the home he's always needed. It's like a team built around the concept of Brad Marchand, but scaled to everyone.
when will he address the powerplay it is fucking awful. get bennett on PP1
I’m a Canadian, oilers suck, but McMuffin is best player in the league, but he is not enough to get a Stanley cup for oilers.
I think McMuffin will go down in history as best player to “never win a Stanley cup”!!!!
Нервный тренер
Reporters are freaking morons.
Paul Maurice with the Cinderella line lmfao
Play the 4th line more, Paul! THEY ARE AMPED THE EFF UP OUT THERE
jones goal and winning has extracted from Chi Town!
Paul looks upset….
Resign the 🐀 we got the split, go Panthers.
Paul is a**** quitter he quit on Winnipeg
Anybody who's coached the last thing you tell your team no matter what the score is don't quit play to the end play to the whistle…. Paul should practice what he preaches
Our Panthers are a group of unique individuals. They always find a way in the game to grind it shift by shift to reach a victory. LOVE THESE PANTHERS!!!
Go Panthers! Coming from Saskatchewan 🇨🇦
EDM: effort 100%, skill 100, joy of play 90%. FLA: effort 100%, skill 90%, joy of play 110%
I love that he doesnt answer questions like a player with a bunch of garbage hockey clichés. Most interviews in the NHL are completely useless and pointless. He actually answers questions thoughtfully. It's so god damn refreshing.
As an oiler fans it annoys me how classy this coach is
I keep saying it: as an outside neutral hockey fan, the Florida Panthers are the only team that looks like they're having fun, and that vibe is clearly paying off! They never get too low and never forget that they are playing a game and that positivity shows up on the scoreboard.
Let’s go PANTHERS ❤🎉 The leaders of this team have to start scoring more! It can’t be just one 40 year old guy who saves the day!! Everyone on this roster needs to find their goal scoring ability now not later!!
Man's sharp as a tack, has absolute confidence in his team and his coaching and overall communication skills make him the best coach in this league. 3 finals trips in a row says plenty about him too.
🤔 an interesting point brought up last night, DrySaddle might have an illegal stick. I remember watching the Kings vs. Habs when McSorely got busted. I would laugh my butt off if Drai was caught cheating.
Go Cats Go!
Love sent to S. Florida from the oven known as Vegas.
Can we talk about lundell just feeding the team apples 🍎 all day or forslings incredible defense or barkovs dominance on puck drops or even bobby being bobby this team is awesome!!!! …. That kick save shortly before the game tying goal was absolutely unreal
I love paul maurice 😂😂😂 he is the perfect fit as coach for this team of instigators led by coach instigator 🤣…. I think instigators describes this team perfectly gritty yes but there grit is based on instigation
There are 5 ex Bruins in this series. Boston has so many former players still playing elsewhere. Like the Red Sox fans, Boston hockey fans have long lamented in jest "Why can't we get players like that?" Bruins have, for years, had a revolving door for third and fourth liners. Nosek is an example. Never deserved getting let go. Marchand? If you didn't know…a 200 foot player.
So have we Pauly so have we……….oil in 5
Excellent work Corey! It's going to be a tough road to hoe moving forward with the independence movement in Alberta. The indigenous and those others of the fringe minority, who believe they have the right to speak for Albertans and Canadians rights, are ignorant and continue to spread these lies…or better known as misinformation or bullshit!
Thanks for standing up for Albertans!
I just love this man. Coach Maurice were not ready for you yet….but in some years, Detroit!!!!
You da man Paul!
Marchand is that worker bee that others should strive to be …he was surrounded by entitled lazy millennials in Boston . Glad he is on a team that works as hard as he does
Parley wag is a ignorant person.
What a unique, awesome interview. He's hilarious without telling a joke.
i hope kane takes bennet out!
Marchand has been the best Panther in the playoffs!!!
brad marchand is a trigger phrase for this man
Of course you have . Panthers cant win without the refs help.
as per the northern parlance… Maurice is a beauty hisself folks.
Go get Oilers, wish Panthers beat Oilers ! I am a Jets’s fan. Especially want to thanks coach Maurice for making Jets become a respectable team.
Why is experience overvalued?
I love listening to everything Paul has to say. I’m pulling for Edmonton this series but honestly I’d be just as happy to see Paul get another ring. Hard to not cheer for Marchand too with the run he is having.
We all know what Marchant is…he told us himself.
"He's a beauty." Well said Maurice. So happy for Marchy.
Absolutely disgusting player and person 🤦♀️🤮 karma will get him one day!
Marchand… the whiney Canadian killer
