Dodgers postgame: Dave Roberts explains ejection & being upset Padres manager got benefit of doubt
[Music] dave uh can you take us through um what what took place there when the warnings were issued and what Trip Gibson may have said to you to set you off um yeah just to kind of give an overview um I I you know Andy was hit last night i feel he overreacted um we moved on um we ended up uh hitting a player Tatis uh unintentional um in that spot we don’t want a guy on base certainly him bleeding into their you know their their guys the middle part of the order and um and then at that point in time Shia comes up with the base open and Vasquez took one shot at him and um and then hit him again and it’s very hard to miss that bad with a right-handed pitcher so for me it’s um you know if there’s if you’re going to do it own it and there’s no misfire right and that I just felt that I didn’t feel a a warning on both sides was warranted number one and um so I just wanted to know an explanation i wanted an explanation on their thought process i didn’t come in hot i just wanted to know why the why they issued and um at that point in time I realized later I got tossed which I didn’t understand or appreciate and even looking back and to see Mike get the opportunity to talk to umpires after I was tossed and their explanation and he was doing it so um I I think what anyone wants is consistency right and and so for me is I wanted an explanation you know what’s going on forward in their decision-m and I got run and so for me it just there was no consistency and I just wanted feel for the game and that’s what I asked for and I feel we didn’t get it so your opinion was that the hit official time absolutely i mean this guy he hasn’t come close and for me it’s like if they feel that’s warranted on their side part of baseball that’s what they feel and I give them credit cuz they hit him in the leg own it and we move on but it’s not a misfire i do feel is intentional and again that’s part of baseball which we all understand when When did you realize you got tossed and kind of what Marvin told me I got tossed kind of when I was trying to question and uh yeah you weren’t usually one to like sort of get animated with just the lack of consistency i’m a big lack of consistency i’m very big on common sense and so for me for them to issue warnings I feel it’s common sense for me to ask their thought process and hold them accountable to their decision that’s all I wanted to know and I was going to stand stand aside and then again I hear I see the opposing manager get the same courtesy of explanation and stays in the game so there’s just no consistency with that so that’s kind of my you know but again back to the game or to the game um I thought we thought um guys laid it out there um the pitching we found a way will had a huge night annie had a huge night big defensive plays um and it was a fun game unfortunately to watch from my office but our guys uh really played well and Mark and Danny uh from the bench did a fantastic job of managing the pen and uh huge win andy Andy said he wasn’t more motivated after last night and he saw this clip of what showed up with Yan out of during his thing with C’s do do you buy that or could you sense a little more kind of hunger from him tonight to you know I don’t know um well whatever it was whatever it tapped into or did tap tap into he he really had a big night and and came prepared and it’s it’s been fun watching him play baseball when you were watching the game in your office and Will Smith’s going through that bat against Drada in the sixth inning what was what was going on in the office and your emotions through those 12 i was uh with Alex Torres our clubhouse manager and and I might have made my first home run call of the night of the season so uh yeah I just saw the bat i just saw that he was kind of bearing down locking in and uh you know you can put it up there for bat of the season you when you guys were in New York against the Mets you and Trip had a conversation too cuz he called that obstruction on on my seat do you think that carried over at all for either of you i don’t think so and you know what to be quite honest I don’t I didn’t remember that that was Trip and and no he he’s a pro um I don’t think that that carried over or he has any ill versus us i just felt at this specific moment I felt that I didn’t agree with their decision and I think that’s my prerogative has playing the Padres so many times in such a short window in June kind of stirred emotions up um I think probably um I think that when you get familiar with an opponent that’s kind of the natural kind of progression I guess you know we just saw these guys three days and you know these games are these games are certainly meaningful so extra emotion I’m sure yeah coming into today did you you know expect to be using Tanner three days in a row um no but I I felt that if it called for it to win a game in big spots uh he was going to be available and um he takes care of himself and it’s been well worth it bullpen game you know yesterday essentially and today you know we’re part of the plan but how do you feel about the the pitching for the rest i I feel great of with what we’ve done uh Em’s going to start tomorrow which is exciting and um you know Robo’s going to pitch bulk and then we’ll kind of see where we go from there did did you clock show getting to talk to them when you were walking off the field or did you see that once you got back in your office i saw that when I got back in my office thanks guys
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts explained why he was upset with the umpires, what led to being ejected and questioning why San Diego Padres manager Mike Shildt was extended a different courtesy.

Tripp homeplate umpire tomorrow 😒 Let's hope he's fair.
pedres highlight of the game was hitting Ohtani
Doc didn't deserve to get run there.
What about the Tatis play at 2nd in the 7th inning? Wasn't he out? What happened there? Play by Play announcers were livid that he wasn't out.
The Padres is playing dirty game
Roberts should have been ejected for continuing to put Conforto into the lineup and benching Kim.
Dave probably got ejected because he stepped out of the dugout, whereas I believe Mike Shildt didn't. That's what it looked like to me. If Dave had waited for the break between the innings, he could have then questioned the call without risking an ejection.
That's how it appeared to me. If I'm wrong, correct me.
Crazy game. The good guys prevailed. Fingers crossed the HBPs are done. I just thought of Tony Conigliaro. Baseball was very different back then.
Audio is always shit for these
You thought Andy overreacted? Man this team had been real hatable this season
He shoulda done that too vs the giants and the umpires
A lot of other teams jealous of Dodgers and their success. Go Dodgers❤❤❤
You hit their guy they hit your guy. Get over it.
I thought it was kind-of an unspoken or unofficial rule that you don’t intentionally hit a pitcher. Because if you accidentally hit him in the hand or something, that could be it for him, for the season if not his entire career. If the Padres felt like they were owed one, there are plenty of other batters in the lineup.
DODGERS MOST PAMPERED QUEENS OF MLB
to much commotion in the san diego dugout never win it all .
Randy Vasquez was the San Diego Padres pitcher who purposely tried to injure Otani. Dodger fans need to remember that name.
So obvious that was intentional.
Even after winning the game he’s still crying😂
I think we should allow the media to interview the umpires after games. If the player's and coaches are held to a level of professionalism, so should the umpires. Stop protecting them! Let's get some transparency with the umpires.
If you hit one of our BEST players unintentionally or not its happening on your best player too it just the way it is
Dave never deserved to get ejected immediately
Maybe umpire is a Padres fan.
Dave Roberts is my guy.
LOL I hope they hit him a few more times. Ohtani screamed like a little Bit😂😂. WIN THAT WORLD SERIES PADRES💪🏼💪🏼
The pitcher who hit Otani should be suspended, but nobody’s talking about that. Manny needs to be suspended. Always so type of aggressive behavior from him . Enough
