Flying UA home tonight from a work trip, looked over during boarding and Don Granato is sitting across the aisle from me in 1B.

Super down to earth guy, found us at the baggage claim and chatted for a little longer. He still has a place in Buffalo and had nothing but good things to say about the city and the people. Opinions on the team might differ, but Donny Meatballs is a stand up guy.

  1. Met him walking his dog on Niagara St 2 years ago after a bike ride, such a great guy to talk to. He was so nice and appreciated me being a fan

  2. I got nothing bad to say about Don Granato. Imagine coaching the youngest team in the NHL to one point outside the playoffs, getting total locker room buy-in, and then the only forward your GM adds over the offseason is 18 years old

  3. Had some questions about some of his coaching decisions, but always seemed like a really great person. Wish there would’ve been some way to keep him in the organization. 

  4. Donny is the most successful drought era coach of the Sabres. 

    Donny was never the problem.

    I hope I run into him someday so I can ask him probing questions about Adams and Pegula and try to read the answer on his face because I know he would never say anything too damning.

  9. Honestly kinda shocked he isn’t an assistant somewhere yet. Maybe a personal decision to take some time off but he’s valuable to hockey. I didn’t agree with every decision on game nights but we don’t blame you overall, Meatballs

  10. I really wanted him to be “the guy”. Seemed like a great guy that the players liked.
