Dodgers postgame: Dave Roberts reveals likely role change for Ben Casparius

[Music] Yeah, that was that was uh one you want to flush uh as soon as possible. Um I don’t think there was uh much uh many positives uh from this night. You know, I don’t think Ben was was good tonight. Um you know, it seemed like they were on everything. he threw up there. Uh, you know, Jack, we tried to get him through two innings to bridge the game and, you know, once they gave up, once we’re down 71, you’re hoping that Noah can shorten the game a little bit as a length guy and it just didn’t work out that way. And fortunately, Banda picked us up with with two innings. And uh never feels good to throw a position player, but you I think if you look at it in totality, um you stay away from your leverage guys. And we put we have we’re in a good position to win the next two games to win the series.
With Ben, obviously you have coming back struggled since you guys have tried to stretch him out. Is it something where you kind of need to re-evaluate what his role is going to be moving forward or
Well, I I I think what what’s going to happen with Ben is um obviously EMTT’s coming um he’ll probably go to the pen and uh get him back to um you know shortening him up a little bit and you know to kind of get him into the starter role. it was of need and um he did that. But, uh, you know, getting them back in the pen and shortening them up, I think the stuff will play up a little bit more, too.

During a postgame interview on SportsNet LA, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reacted to the worst loss in Dodger Stadium history and revealed Ben Casparius is likely moving back to the bullpen with Emmet Sheehan and Tyler Glasnow returning.

  1. Hey Roberts they don’t even punt to a position player to pitch after being up 17 runs. You punt after being down 6 in the 5th inning.

  2. In before the role changes doesn't solve his struggles. I think he just needs to adjust as all players end up needing to do. What he needs to do? Beats me; I'm not a pitching coach.

  3. It sure doesn’t help that we’re throwing out AAA pitchers to major league hitters but I’m gonna chalk this one up on those stupid fucking Fourth of July hats. They look like shit.

  4. Ben hasn’t been good his last two outings. N Davis was a disaster send him back down to triple A asap and don’t bring him back. The Dodgers hitting was the biggest embarrassment ever. It was like watching a double A team play the mlb a wipe out sickening.😊

  13. I still have confidence in Ben Casparius, he’s been solid minus this outing. It’s one game, I have a good feeling LA will take the next 2 against Houston.

  17. Why was no one asking Dave Roberts or talking about Teo’s lack of efforts in defense? I believe he can do better and should be held accountable. It’s been a few games and he doesn’t look like he gave his 100%. Is he still injured? Is it his ability or capacity? If neither then can he be benched? It’s frustrating.

  18. Trying to understand why he let a minor leaguer pitch against one of the best teams on the Fourth of July at home in front of a sellout crowd. Noah Davis ERA is now 19.5 shouldn’t let him pitch another game. We need a spark, a leader on this team that could rally the troops when they’re down Dave is too soft, punts rather than fight. Yes it’s 162 game season and this game is meaningless but it’s the Fourth of July and this is what you give the home fans who are there to celebrate? Terrible.

  22. This is all because dumbass front office gave 180 million to Snell a 32 year old man coming off a series injury season and another mega deal to Glasnow who is a walking IL list all the money was thrown down the toilet the team has been having to win from behind because the pitching sucks
