Trade Kyrou? Blues Fans Still Hurt Over Bolduc Trade| New Blue Note Hat Unboxing Drops
Jordan Cyu is not going anywhere. Hey, this is Bin Chen. Subscribe to Lock on Blues. You’re Locked on Blues, your daily podcast on the St. Louis Blues, part of the Locked On podcast network, your team every day. And welcome back to Locked On Blues. I am your host of Locked On Blues, Haley Taylor Simon, talking to you all things about our St. Louis Blues here on the Locked On podcast network, your team every day. Today on Lockdown Blues, I’m going to talk to you about how the one and only Jordan Cyu is here to stay. Well, Duke had well, it was quite a goodbye message. And then finally, Jordan Bennington. I will never understand why the national media doesn’t give him the respect that he does deserve and I will stand by that every single time and there was a list that I saw and to say the least it annoyed me absolutely. So we have a lot to get into on today’s episode of Locked on Blues. I do want to let you know that today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel. Right now, new FanDuel customers can get $150 in bonus bets if your first $5 bet wins. Besides me having a new sound system for this podcast, I also have the same exact annoyance of a conversation that I talked about last week and that is about the whole let’s trade Jordan Cyu. I did a video and on the video I specifically said that the St. Louis Blues would not trade Jordan Kyru because he did accumulate 70 plus points last season. But yet there’s so much backlash. Oh well the turnovers. Yes, I agree that the turnovers were an issue last season and I am not denying that. But you cannot look at Jordan Kyu who has scored 30 plus goals in the last three seasons. 36 goals last season. By the way, he was ranked 16th in the NHL for most goals scored. A little fact that I wanted to put out there, but you cannot look at him, you cannot look at those statistics and tell me that he’s better off being traded than he is on this team. For me, my frustration goes beyond the whole trade Kairu. It’s the reasoning behind it that gets me. If you gave me a player that you think would bring him more value than Jordan Kyu for a trade involving Jordan Kyu, maybe I would listen. You know what? I would listen because I like that we have different opinions. I do. However, when all I am saying is trade Kyu, he sucks. Where is the substance? Where is the meat of what you’re saying? Essentially, are you just willing to say that because you don’t like him? And that is okay. And I understand why some people were annoyed with him as was I. And why was that? The whole situation with Craig Baroo. And for those that need a little bit of a refresher, because I feel like this was kind of a really big talking point, when Bubie was fired December 12th, 2023, Kyru was asked about their relationship. And he stated, “I’ve got no comment. He’s not my coach anymore.” And let’s be so honest, that is not something that any player should be saying about their former coach. Um, to me, it was 100% disrespectful. But obviously, Kyru eventually did apologize because the next home game that the Blues had, all of the fans were booing Jordan Kyu when he was announced in the lineup and whenever he touched the puck. postgame, you could tell that he was emotional, tears in his eyes, and he apologized and he stated, “I respect everything he’s done. He’s won a cup.” Um, Barubie also downplayed any tension between the two of them, telling the reporters that Kyru did reach out and there’s no issues. Um, he explained that Kyro was caught off guard and he said that sometimes I guess things with the media can be a little bit awkward and again I feel like Craig Barubi I mean he’s an NHL veteran, right? Um, he knows how things get spun sometimes, but he also wants to protect maybe his former players. Um, it’s obvious that, you know, Kyu does have respect for Buruby. it was more of a media situation rather than a locker room situation. So, I do believe that it wasn’t maybe as big of a deal as it got blown out to be. But again, we don’t know what happens inside the locker room. I spoke to my experience whenever I’ve had conversations with Jordan Kyu. Always positive. However, I do understand at the same time that that comment really did rub so many people the wrong way, including myself. Okay, before he apologized, and by he I’m saying Jordan Kyu, I said, “Get him off this team.” Because I was so upset first off about the firing of Craig Bubie. Number one, I was devastated to tell you the least that the coach that got my team to win its first Stanley Cup got fired. And I know that the season wasn’t off to the best start. However, I did not feel like that was on the Chief at all. And then I heard that comment from Kyu and a part of me just wanted to look at him and say, “Hey, you’re talking about the first ever coach to win this city, the Stanley Cup. Be a little bit more classy, Jordan.” But I do understand, too, being in media where there has been instances where I have interviewed hockey players and sometimes they say things that they shouldn’t be saying. I know I don’t put that into my articles that I do because again I want to have really good relationships with my players, right? But there is times after a game where a player will say something and it gets spun a certain way and then all of the sudden it blows up. But I think it speaks to the professionalism of Craig Baruby shutting it down. Hey, no tension. It’s all fine. He reached out and you could tell how impacted Jordan Kyu was by what happened. You could tell that he was visibly upset. I know that he cares about St. Louis. Okay, you don’t have to tell me twice that Jordan Kyu cares about St. Louis. I know he does. But at the same time, people hold on to grudges. I admitted, hey, maybe I did overreact when that quote first came out because emotions were heightened. Okay, I still am annoyed about what happened with Craig Baruby as I just stated and then I’m having Kyra come out and say what he said. He’s not my coach anymore. Okay, but he was like a day ago. That to me just infuriated me. But I do understand that people make mistakes and I don’t think he had any ill will towards it. Maybe in his head he didn’t want to comment on what happened so he was just trying to brush past the question. I don’t know. What I do know is that ever since that moment and the apology and how much he cares about the city and the fan base and the blue note, I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. I do. It’s not like Jordan Kyu doesn’t play with effort. He does. Even when he was getting booed in that game, he was still playing with effort. So, I want to ask you, is the reason why maybe you want to trade Kyu, does that have anything to do with what happened with the comment that he made about Bubby? Or is there another reason behind it? And no, you cannot tell me it is the lack of goal scoring. Like you could make the argument, and I would totally hear you out on this one, that it has to do with the turnovers and maybe sometimes the bad passing, but I can’t listen to somebody say, “Hey, let’s trade Kyu. He’s not doing enough.” when he does put up 70 points in this past season, when he did score 36 goals, mind you, ranking 16th overall in the NHL that I do not agree with you on, but I don’t know why you don’t. And I feel like if you say to me, hey, hail, it was the comments that he made. Not that I would necessarily agree with you, but I could understand. You know what? I get why you were upset, but it also was about a year and a half ago. Wait, it’s Yeah, about a year and a half ago. December 2023. Maybe it’s time to move on. Or if you’re not ready to move on, that’s fine. But we also don’t need to say, “Hey, let’s trade Kyru every five seconds.” He’s here to stay. And at the end of the day, it is what it is. It’s unfortunate because I feel like if he never made that comment, maybe things would be a little bit different for Rosie. But you know what’s not different for me? Oh, what is that? Hail. It is FanDuel. Summer sports are in full swing. And whether you’re all about baseball, watching our cards under the lights, golf on the green, or high stakes soccer action, Fandal is the best way to make every game more exciting. You’re already following the action, so why not make it even more exciting with FanDal? You can get in on the games while your friends are getting sunburnt on the beach. Okay, so let’s just say for what it’s worth, right? We had a very ugly loss to the Cubs yesterday. We got shut out 11 nothing. Okay, not good. Not good. However, we have an off day today. So that means that tomorrow we do host the Nationals. The Nationals who just fired their manager. They’re going through a lot of issues. So I do believe that we can defeat them. I think that the Cards are going to win tomorrow. I mean after an embarrassing 11 nothing loss to the Cubs yesterday. Come on. Series loss to the Cubs. Not good. They did pick up one win, but tomorrow I am going to bet money line on my Cardinals. and I think you should as well. We’re not a bad baseball team. We just I don’t feel like always match up well against the Cubs. Either way, this is not locked on Cardinals. This is locked on Blues. But if you are new to FanDuel, new customers can bet just $5 and get 150 in bonus bets if your first bet wins. Open the Fandel app today or visit fandal.com to get started. I think the ironic part about it is that I was tweeting on my Blues account about the Cardinals and I was cracking up because JD, he was, by the way, he’s a great host of Locked on Cardinals. He was like responding to me and I was crashing out. Um, especially Friday’s game. I was not too happy about that one. Uh, however, I’m happy that the boys did pick up at least one win. I am trying to stay positive. Um, but speaking of positivity, look at that transition. Um, there was a player that ended up getting traded. Zachary Buluk, or as I like to call him, Zachary Gold. And for me, this was a really hard trade. Not because of, let me say like this. Did I think that Zack Buluke was going to be like the next Robert Thomas or the next like Austin Matthews? Like, no. With David, no. But did I see a player who put forth so much effort on the ice? Yes. Did I see a player during the Foreign Nations faceoff break go down to the AHL Springfield Thunderbirds team to play and get more grabs because he wasn’t playing that great prior to the break? Yes. Did I see after the break a player be absolutely dominant on the ice within Zack Book? Yes. And one thing, and I’ve said this all along, that I liked about Zack Buke is his work ethic. He has a great work ethic and again I I saw a lot of potential for him. I really did. And again, it’s one of those situations where I feel like at the end of the day, I’m excited about Logan. I am. I think that he has a lot a lot of potential defensively. And I get that the Blues wanted him to begin with uh prior to that 2021 draft, but again, Montreal ended up getting him because of everything that went down. But anyways, let’s let’s focus on Zack Buluke because I watched him play a lot of Thunderbirds games. Um I’m a big T-Irds fan, so I go to a lot of AHL games this season, actually. But this was Zach’s goodbye message to St. Louis on Twitter. Thank you, St. Louis blue heart emoji to the Blues organization, my teammates, coaches, and the fans. Thank Oh, I thought I was going to say thank you. Thanks for everything. You believed in me and gave me the chance to grow on and off the ice. I’ll always be grateful for my time in St. Louis and for the friends and memories I made along the way. Oh boy. and Mojo Matthew Joseph posted a picture to his Instagram story saying how much he’s going to miss him. Like this is something that I think hit hard. And again, I feel like the return that we got, it’s good, but at the same time, you’re still allowed to be upset over a player that you really did not want to leave. I know that there are some rumors, right, about the fact that Bulu could be traded, but again, all I hear are rumors about Jordan Kyu all the time. So, for me, I didn’t really buy into the rumors because they weren’t really coming from that much of a reputable source. However, I do want to talk about his season last year because last uh season, which is so weird to say because it feels like it should not be the 202526 season approaching, but last year he played 72 games with 19 goals and 17 assists, 36 points, plus 20 and 37 penalty minutes. And for me, like that was such a great season. And I I really did believe that he was the future of this team. And I think maybe that’s why I’m having such a hard time processing it. Um, also, when it came to goals scored, this is a cool thing. Um, Buke finished with 19 goals, as I mentioned, placing him fourth amongst all rookies. You had Matt Van Meichoff of 26, Celebrity 25. So while Buke didn’t get into the 20s, um it’s still a huge accomplishment to be up there that high. Also, when it comes to points, Buke secured seventh in rookie points with 36. So again, it just shows I don’t want to say elite, but how he had so much potential to be an elite player in time to come. Right now, when it came to the CER trophy voting, Bull Duke was in eighth place. So again, I take that as a win. Like he obviously had a breakout season uh last year. So there’s that to look at. And there’s also the fact that at the end of the day, um, he also led all rookies in nearly the entire league in plus minus. That is insane. Okay, he is a top 10 rookie from last season, period. And you cannot tell me anything different. But again, I want you, right? I want you to tell me this. What is your hopes for Bulldog? Are you hoping that he goes to Montreal and kills it? And I’m not saying ever to root for a player’s demise or not success, but do you think that maybe this is the peak that we’re going to see from him this past season in St. Louis? Do you think he’s going to be able to continue to grow and be this great player that we saw last season? because there were hook uh hiccups uh throughout the season at times where he was quiet on the ice. But again, I really cannot be upset about what he did. So, I am curious on your perspective of hey, we we saw what we’re going to see out of him. I don’t think he was going to be that much better as time went on. or do you think, hey, maybe the Blues did mess up a little bit on this one because he has potential to be an elite player one day? I want to know your thoughts on that. So, please comment below and tell me what you are thinking. Before I continue on, make sure to like and subscribe to Lockdown Blues here on YouTube or anywhere where you’re listening. Yes, I have a professional microphone that I got installed today. Whoa, this podcast is becoming more and more legit. I want to bring forth my best possible content for all of you. I work in radio during the day, so this kind of makes me feel like I’m at the radio station right now with this microphone. Not complaining about that, though. I actually uh quite enjoy this very much so. But again, I really want you to have the best listening equipment audio. I don’t know what I’m even trying to say. But the point is is that I’m really happy that I was able to do this and provide you all with content that is going to at least sound a lot better. So, did my hat come? Oh my goodness, my hat came. I’m going to go get my new Blues hat. So, I have the box, by the way, that carries my hat in it. Yes, I got the new Blue Note merch. But before I do that, really fast, I saw um and I’m just so excited about this hat, but I saw a statistic, well, not even a statistic, it was like one of those like ranking lists of the best goalies in the NHL currently, and Jordan Bennington was ranked 16th overall. And that to me is ultimate disrespect because you’re telling me that Connor Hobbuk, who looked like trash in the playoffs, is ranked higher than Bennington. And this list was made after the playoffs this year. Okay. You’re also gonna tell me that again I’m not trying to be disrespectful by any means, right? I’m not trying to come at anybody but Dustin Wolf. Really? I don’t understand the forced Jordan Bennington hate. I don’t. To me, it’s just it’s one of those situations where I feel like people don’t like Bington. That’s fine. But again, same thing that I said of Jordan Kyu. At least give a legitimate reason behind it. Because when you’re making these rankings, I don’t take you seriously. You’re not a credible journalist to me. If you have a guy like Jordan Bennington not in the top 10, and I’m not saying to put Bennington as number one. I am not saying that, but Bennington is, and I’m going to repeat myself on this one, is an elite goalie. Okay? So, for you to have a rookie above him, for you to have him ranked 16th overall, and I’m not going to call you out on it because again, it’s just a point that I have seen rankings just like yours um throughout the entire season and whatnot. But again, it just makes me lose my trust within some of these sources because anybody that watches hockey knows Jordan Bennington is one of the better goalies of this modern time. Okay, so let’s go unbox this um hat. I am excited. I Wow. I think I ordered this the day that it came out or the day after it came out. So, obviously it’s St. Louis um Authentics. I love I’m not going to show you my address, but I do love seeing like the address of it, too. It just gets me super excited. I do need to make my trip out to St. Louis soon. So, wow. My one cat, she’s like, I’m so interested about what’s inside the box. Um I’m excited. Let’s do this. It feels like Christmas. I’m so excited. Okay. And I love how it came when I was filming today’s episode. So, I guess that just shows you um how timing works. Oh, they really made it tight. It is beautiful. Oh my goodness. Wait, this is beautiful. Look at this hat. Like, look at the word mark. I think it’s backwards, but this is beautiful. And the blue note, like I love this so so so much. I love this color blue. Um, my initial thoughts honestly looking at it is that I know that we said that there’s no border and it’s just the blue obviously and it blends in. However, when I have the hat and I’m holding it up and I’m looking at it, it actually doesn’t look as bad because it does pop out a little bit. So, while yes, I still like the OA sweaters better, I don’t actually think this looks as bad as I thought it did in the pictures. I love the word mark. I love that it’s white for the St. Louis. And I love that the blues is the yellow. I like that. I love the shade of blue. I like the Oh, I love all of this. Like, this is a very nice hat. This is a great hat. This is my new lucky hat. This This is so cool. Like, you have no idea. As soon as it was released, I knew I wanted it and I got it because at the end of the day, you can take the girl out of the L, but you cannot take her buying merch away. I also ordered my custom sweater because I still haven’t released the sweaters yet. But I love this. This is actually sick. Hold on. I’m going to see if I can flip my camera actually. Um, okay. You can see it better now. Hi. Hey, what’s up? Welcome to Locked on Blues. I switched myself around. Um, I’m going to take it off. I’m going to show you one more time just so you can see it now that the camera is switched a little bit so you can see it a little bit better. My hair, whenever I take my hair out of being in a hat, it gets like a little bit messy. But this is the front again. It has on the new blue note. Again, look how cool that looks. As I said, as you can see, it doesn’t look as bad up close. So, I do like that. which makes me feel even more better now about the sweaters. I also love this word mark as I pointed out prior. Like I love this. This is so cool. The detailing like this is a really nice hat. I love the color, everything about it. I like I guess the only thing I don’t like is like the new era logo on it. But other than that, I give this hat, honestly, this actually might be one of my favorite hats. I give this a nine out of 10. So, let me know what you think. I love this so so so much. I cannot believe it came during the show today, too. But again, today’s episode of Lockdown Blues was great. I now have my hat repping the blue note here. And honestly, I cannot wait to get my hands on my custom sweater that I ordered because I really am obsessed with like the whole rebrand. I don’t know why, but I feel like this is one of the best rebrands that has been done. But yes, the hat came the box from the hat. Like today’s episode was fun. New microphone, new hat, new equipment, and same old me. All right, I’ll talk to you all tomorrow. And like always, let’s go Blues.

If "mayhuw" works out as a starting defenseman this year…then I'll call the trade good…
And I think "suter" will be very good…
It’s a relief at last to know that I think he’s going to have his best year yet 45 goals plus I’m going to say minus any long. Term injury
Yes but either way bulduc is a stud
It’s because of what he said when Berube got fired and it really wasn’t that bad not a big interview type star but he’s been improving every year. Yeah he’s had a couple turnovers bad moments, but every player on that team has another thing. He’s been a healthy player. He has not been out with long-term injuries so far in his career, which is also a big plus I agree with you, Haley. I’ve been sticking up for him the whole time every time he’s talked I’m glad we have him
Should have traded Kyrou for Milleux not Bolduc. But maybe Montreal didn't want Kyrou's contract? Army likes Milleux good enough for me he's right 85% of the time. Bolduc could score 25 next year to bad it won't be for us! Develop a player and when he gets there dump him? I don't like that either.
The Bulduc trade was pure retardation
Does anyone like the hat LOL
I watched as a Habs fan because when a former fan base acts like y’all do about a player before I get to see him in the Bleu, Blanc et Rouge, it gives me complete comfort that although we might not win the trade, we definitely didn’t lose it. Great job!
I’m 100% with EE on this Demidov at center. He’s 19 and Uber talented, I think he has #1 center talent and it should at least be tried. I do not for one second think that it could make him a worse player by trying it out. He’s not Drouin. He could be Fedorov.
Who do you think we will see on goal more this season
love all the attention from Quebec fans now lol .. they gonna love bolduc up there
say no to gambling .. cya .. the hockey guy and top shelf are the only ones left who wont sponsor gambling .. bye
What am I missing? Didn't Kyrou's no trade clause kick in on July 1st? Why is this still even being talked about?
Im glad were keeping Kyrou!
Pretty simple why people don't like him ,turnovers, passing the puck to the other team, he can go weeks at a time that he is invisible on the ice offensively, see him coast frequently taking shifts off, thats why I wanted him gone, and part of me will blame him for berube getting fired ,leading up to that there were several reports that berube and kyrou weren't getting along but…. especially last year when Monty came in kyrou improved on alot of his issues and if that growth continues this next season I might become a fan, I am in the camp that he should stay and that contract is gonna look like a bargain in another year or 2
There are negotiations ongoing with Buffalo for Bowen Byram (according to many sources including Jeremy Rutherford and Frank Seravalli). The Habs definitely want him too. If The Blues can get Byram, I don't see any other way to acquire Byram without moving Kyrou; "no trade clause" notwithstanding. If Armstrong wants the deal, he'll find a way to make it happen. I think Kyrou puts up good numbers, but I don't think he puts up $8,125 million stats.
