JON GRUDEN Calls Bucs QB Baker Mayfield A “Pain In The Ass”
the kind of quarterback you would love to coach. You saw eye to eye with Brad Johnson, Brian Grey’s, some of these veterans that had some some moxy about him. Baker Mayfield just seems like would he would be a dream to coach for you because you got he’s almost like your alter ego, the John Gruden on the field. The way he commands the huddle, the way he ignites the team. He reminds me of Ganon, a guy we had in Oakland. You know, he turned our franchise around. He was very similar. He could scramble. He could make plays with his legs. He could will it out of himself, will it out of the team? He had a playing style. You know, Jeff Garcia was similar. Yeah. Um tough uh playing style permeated into the locker room. It just has a certain vibe to him. I think that a winning football team has to have. He’s been through a lot, you know. I mean, the guy got kicked out of Cleveland, got kicked out of Carolina, kicked out of Los Angeles. He comes here, 8,900 yards in two years. The Pewer Report needs to tell people nobody in the NFL has more touchdowns than Baker Freaking Mayfield the last two years. So, you know, and then to succeed Tom Brady and win two division titles, you know, the guy’s the guy’s a I mean, he is a pain in the ass, too, man. You got the coach, you got the quarterback, you got the kicker, you got every reason to have a great season. And uh man, we got a lot of firepower.
Former Bucs and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden discusses how much respects Tampa Bay QB Baker Mayfield with Scott Reynolds in an exclusive interview with Pewter Report. Gruden calls Mayfield a “pain in the ass.”

Pewter Report's Scott Reynolds and Bailey Adams interviewed Bucs Ring of Honor head coach Jon Gruden in his film lair the FFCA (Fired Football Coaches Association) headquarters in Tampa prior to Buccaneers training camp. Read more about Gruden and his thoughts on the Bucs – past and present – in Reynolds' SR's FAB 5 column on PewterReport.com on Friday.
This got me fired up! Go Bucs!! 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
A "pain in the ass" with love and respect!! YES, Baker is a PITA for the opposing team, he's as hard to bring down as Big Ben Rothlesberger from the ol Steeler days!!
Gruden hated Brad, he brought in Rob Johnson to take his job, but couldn't outplay Brad.
Gotta love Jon and his take on Baker. Makes me smile when he said, "We got a lot of fire power." "We." Still a Buc at heart.
Can confirm. Bucs have all the tools and weapons they need to head to San Fran @ the end of the season. The ????? 1) Can Grizzard run the O Baker style to play up to or even surpass last years results? 1) Can Bowles get his juju back on and get the D back to greatness? If the answer is yes to both those questions the Bucs have a VERY high chance of heading to the SB this go around. We should know by week 4 one way or the other. This is just my $.02.
Is the full video going to get dropped or only clips?
Definitely a misleading headline because the context that he’s saying is extremely high praise. He’s not meaning this in a negative way but the title of the video certainly made me click. It made me…well… just let’s not make Chucky look bad. I’m glad he’s back you know.
BucYeah
To bad Gruden could not realize he was a bad GM and let team get one and just coach what he good at.
Problem being expert on players around the NFL even college one would think that make you great at GM but not how it turns out. It ability to put a value on them and rate when veteran going to be good or not.
🏴☠️CHUUCCH 🏴☠️ 💪 37🏆
Yes, Baker Mayfield has helped the Bucs win back-to-back NFC South titles (4 straight so far, first two was with Tom Brady).
But the only he can really succeed Brady is by win a Super Bowl.
