Dodgers postgame: Blake Snell finding experience & trust helping since return from injured list

[Music] like just to get through five minutes of work, can you see the 10 strikeouts kind of what does that say to you just how your stuff is playing right now? Yeah. No, it’s good. It’s getting better. Um just need to command the fast ball better. Um get ahead. Um started off good and then you know as the game goes on I just got to clean it up. But um four pitch walk to to the bar show. Got to be better especially when I know like what what I can do to to have a successful at bat against him. So um still a lot of work to do. Yeah. Like there’s a lot of things I can do better and um and help me get deeper into the game. Um but overall feeling healthy. Um really excited about that. There in that third inning when the pitch count just did kind of get up. We saw you kind of working through some things on the mound. just what kind of changes are you trying to make in the moment there? Uh just trying to find rhythm, timing. Um going slow, going fast. Uh trying to figure it out. Um it’s only my second start back. Um you know, there’s a lot I got to go through, learn. Watched a lot of games, but um it’s, you know, I haven’t played a lot this year, so there’s still a lot to learn and um yeah, just really focused on that and getting better. How much do you feel like kind of knocking you off? Maybe some rust from the layoff. Um yeah, I mean um I think the the one thing that like the experience kind of trumps everything. Um play, you know, pitched a lot in the big leagues so far in my career and uh just the the confidence and the trust I have and and you know, who I am right now. Um I think that plays a big part. Um, but yeah, I don’t I don’t know if there’s rust. I think Yeah, I don’t know how to word it, but there’s something. Yeah, like uh just the the feel and like the Oh, yeah. I do this when I like if I miss the ball up, like what’s my tail to get back down and stuff like that? You feel like the change up was sort of the go-to way for you today? Yeah, I could strike it. um the fast ball, you know, just missing up and away and um yeah, there’s some things I’m going to do differently in the next start that I’m excited about. Um but yeah, just um fast ball command could if it’s better then uh a lot changes the second game. You had a discussion with Dalton and prior I think after that third inning looking through notebook. Was that more strategy how to attack these guys or what was going on there? Yeah, it’s just you know understanding we’re trying to get on the same page. We you know he’s caught me twice. Um, we got a lot to learn. Uh, you know, me learning how he catches, him learning how I pitch. Uh, he has good things to offer. I have good things. There’s just a lot of, you know, we’re going to figure this out and work together. Um, that’s pretty much all that was. Like, what were there some concerns about your stuff early on? The stuff looked really good early on. Yeah. Throw a fast ball more, trust it. Um, and and that’s the frustrating part cuz I wanted to, it’s just I knew I wasn’t striking it. So, um, if I was in the zone more, I would have thrown more fast balls. But, uh, overall, yeah, I mean, uh, the stuff’s playing good in Tampa. Uh, the swings were telling me that, too. Um, so, yeah, stuff’s good. It’s just, you know, got to get in the zone, uh, and force swings earlier. When you when you follow Kershaw and then Glasno’s going to follow you and then Yamoto is going to follow him. Is this what you guys envision your starting rotation to look like, you know, back on opening day? Yeah. I mean, honestly, right now watching everybody, it’s a lot better than I thought we were going to be. Um, the staff’s stacked. Yeah, it’s it’s fun to watch and learn and and have conversations like what did you see? How did you feel? Um, what caught your attention about them that you didn’t expect, stuff like that. Um, yeah, it’s just it’s a lot. It’s it’s good. Everyone’s, you know, a lot of veteran pitchers that know what they’re doing. And um for Yam only being a year in uh you know he knows a lot too. So it’s it’s exciting.
