NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry: Texans WR Nico Collins Is “Elite” | The Rich Eisen Show

What have I not asked you about? I’ll give you the floor, brother, before I let you go on your day. Well, you haven’t uh you haven’t asked me uh you haven’t asked me sort of at the at the if you want to talk about the top of the draft. You want to talk about some late round sleepers? How about both? I mean, you know, ask me anything. I’ve been I’ve been talking about this stuff for 3 months straight. So, there’s literally no question you can ask me. I I don’t want to I don’t want to keep on asking you something that that that that’s why I want to give you the floor. You know what I mean? like what do you what it’s your fantasy world we’re just rent paying right now Matthew so go for it I’ll I’ll say this um uh you know we’re talking about sort of um uh you know uh you know my ride or die right I do my ride or die every single year Yes sir um and so one of the guys that was my um that was the finalist for my ride or die Hampton of course ended up doing it was was Nico Collins over the past two seasons Nico Collins is third in fantasy points per target. And and so Nico Collins is somebody I I’m He made my love list. I have him at I have him at uh wide receiver six. I’m sorry, wide receiver five. So I’m significantly higher Nico Collins than sort of consensus out here. Same sort of argument. The I don’t think the Texans are going to be able to run the ball. I don’t think they want to run the ball. It’s one of the reasons they made the change at the offensive coordinator position is because they actually ran too much last year and they weren’t super effective at it. And so I think they’re going to be more passive. I think Strad will be better this year as well. And so no Tank Dell, no Stefon Diggs, they got the they got the two rookies and they added Christian Kirk, but really Nico Collins is the alpha. And my argument on Nico Collins is that um he is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL just on pure talent. He’s an alpha wide receiver one the same way that CV Lamb or Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase are. I’m not saying he’s as good as Jamar Chase, but like he’s right there with like Malik Neighbors as well, but he’s not talked about in the same breath as some of those guys, as some of those elite guys, and he really is. And so just he’s he’s dealt with injuries the last two years, but the Texans scheme ways to get him the ball. Um, and so I think Nico Collins, there’s within the range of outcomes at the end of this year, we’re talking about number one wide receiver in fantasy, Nico Collins. that is within the range of outcomes if he can stay healthy because he is that kind of guy. And then top of the draft it is Jamar Chase 100% Chase at one and Bjan up there Justin Jefferson as well. Um I know there are people that are concerned about JJ McCarthy and my argument here Richly is two words. Nick Mullins. Justin Jefferson had four games with Nick Mullins as the starting quarterback and averaged over 22 fantasy points per game. When you can produce with Nick Mullins, you can produce with anyone. All due respect to Mr. Mullins. I’m just saying like JJ McCarthy is going to be just fine. I know you’re a Michigan guy, Rich, so I know you’re team McCarthy here, but yes, like it’s it’s outrageous that people are like once again every year they sleep on they’re like Justin Jefferson bad quarterback. We had the same argument last year where people thought I was crazy for having Jefferson as a top four overall player and they’re like, “Sam Darnold, what are you gonna do with I’m like, he’s he produced with Nick Mullins and of course Sam Darnold was great and Jefferson had another monster year.” Like he’s Justin Jefferson.
