This actually made me really happy to see.
Some cool news that I wanted to get at you today. David Sevard has been on the ice in Brasard. Didn’t I rhyme so much unintentionally? But this is pretty neat. He’s been filling in in net, which might be his true calling since, you know, he loved blocking shots and now today he was on there in the uh whole coaches get up. Could the Canadians or the Rocket be looking for a new defensive coach? Maybe a PK coach. Anyway, I have a few things to talk about, so let’s talk about it. me. I don’t even have idea how they make maple syrup. So that’s not why I’m doing this video to talk about David Svard. Although I that really it warms my heart to see because I I know that Savard was a player who loved the game and he might have been able to continue but it was showing that his body was giving up on him a little bit. But a team like Santa Jose or the Blackhawks, they they could have put him to work. I just don’t think he wanted to leave Montreal. And that’s why I think that this is so cool. He’s getting to keep his family in Montreal, still on the ice with his friends. Hey, uh there could be a lot worse in retirement, right? Some of the bigger news that’s been talked about is Carrie Price and exactly what is going to happen with his contract. I want to talk about that. But first, if uh if you’re enjoying the content, why not subscribe? Love to have you as part of this community. We’re growing every day. Summer’s been a little bit of a slog. We’re so close. What is it, like 32 days now? Hockey. We’re going to get hockey again. You’re already subscribed. Don’t worry about it. Hit the like button. It helps out with uh something, man. So, it was presumed and in the talks flapping around lately, as they say, that Carrie Price is he’s going to have his contract moved. What that would do is free up some capital for the Montreal Canadians to make some moves. Could be a deadline thing, could be something during the season, could be something now. But further to that, there has been a development in regards to the collective bargaining agreement and changes to LTIR to start the season. So instead of really talking about freeing up room, we’re just making sure that the team is cap compliant, which they will be, but yeah, they’re not going to have much room at all. So where Price’s contract was a little bit more tradable before, it’s less so now because you get less relief for having an LTIR contract. So those teams that are, you know, struggling to hit the cap floor, it’s not as agile. It’s not as fun. And for those teams that are already at cap floor, but you know, don’t have aspirations of making the playoff and might be able to take one of these trades, well, it’s not really a benefit to them either. So that narrows down the list quite a bit. the Sharks, Blackhawks, Penguins. Price might not get dealt this season after all. Suddenly money gets it feels like it’s getting tighter and suddenly I feel like Jaden Strubal made a really smart decision by making sure he didn’t get a two-way contract. He he could have been used as like the scapegoat. Also, Joe Valeno, that was a that was a risk-free contract. Still pretty risk-free, but it could be like a little bit of a more strategic move later on in the season along with changes to LTIR. There will be no more deferred compensation, no more double retention trades. Also, teams can no longer implement a dress code policy. I think that there’s like a standard dress code, like you can’t have your uh gut hanging out or anything like that. You need looking at my gut. No, you were. But now I think players are going to choose how they show up to the arena. Also, I’m actually too excited for this one. players can endorse like alcoholic beverages. So, you’re going to start seeing hockey players in beer ads, which I thought was pretty cool, but now like thinking as a dad, it’s not so cool to see your kid, potentially your kid’s favorite hockey players slinging some beers, but I whatever, right? That’s just uh kind of part of our heritage. And I don’t care what you say. There’s been a lot of funny NHL related commercials. How’s it going, E? And we’re having a Molson with Hall of Famer Gafler. Hey. Yeah. Lafelur. That’s a like a real hockey name. What’s that mean? E. Like the wolf or the lion. E. No. Lafleur means the flower. Well, like a tough flower. E like a like a dogwood or or a snapdragon. Some of these players, they can do a lot with their uh what they have or what they don’t have with acting chops. I think, you know, say what you will about him, but Brad Marshawn would uh cut a pretty funny promo. In other news, faceoff specialist Mark Burau was working today with Nick Suzuki, Kirby Doc, Ura Slevski, Boduk Ain, Valeno, and New Hook, which I don’t know, read into that as you will, but it’s always good to brush up on those faceoff skills. Canadians also unveiled a new center ice logo. Whenever teams do something like this, uh, people always have their opinions. I was reading a lot of comments like people don’t like this for some reason. I think it’s incredibly beautiful. It pops. It’s clean. I don’t know. I love it. David Rybacher was at the NHLPA rookie showcase today, kissing babies, shaking hands, uh, you know, signing autograph hockey cards, probably taking lots of photos, and doing interviews. Uh, it’s cool that David got to, uh, got to go there. I hope that, uh, things are sinking in for him. He said that his knees feel 100%. I hope they continue feeling 100%, especially when the season starts. A great quote from Reinbacher today reads, “Sometimes you have to be patient. Not everyone gets to play early in the NHL. Grow. You need to learn a lot of things. I think this is the right path. Understand what they’re doing. What I have to do is show up every day and work hard. Rest will come.” Good uh good way to think of it. I mean, he he’s letting things come to him and doing hard work to try to meet those things in the middle. Journalists talked to John Cooper today as well about Nick Suzuki. He had this to say about Captain Clutch. I made a point to spend some time with him in Calgary. I learned he’s a phenomenal kid. Fairly quiet, reads the room, but very engaging when you sit with him one-on-one. Had a great time with him. Yeah, that sounds like him. And then there’s a bit of news about one eternity later. Never mind, I can’t find it. I thought there was a quote today from hockey operations USA for the upcoming Olympics and most recent orientation camp of which Lane Hudson was snubbed from. I don’t know. I’ll let you guys try to find it. I can’t find it. But I thought that the coach said something to the effect of uh Lane Hudson will have other opportunities. We were just really spoiled for goalenders and defenseman. That’s such a a BS answer because Hudson was clearly like three places above some of the individuals who were selected and then arguably maybe like above six individuals who were selected. So I don’t you know what I don’t know what’s going on and that might be that might be incorrect news. So, take that like a a grain of salt. That’s going to do it for me, guys. Hope you’re all doing all right. Almost uh almost the weekend. We made it. Oh, wait. It’s only Wednesday. Thought it was Thursday. All right. Well, a couple more days. Kids are back at school. The the kid is back at school. My daughter is one years old. She’s not uh she’s not old enough to be at school yet. My son’s back. He’s loving it. He’s loving being with his friends again. [Music] don’t be cool, sir. It’s a bummer not go being able to go upstairs and and just go bug my my 5-year-old. That used to be fun when I was working, go take a, you know, a coffee break and give him a hard time. All right, guys. You know what to do. Like the video. It helps me out with uh engagement stuff. It’ll it’ll show my video to more people probably. Subscribe if you’re not already a subscriber. I would love to have you. And as always, I will see you down in the comments. [Music]

I think the new logo looks really cool.
Whiskeys version of the "hj habs new update thing-o-mejigy"
yeahhh!!! Magnifique!!!
Glad Hutson is not on USA, just like Colefield wasn't for 4 nations. Safe at home and less problems for Canada.
Is the new no-dress code regulation the new no-Lamoriello rule?
Whatcha lookin at my gut ferrr
Savard said at La Poche Bleue that when he was a kid, he wanted to be a goalie. He might become the emergency goalie, never know, lol
Laner is young, and team USA have a lot of D to choose from. They need some thugs for the Tkachucks to hide behind 😛 Only 19 more day until preseason
I thought Cary Price was retiring or retired? I thought he announced it a few years ago that he was going to retire at the end of his contract?
Love the hat!!!! Cheers!!!!
For players who are expected to return to play in the playoffs, long-term injured reserve (LTIR) relief funds are tied to the previous season’s average league salary. The average salary in 2024-25 was $3.82 million.
As far as I can tell, this does not impact Carey Price, as he’s essentially retired and is not expected to return. Players deemed unfit for the remainder of both the regular season and playoffs are eligible for full LTIR relief but cannot return until NEXT season. (which he is retiring)
Glad to see Savard back on the ice. He would have a lot to teach young defencemen.
Man, as a fellow Quebecois, it's nice en TaBaRnAcK to see someone put some effort into learning french a bit. I love your accent!
I like the new logo. Only been a fan for roughly 32 years, so I can’t say much about the full history of the Habs. However, I think change and continuing to evolve is exactly what we need. It’s definitely something we needed when Kent Hughes first took over. I’m very excited for this new generation of Habs, so I’ll embrace all the changes and evolutions that come with. ❤
Going to be an exciting season cant wait GOHABSGO !!!!!!!!❤
I agree on the logo, I read a lot of comments where people didn't like it however I think it's great and great for the team going forward. GHG
Bob & Doug and the Flower. Funny stuff.
The new center ice logo seems like it would be a giant mess to find the puck in.
Love the French bud. Hopefully you and your son can learn together. Keep up the good work!
I love how much you covered in this video. Savard, Price contract, trades. Thanks for the great content. You don't latch onto trends others are talking about. You bring a lot of fresh and interesting perspectives. Hands down my favourite habs content creator.
If you watched the rebuild show, apparently Savard used to coach his fellow defensemen/PKers as a player, so it's not that surprising to see him potentially in a coaching role.
we need savard to go take a hike!!! he was the worse defender in the nhl.. i said for three year y doesn’t he put the pads on and stop screening our goalie
No idea why people hate the new logo. Shit is clean af
For the love of God will someone finally tell Slaf how they make maple syrup?;
Si tu veux pratiquer ton francais fait moi signe big ça ferait PLAISIR id love to give you some pointer and help with prononciation 🙂
Reinbacher stays. At least for now. Worth the injury risk.
Nice to see some new linemates at the end portion. We now have more and more on the team! Awesome guys! Support my much younger brother Whiskey in his quest to rule the hockey streamer world. ❤
The center ice logo looks amazing. New era! Et pour le francais, c'est seulement de pratiquer! ;D
Chewbacca in goalie gear is epic.
Agree with you on the logo!
NHL in the olympics is just a pr exercise and the players a picked accordingly at list for us and Canada
