D-backs vs. Twins Game Highlights (9/12/25) | MLB Highlights

Diamondbacks are only three games out of a wildcard spot with 15 to play. They will face a struggling Minnesota Twins team here this week. After a strong showing against the Royals, Pablo Lopez looks for another in his second start back from the IIL. Tonight marks the first home start for Pablo since May 23rd. And that’s how you get it started. Lopez misses and lead all fans aboard. Vargas, he’s retired. And here comes Corbin Carroll. Bernomo on the move. The throw sails into center field and Jerry will get third base. Johnny Pareda making only his fourth appearance for the Twins. They have both their regular catchers injured. Ryan Jeffers and Christian Vosquez. And so they picked up Par from the Athletics and he’s only had four games back there. So stolen base number 26 advances on E2. Base hit for Corbin. Peromo comes home. They strike first. RBI for Corbin Carroll. And it’s one zip. That’s the first hit for the Diamondbacks tonight. Think about that. This inning started with a walk, a stolen base, and an error. One single and you got the lead. Here’s Moreno. 95 and strikes out Moreno. So Pablo picks up strikeout number one. And now Pablo, by the way, 13 shy of 1,000 in his career. And McCarthy is retired. Jordan Lawler back as the DH tonight. And Jordan knocks it into left center. That’s bouncing out there slowly. Lawler will take a big turn. Little stumble there coming around first, but he’s got the hustle double and he’s in there. Waller’s now hitting five of his last six. Well, they got a run in the first against Lopez. A chance now for another in a second. Alec Thomas is the hitter. Swinging a miss. 95. So Pablo comes back to strike out. Thomas second strike out for Lopez. And they’re two down. Cut on and miss. Really good breaking ball that time and Lopez strikes out two here in the second. Dexs get a double but don’t score. Before we go to the bottom of the second, Brandon Fawn out there tonight, making his 30th start this season. Back-to-back subpar outings before coming out against Boston in his last start and threw a really good ball game. And Brandon after a 14 pitch first, has a quick out to start the second. P really tied him up with that change up and Brandon picks up his first strikeout. Short stop is Brooks Lee. Grounded to first and Tawa on an awkward bounce. Gloves and races to the bag in time. The inning is over. It’s a one, two, three, second turned in by F. We go to the third and down goes Peromo and he is in. He’s on here in the third inning. Fargy lines out. One away. Good pitch there from Lopez. A sweeper strikes out Carol. Pablo fans his fourth. Comes in a big spot. And here’s Moreno. But it is going to be a walk to Gabby. And now the Dbacks have a couple guys on base for Bla1 Alexander. Base runners in every inning. And you want to put pressure not only on the pitcher but on this defense too. And a swing and a miss here by Alexander on the O2. strikes out. The inning comes to an end. Lopez strikes out two more. He’s got five through three. Bottom part of this order for the Twins. Beginning with first baseman Cody Clemens going on and hit well for Cody Clemens. Right center field headed towards the seats and that ball’s gone for Cody. Home run number 17 for Cody Clemens. He snaps the O for 11 and he ties this game at a run a piece. That was one of your keys, Bob. Brandon Font got to keep it in the park and that one got away. This one cracked back through the middle for Johnny Pareda. And Para has a base hit. So backto back hits at the bottom of the order for the Twins. Here comes Byron Buckton in the hole and into left field. Boy, a rocket. That was 106 off the bat. And the Twins have three straight hits. And there’s a buck truck here in the third inning as the line keeps moving now for Austin Martin. Hard to short. Bomo for one. Vargas turns it and Perea gets into third. Two down now for Lick. Swinging a miss. And Faul gets his second strike out of the night. Twins, they’re going to run on three hits and Strander runner at third. And now there’s two down for Thomas. Swinging a miss. And that is now six strikeouts for Pablo Lopez. Minnesota comes out. Couple of base hits to start the inning. Here’s Royce Lewis, a strikeout victim in the second. One of broken is bad. Very shallow left. McCarthy flanks it on the sliding attempt. Everybody stopped and Keshaw will have to hold at third. That thing was just a dying quail out there. McCarthy came in on a dead run. Tried the sliding grab, but it hit off the glove and the Twins have the bases full. Score that a base hit for Lewis. And things have changed for Brandon here very quickly to left field. McCarthy does not have a strong arm. He’ll make the catch. Keshaw will tag, head home. The throw is coming home. It’s cut. throw to second base and Walner is out and Lewis still at first base in terms of run expectancy the worst place to be first base two outs and Roy says I know that let’s advance 90 ft you’re fought right now to escape this allowing just the one run that’s a win here is Clemens who homered in the third Clemens smacks it high and deep to right field back it goes and that is gone it’s a multih homer game for Cody Clemens and the Twins have put up three here in the fourth and take a 4-1 one lead. Two advance for Clemens. Two home runs. Twins have a 4-1 lead. And Pablo Lopez now pitching with the lead. Back to back, two out runners here. And a chance for Gabby. And since he’s been off the IIL, Gabby’s hit 340 with 13 runs batted in. Ground ball right side. Diving is the second base. Ke throws it away. Way over the head of the first baseman. Vargas will score and the Dbacks cut the deficit in half. It’s four to two. Ground ball to third. Lewis charging. He throws on the run and he throws on the money in time. Alexander is out at first. The inning is over, but the Dbacks are able to score a run. All with two outs. Dex trailing in this opener to the Twins right now four to two. And Brandon F returns to the mount. He’s given up runs in each of his last couple of innings of work. Hold to left near the line. That’s a base hit. This will be at least two. Martin has second base. He’ll round and put on the brakes. So a good start. Austin Martin leadoff double here to begin the fifth. Ground ball up the middle. Re fielded by the shortstop. Only play is at first. So Warick advances Martin over to third base on a ground out. Weekly hit. The shorts stop. Only play is at first as Martin scores. RBI ground out. 52 Minnesota. It has not been Brandon Faud’s night. And it looks like it might end right here. Brandon on the road. Troubles again. He will not survive the fifth. One out walk. And here comes Clemens who hit two long home runs. Fly ball left field fairly well. McCarthy back. He’ll turn around. That’s going to run out the wall. Lee chugging around third. They’re going to wave him in. McCarthy missed the cut off man and it’s 6-2. Cody Clemens have a night. Three for three. Two homers now an RBI double. He’s knocked in four and the Twins have a four-run lead. Hey, talking the 35-year-old veteran out of Glendale, California has pitched in parts of eight seasons going back as early as 2013 with these twins. And Tomkin comes in and walks the first batter he sees. But a good start here to the seventh. Tal is aboard. And now the lineup turns over for Purdomo. Pomo hits one high and deep and way back into the Minnesota Knight. Upper deck for Purdomo. Another long home run and it’s six to four. And Perdomo pulls the Dbacks back to within two. They’ll face the right-handered Cole Sans. The fifth rounder by the Twins out of Florida State. His fourth season here in Minnesota. Tawa finds a gap out there that’s going to get down in right center and bounced to the wall. Timmy’s on the move and he’s in at second standing up. Tim Tawa gets it started and the lineup turns over. The tying run will come up to the plate. It’s Raldo Purdomo. And that caught him in the leg. Second time tonight Purdomo’s been hit by a pitch. So now you’ve got Vargas coming up with the tongue runs aboard and nobody out. Ta is at second and Purdomo’s at first. Vargas hits a tapper to second. Keshaw for one. Vargas able to avoid the double play and Tao gets into third. Tawa at third, Kaiser at first. Corbin Carroll the hitter. Felt it to right and that’s down for a hit. Outman’s got it. Here comes Ta fifth run. Kaiser stops at second and Corbin Carroll makes it a one-run game. His second RBI hit tonight. Moreno is the hitter. Diamondbacks have the tying run in scoring position. It’s Kaiser down there running for Vargas. Corbin’s at first. Gabby gets it in the air. Way back to left. Way back. And it’s gone. Moreno gives them the lead. They had to have it. And Gabby got it. Oh boy. Oh boy. Is right. Gabrielle Moreno a threerun homer and it’s eight to six and now it’s up to Jake Woodford to get the final three outs. He starts it off with the Twins big hero Cody Clemens to left center field hit well on the run to the wall that is gone. He’s done it. Cody Clemens with a three homer game and the Twins pull to within one. He has doubled and hit three home runs. He’s knocked in five runs. Roger Clemen’s son. That’s Cody with a K and it’s eight to seven. So Woodford has gone home run single hit batter to start the inning. Woodford is low to the bases and there’s still no outs. He’s yet to retire a batter. Here comes Tory Lavello. It’s now an 8-7 game. The bases are full of twins with no outs. And on to face Trevor Lardic is left-hander Andrew Salak. He’s really going to have to come up with something here. And he’s walked in the tying run. And the bullpen is still yet to record an out in this ninth inning. The first five have reached. Well, it’s been a season of bullpen collapses. And given the circumstances here, this one would be an absolute crusher. This will do it. Left center, hit a ton, catches made, buck will tag, he will score. And the Twins come back and walk off the Diamondbacks 9 to8. And if there’s a game that encapsulates this 2025 season for the Diamondbacks, this was
