REKAP Rush Hour ๐Ÿš—: Field conditions an issue ahead of Bears/Vikings; Daniel Palencia to 15-day IL

Welcome into the recap rush hour for Monday. It’s September 8th. It’s game day, baby. Bears and Vikings on Monday Night Football. I’m David Kaplan. It’s brought to you by our great partners at the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Chevy dealers. They are the official truck partners of the Chicago Bears and Tasty Trade. Stocks, crypto, futures, options. Whatever you trade, you should do it at tastyrade.com. All right, Bears open their 2025 season by playing host to division rival Minnesota on Monday Night Football at Soldier Field. Tonight’s game is also the first game as a head coach for new Bears boss Ben Johnson. Bears announced this afternoon they’ve elevated linebacker Carl Jones as well as a practice squad D lineman from the practice squad to the active roster. No defensive backs have been elevated. That is good news for the status of Jaylen Johnson and Kyler Gordon who both are listed as questionable on the latest injury report. For the Vikings, they have ruled out Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith. He did not even travel to Chicago. Star left tackle Christian Darasaw, who suffered a torn ACL and more last October, listed as questionable. He has been practicing, but we will see if he indeed plays tonight. It’s been less than a year since a very serious knee injury. Latest line has the Bears a 1 and a half point underdog. The total sits at 44, 44 and a half depending where you shop. Several members of the field crew at Soldier Field are surveying the turf this afternoon and now placing a sand seed mix in areas that need to be filled in on the playing surface. That doesn’t sound good. The field was resided after a stretch of five concerts at the end of August. And that’s why they’re moving out of the lakefront. Stuff like that on the national stage on Monday Night Football is ridiculous. And today, ironically, in a letter to season ticket holders this afternoon, Bears president and CEO Kevin Warren said the team is officially setting its sights on Arlington Heights for a new fixed roof stadium with the goal of hosting a Super Bowl as soon as 2031. Let’s go. Russell Wilson remained the New York Giants starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. Brian Dable said today after being non-committal after a 216 loss to the Commanders yesterday when the Giants under the direction of Wilson did not score a touchdown. Cubs open a three-game set in Atlanta against the Braves. They will be without closer Daniel Palencia. He’s placed on the 15-day injured list with a shoulder strain. He gave up five runs yesterday in the top of the ninth and the Cubs blew a 3-1 lead and lost six-3. White Socks have today off our Anken Law question of the day. 3126 million for the best personal injury attorney in Illinois, the award-winning Howard Anken. Find him at ankenlaw.com. Simple question, folks. It’s game day, baby. What are you expecting the result to be tonight in the Monday Night Football match up between the Bears and the Vikings at Soldierfield? And why? Best response, you will win a gift card to Lou Nadis. Get the best pizza. Try that chocolate chip cookie pizza for dessert. Thank me later. lumalnadis.com for a location near you. And today’s Four Seasons, heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electric stat of the day for all the right reasons. Four seasons. You got to hear these. I’m giving you two cuz they’re tied together. The Buffalo Bills last night became the first team in NFL history to be down by 15 or more points with under four minutes left and win the game in regulation. That’s never happened. That’s insane. And Josh Allen, the Bills star quarterback, first player in NFL history to have 250 or more passing yards and two rushing TDs in any single quarter of any single game. He did it in the fourth quarter to bring his team back from a 15point deficit to win 4140. Those of you out there like my partner Ryan McGuffy who picked the Ravens Katie Lang and on our staff and I, we had the Bills cash that ticket. And make sure to check out Renegade Fantasy Football. Renegade is the only site where you could substitute in-game for underperforming or injured players. renegadefantasy.com. Don’t forget Bears recap tonight. I’ll be here in the studio at a Cubs recap to boot against the Braves. Bear down, baby. Have a great rest of your Monday. Let’s freaking go, Bears. Take that.

It’s GAME DAY! The Chicago Bears host the Minnesota Vikings in the MNF season opener at Soldier Field. The Bears are a 1.5 point underdog and ahead of the tilt, field conditions and the playing surface are an issue at Soldier Field. After hosting 5 concerts leading up to the game, there is concern enough that they are working to fill rough spots. Both teams have elevated players off of the practice squad to fill in for injured players not playing tonight. Join us at 7pm for the PRE Kap pregame show and afterwards for the REKAP. The Ankin Law Question of the Day is who wins and why? Pizza for best response.

The NY Giants have announced that QB Russell Wilson will remain the starter after struggling yesterday. Insane stats of the day revolving around the improbable comeback for the Buffalo Bills over the Baltimore Ravens last night.

The Chicago Cubs have sent closer Daniel Palencia to the IL with a shoulder strain as they open up a series against the Atlanta Braves. The White Sox have the night off. Play your fantasy football at Renegade Fantasy.

Take That!

  1. I got Vikings 27 – 17. They are just a better team right now. Hope Iโ€™m wrong. Letโ€™s remember it took the great Bill Walsh 3 seasons to get the 49ers going. Thatโ€™s 2 losing seasons both with Montana at QB. Takes time

  2. I love the grounded reality of this channel, I'm 58 and have seen the job market change. Despite the looming threat of economic collapse, people still say 'pull yourself by your bootstrap. Work multiple jobs.' Meanwhile, I'm joyful knowing i earn $57k without government benefits.
