Dodgers postgame: Blake Snell told Dave Roberts to ‘Please, keep me in. I got this.’
Right. [Music] But like seven innings of shut out work before we kind of go to the mountain visit. What was just working so well for you tonight that gave you just quite the edge in this matchup? Um yeah, I just I faced them a lot. I understand the lineup really well. Um yeah, I always uh anytime I face like a really good team, I try to bring the best out of myself and be ready. And um I think the biggest thing was just command. I could command the fast ball which really set up the off speed and then the sequencing was really good today. Could be better, but um yeah, just yeah, starting to feel comfortable and attacking the zone more. Yeah, they’re in that uh that seventh inning. It was first. Yeah, seven. Two strike or two the two outs, then the two walks kind of with that mound visit for you to end on that strike out. Obviously, you wanted it. Can you just describe kind of what you were feeling in that moment wanting to close that out? Yeah, I mean, uh, two guys that, uh, you know, I get ahead and then they they usually swing a lot and I was going for the strike out instead of just attacking the zone and, you know, see seeing what would happen. Um, I know both of them really well. I mean, grew up playing against Kepler uh, and in the minors all the way through. So, know him very well and, uh, Cass, I’ve faced him a ton as well. So, um, yeah, just got a little out of it. wasn’t executing pitches and weren’t close enough uh to get swings and then um yeah, I was able to reset, get in the zone. Dave, please keep me in. I got it. Yeah, I was very happy that he trusted me. What do you think has allowed you to feel more comfortable? Is it just getting more starts under your belt or getting a feel for where things are at or what what do you think has allowed that? Uh been battling stuff. uh just feeling healthier and yeah starting to be able to play catch uh with more intent work on stuff emotionally when cuz you know you see Dave come out you shake your head tell me you got it but then you look and see Basie like halfway to the mound and then you know Dave’s like no send him back what was that emotionally going through your head yeah I was excited I was like I I don’t want the bullpen to finish my innings I’m very adamant about that. I just I don’t want to put them in that situation and I’m big on like I put myself in this. I want to find a way out of it. And then yeah, that’s kind of what was the way out. How important is it going to be for you guys as a rotation to kind of be able to work deep into games like that? And how big is a moment like that to be able to finish it that way lead? Yeah, I mean it’s it’s big, especially just the last couple games how they’ve been going. Yeah. And they’ve been carrying us. The Bulldogs are carrying us all year. So, for for us starters to get it going, we’re healthy and starting to do what we’re capable of. It’s it’s been exciting, but it’s it’s just big, you know, let them have fresh things and, you know, get six outs to nine outs and just puts us in such a good position. What is the plan to you guys? Yeah, it’s me. Uh, but it’s it’s us, too. like we we talk, we learn each other, we learn swings, batters, uh what we feel, and just go over it. We’re just learning each other and um you know, he for him being, you know, new new to the team and he he’s just had a really good energy uh and want being back there. And I mean, he’s been very clutch for us offensively, very clutch uh defensively, but I mean, I just attribute it to how how much he wants to catch and how much he wants to be back there and his excitement and energy. Yeah, it’s it’s contagious. These pitchers are pitching really good. Blake, how much do you relish having responsibility on your shoulders in a moment like that? Uh yeah, I mean uh yeah, that’s what you played for. you know, you want the biggest moments and you want to be able to come through and we’re getting close to the postseason and you know, you you want to make it and that’s what the whole season’s for and the whole offseason. You just dream about getting into the postseason. So, um yeah, it’s what you want. Thank you guys. Thank you.
Blake Snell shared what he said to manager Dave Roberts about staying in the game, wanting to finish his own innings, and what’s been working for him recently for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

SnellZilla is that guy .
Blake has no desire to re-live what happened in game 6 of the 2020 World Series.
ポストシーズンは大谷大先生は抑えしかない 今シーズンのみ
Manager Snell, on the mound, sent the sulking pitcher Roberts back to the bench.🤣
Blurring the Dodgers Nation mike feels a little petty

We need more pitchers to call off Roberts when they’re in the zone.
snell late in the season suddenly looks like a twice cy young winner. but no worries. phillies vs yanks
What Snell actually told Roberts: Whenever you make any decision, the team always lose. Let me handle this.
wassup with the Padres colors shirt? 😄 But seriously I'm glad he called off roberts. Time and time again he makes some questionable decisions when taking out pitchers. Like Snell said, I don't want the bullpen to finish my innings. I put myself in this situation let me handle it.
All roberts needs to do when he sees his pitcher get into a pickle, is go out there or have prior go out there to break the rhythm, give him a little pep talk and let him carry on.
Now here is a guy that would give you 9 every start. He's the only pitcher in MLB history with more Cy Young's than complete games. I love the fact that he wants to stay in. Please D.R. let this man go 9!!!
He told Roberts not to give ball to wreckbloski ot Trainthem
That moment will be the critical apex in the movie about this season.
He's so real and chill…I love that he didn't just hand the ball to Dave Robert. We need a change like this, to have a different result. Hopefully the other starters will also push to stay in longer, to preserve the win. Handing the games over to the bullpen, way too early, is a recipe for disaster.
As long as our starters, keep doing what their doing, back to back baby
Great performance Blake! Dodger starters are peaking at the right time!
Wow! Another Dodger ace that is super successful, humble, thoughtful and confident. Watch out, thats tough to beat when it counts!
