Huge O-Pee-Chee Pete Rose + Oddball and Venezuelan Pickups!

[Music] Hey y’all. Welcome back to the channel. Rob here. Today I have three awesome cards that I want to show you that I have picked up for my collection. And these cards, man, they are just perfect for how I’ve been collecting lately. They are big additions. Not the most expensive cards in the world, but I think they are so cool and I am super super thrilled to have them in my collection right now. I mean, I got a Reds oddball rookie card of one of my favorite players of all time. I got a Venezuelan card of one of my all-time favorite Reds players. And then I scored a huge OPG card for my Reds OPG collection, man. and I can’t wait to share it with you. So, I’m going to start with the first card. And this one, man, I already have this card, but the funny thing is, uh, it was a couple months ago I picked it up, but it is in a Red’s yearbook from 1985. Here’s the yearbook. Maybe I’ll show a little clip of, uh, card that I bought this. How cool is this, man? This is awesome. because of this rookie card right here, Eric Davis. Look at that, man. But it is like it’s in this yearbook. And to get it out, I’d have to, you know, cut it out or pull it apart. It’s it’s perforated. And then I saw one on eBay that uh I don’t have to tear out of my magazine. And I got it at a really good price. It’s this 1985 Red’s yearbook Eric Davis rookie card. Look at that. I don’t know. It’s kind of a big slab. It’s Yeah. Here’s the flip right there. But man, I was able to not have to uh destroy my yearbook. Uh keep it intact. And I got this Eric Davis rookie. Man, what a beautiful card. I love this from his rookie season, his rookie year. Uh there’s the back of it, man. What a player he was for the Reds. He’s a Hall of Famer for them. And he hit my favorite home run ever in Major League Baseball history against Pittsburgh. Only four hits in 23 bats. Runner gone. Deep center field back. It’s going to go and that happened in 1990. and uh man sent the Reds on to sweep the Oakland A’s in the 90 World Series. I mean it was and the headline in the newspaper I remember was so cool when Eric Davis hit his home run. Uh it said Davis stuns Goliath. I thought that was such a cool headline in the newspaper. Everywhere you walked in Cincinnati today, people were staring at this. Davis stuns Goliath. Let me tell you something. It was a stunning performance indeed. But man, so happy to get this graded and encased and to be able to save my yearbook. So that was awesome. Now the Venezuelan card. Oh my gosh, I won this at auction. Had to cut into my Strongsville budget a bit for these next two cards, but that’s all right. I would have picked these cards up anyway. Love this one, man. I was able to get this 1966 Topps Venezuelan Veta Penins. Look at this beautiful card, man. This is one of my better conditioned uh Vinnies. Man, I just love it. I love the look of these cards. And the story behind them is truly amazing. Look how clean the back of this one is. And I don’t mind the backs of the Venezuelan having some damage, but it is cool to have one in this uh really good condition. So, what a beautiful card, man. Veta, man. You guys know I love collecting him. I got an another one of his Venezuelan cards and I was happy to add this one. I think the one I have is from yeah, 1968. So, I’m excited to add the 66, and it is just a thing of beauty. So, you can tell why I’m pumped about that one. And then last but not least, man, I love OPG cards, man. I love them. This one, this one cost me a little bit. And I also had to pay a tariff on this one because this one came from Canada. Now, the the Venezuelan, the Veta Pensson, that came from LA, but these both showed up at the house on the same day. So, I thought it would take a lot longer for the card that shipped from Canada get to get here, but it didn’t. They arrived the same day. And I was able to get this 1965 Oichi of Pete Rose. Peter Edward Rose. Look at this card, man. I love this image of him, man. The 1964 rose is my favorite image of him on a card, but I think a close second is this 1965 image. Look at that. How beautiful is that card, man? I cannot stop staring at this one. I was almost late to work today because I had to stop and look at it before I walked out the door. Oh my goodness, man. I absolutely love it. And uh here’s the back. You can see the printed in Canada right there. Oh man, what a card. What a card, man. I love this one, man. And I actually This is my first ever KSA uh slab. This thing is awesome. I And I think the Reds card with the color match, I think this looks amazing. And having an OPG in a Canadian grading company’s holder is amazing, man. And I I kind of wish I had my other Reds OPG cards in these holders. I don’t know. I’m sure it would cost a lot to send them to Canada to uh get them slabbed up. Don’t know much about that. Maybe I’ll drop them off to my buddy Stephen with a PH when I see him in uh Strongsville next year. But man, their case, their holders are actually awesome. I love it, man. I might like them a I definitely like them better in PSA and they are right there with with SGC slabs. So, but man, this was a huge pickup. I’m rambling on right now. My favorite player, Peter Edward Rose, the hit king, was able to land this card. And uh I am so grateful and uh thankful to uh be able to add this to the collection. And I’m also thankful for you guys. So, thank you so much for stopping by and watching. I appreciate it. You all take care and God bless. Bye.

This was one of my best mail days ever! I picked up three incredible additions to my Cincinnati Reds collection — each one with its own awesome story.

First up, I found an oddball 1985 Reds Yearbook featuring a young Eric Davis rookie — such a cool piece of Reds history. Then, I added a tough-to-find 1966 Venezuelan Vada Pinson card, one that rarely pops up in nice shape. But the big one… the HUGE pickup… is a 1965 O-Pee-Chee Pete Rose card! This beauty came all the way from Canada, and it looks absolutely amazing in person.

If you’re a Reds fan, a vintage collector, or just love the thrill of the hobby — this is one you don’t want to miss!

  15. Hey Rob! Love the latest pickups. I haven’t seen the 85 Yearbook Davis before. I like the the white and red color match with the number in the corner.

You and me are on the same page witn the 64 Rose being his best looking card. I think his 65 is his second best too. Congrats on adding the OPC.

    Have a great weekend!

  16. Nice you don't have to carve up the yearbook, good thinking! Great copy of that Pinson, it looks like a 6 all day. Great copy of the Rose as well. I've had a few KSA cases. Very similar to SGC with an arguably cooler flip, I agree. Thanks for showing them off Rob, and congratulations on the continued blessings. God Bless!
