Credit One One-on-One: Carl Lindbom talks NHL Call-Up, His Goalie Goal, and Family

[Music] Well, this is the credit one one-on-one with Carl Lindbomb. Carl, first and foremost, how are you? Good, thank you. How are you doing? I’m doing great. Thanks for asking. Uh, I guess what was your initial reaction when you when you got the call up here? Well, I was obviously just very happy. It obviously sucks what happened to Hilly, but uh, as soon as your name gets called, you’re you’re really ecstatic, stoked. Who uh have you had conversations with so far? Um, well, pretty much all the guys. all of the all the players, all the coaches uh and um and stuff like that. So, pretty much everyone. Yeah, it’s gone quick. So, last year you were kind of making the adjustment from playing over in Europe to to North American professional hockey and now hopefully at some point here you’ll be making the adjustment from the AHL to NHL. What do you expect that adjustment to be like? Um well, I think it’s going to be hard. uh like it’s obviously uh it’s obviously uh hard getting getting to the to to another level to get into uh the the better level, but um I think it’s going to be a transition, but uh hopefully I can deal with it as uh as quick as possible. How did you feel like your training camp and preseason set you up for this opportunity? Good. Good. I believe I um I believe I had a great training training camp and um and I did good. So, uh yeah. have to ask you to walk back memory lane for a little bit and tell us what you remember about your goalie goal a couple years back. Oh, that was probably one one of the best nights of my life. Like I had I had all my family there, my grandma was there, um I had friends there, so it was uh it just happened. I I obviously didn’t plan it or anything. Uh but to happen on just that night was uh was unreal. Yeah. Yeah. The stars just aligned. Why was everyone in why was everyone there that night? It was a big game. Uh so it was uh the two teams in Stockholm uh going against each other. So it was like 14,000 people in the stands and uh and I had some uh tickets left over. So uh yeah, as you said, starts the line. How often does a goalie think about that moment? Uh about a moment just to score or Yes. Like how often is a goalie thinking, man, do I have a window here? Could I do this? Cuz it happens so rarely, but it’s such a big deal when it happened. Yeah. So I’ll only have like one chance to do it. That was my only shot I’ve ever had and I and it went in. So, it’s kind of lucky I guess you could say, but um I try not to think about it a lot. Obviously, if you’re up by two, three goals, it’s kind of in the back of your mind. If I get the puck, I’ll shoot. But, um yeah, try not to think about it too much. And that’s obviously not your main priority, especially when you get the opportunity up here. Uh for fans who maybe haven’t watched you in Henderson as much, how would you describe your goalie style? Um, well, I’ I’d describe myself as uh as good on my feet, uh, a good skater, uh, read the game well, and obviously a little bit smaller in statue. So, uh, uh, so just try and try and read the game, try to be quick on my feet. What inspired you to become a goalender? Uh, my brother. Uh, my brother is a goalie. Uh, so when I was like I started young, I think like when I was 7 years old, he’s three years older. So when he was 10, I was seven. I thought he was really cool and I wanted to do what he was doing. and he’s had some professional experience as well, right? Yes, he was drafted by the Rangers uh a couple years back now and uh and he’s playing back home in Sweden. So, how often is goalending talked about at the dinner table in the Lindbomb household or how much was it growing up? Uh, a lot growing up. A lot growing up. But I think I don’t know since it’s our job now, it’s it’s not that much. Um, but um we we mainly talk about golf and uh and stuff like that. So, uh, but it’s it’s such a big help having having him like, uh, after every game we we chat on if it’s on the phone or Snapchat or whatever. So, it’s, uh, yeah, it’s good. And how much will you talk to him beforehand if you get the opportunity to to make your NHL debut while you’re up here? Uh, well, I let him know that I I got called up and obviously if I if my name gets called, uh, my parents and him are going to be the first ones I call for sure. Have you had a chance to catch up with the other Swedes in the room yet? Oh, yeah. Uh yeah, Alex is a is an old friend of mine and uh uh he’s a really funny dude and a great player and uh and Carly is so nice. Like he’s the best dude ever. So yeah, we’ve uh we’ve chatted a little bit at breakfast. Are you an ABBA fan? I am. Yeah. Favorite song? Uh oh, Dancing Queen is pretty good. Pretty classic. Pretty classic. Well, we’ll end on that note. This was the credit oneonone with Carl Lindbomb. Thanks so much for this. Thank you very much. [Music]
