Not biased or anything but Trendon Watford might be better than Jokic
29 Pts in 25 minutes. easy work for Embiid
I’ll be the old dude in this sub and say it’s weird seeing the Sixers in black jerseys shooting and making threes. The only two dudes shooting and making them while wearing those jerseys were Coleman, Iverson, Korver, McKie and occassionally Iguodala. Little fun history fact, forgot if it was Eddie Jordan or that bitch who played for the Celtics who wanted to bench Iverson but Korver was once told to NOT shoot threes by the coaching staff. Insane.
Bring on Tobias Harris!!!!
I’d seen flashes of Watford but I had no idea he was like that, what a beast.
I can’t wait to see fat Maxey in 20 years
Andreeeee Iguo- dala dala dalaaa
Just make the black jerseys our permenant 3rd alternates like the eagles with Kelly green and the Phillies with powder blue
TRENDON WATFORD!! Fantastic game from him, first career triple-double, and a career high in assists! Even though he only had 11 points, I thought VJ Edgecombe came through big time at the end, and it was good to see Joel Embiid get hot!
Joel with 29 on a minutes restriction. I’m thinking maybe he’s alright, y’know?
But man, Trendon Watford with a 20-point triple double in his first Sixers start. I believe so much in him already.
Kelly Oubre is having a great start. Looking at dudes stats he’s been solid the last 6 years in the NBA. Also Embiid with over 1 pt per minute. Cautiously optimistic
I grew up watching Iverson. Love this black jersey.
Do they also plan to bring back the white jersey this season?
Was at the game, had a blast. Watford immediately having a better game than any Tobias Harris game I’ve seen in person. Nice pick up there.
Maxey, VJ, Oubre, PG, Embiid, Watford, Grimes, McCain, Barlow is insanely good on paper for your top 9. Backup C is the most iffy position but Drummond/Bona are good enough for now.
Bulls blew a double digit lead to the Cavs away.
Not so fun now is it?
Major kudos to Drummond so far, he’s been a different player than last year!
I don’t know why Watford hasn’t stuck before
He’s plenty big . Long arms. Lots of skill. Ok he doesn’t bomb away from three
On Portland they had Jermai Grant playing huge minutes at PF. Brooklyn is and was a mess and had DFs playing big minutes ahead of him
Idk this could be his opportunity
Edit
He didn’t even get drafted. It’s wierd
*Marvin Gaye voice* “T-wats going off”
Great win, and also CMB is gonna be awesome.
G: Maxey, McCain
G: VJ, Grimes
F: PG, KO
F: Watford, Barlow
C: Embiid, Drumm/Bona
That’s a solid rotation. Then there’s 3 young guys in JE, Broome and Jabari Walker who we can develop in the 3rd string, and a couple of nice vets.
Early returns seem to suggest the biggest question outside of health and chemistry for this team will be around backup C. Any chance of Lively shaking lose in Mavs land?
Fuck it, let’s win tomorrow as well!
Just keep turning up the heat. PG back, McCain back, Embiid increasing his minutes…
I’m scared to say that we’re fucking back.
The 76ers Black Parade Era has begun.
Was at the game and had a great time. It’s all love but I have to be honest, wildly shabby performance by the Sixers arena crew tonight. The Jumbotron was busted the entire first half. How does that even happen. Matt Cord was making multiple mistakes on the PA. Weird stuff. The giveaways this season only being for the first 2,001 fans out of 20,000 is cutesy but actually obnoxious in reality.
Wait we actually played competitive basketball in the 3rd quarter no shot right.
I think you go Maxey, Oubre, PG, Watford and Embiid once the full team is healthy
I like Barlow but the shooting so would bring him off the bench as the teams 6 man.
Late reflection that no one will probably read:
Feels like there was an adjustment in crunch time. We didn’t go to Joel ball, we used a range of guys, got our guards going down hill and it all worked out.
Good result, good adjustment.
didnt catch the full game but i just watched the highlights. this was Joels best game on the season.
also helps that Scoot Burn was playing center.
This is the first team in the embiid era where I’m not afraid of them just being kinda frauds. If we play this hard all season, we’re gonna be a pain in the ass to beat against any team in the league. The pacers have followed this blueprint and overachieved for years.
When he comes back, PG has to come off the bench. Maxey and VJ need to grow together as the back court as they are the future, so you can’t sit VJ. Oubre has been better than PG was at any point last year. So you can either start PG over Watford or you can acclimate PG with limited minutes off the bench. I say bring him back in slow and make him earn that starting spot.
We got Embiid still balling out
Maxey playing out of his mind
Watford making a name for himself
VJ Edgecombe exceeding expectations as a rookie so far
Drummond being the rebounder we know he can be
Kelly Oubre Jr balling out
All on the same team!
Not to mention McCain, Barlow, and PG needing to be added to the team as the season goes on.
Did Howie Roseman visit the Sixers and give them tips on drafting because damn!
Anybody know where to get the sweater they showed on the broadcast? Can’t find it on the official shop
Oh shit we got Watford on a 2 yr deal?
I’m starting to think that PG was just a figment of our imagination
Is there any news about PG and that meeting with the doctors ? Would be nice to have him against the pistons considering that Joel is out and Maxey played like 40 minutes last night. And we still don’t have a player who is the type to guard other teams best player. Like , in a matchup against the Pistons I would very much like PG on Cade or if we look at other contenders like the Lakers , there is nobody to guard Luka until PG is back
This has got to be up there with the most random Sixers triple double
