Trevor Zegras, Owen Tippett come up HUGE in Flyers 6-5 shootout win. | PHLY Flyers POSTGAME
[Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Hey everybody, how you doing? Woo! Welcome to PHLY Flyers post game presented by Bet 365. Let’s get another one in. Woo! Cuz that’s how watching that game felt. Uh, like you were partying with Ric Flair. That’s what it felt like watching that freaking game. Uh, amazing, ridiculous, silly, inevitable 65 shootout win for the Philadelphia Flyers. And Charlie, I don’t even really know where to begin. Uh, oh yeah, I’m Bill Matcher, director of fun and games. Joining me live in the Xfinity studio, it is, of course, Philly’s number one hockey beat writer, Charlie O’ Conor. If we’re going to be forced to do Friday night 8:00 pm puck drops and it’s going to go to overtime 65 shootouts that see most of my bets pay off and uh a penalty shot in overtime and all sorts of ridiculous stuff happen. I’m fine. I’m fine with this outcome. It was objectively an entertaining game. it entertaining fun wild and you know this isn’t a very good team the Flyers played and ideally you’re not having to go to a shootout to beat them but purely from an entertainment value standpoint fun game it was uh there’s some things in this game that weren’t necessarily great we’re going to talk about the turnovers the uh Andrew McDonald style defense this team seems to deploy quite often but I want to lead it with Trevor Zegris And you know, we have some sponsor segments coming up. You’re like, “How isn’t he the game changer?” Well, there’s another guy we’re going to talk about, but we’re going to lead it with Trevor Zegris tonight, Charlie. Um, Jordan Bennington stopping him on the penalty shot made the shootout attempt seem personal. Yeah. And you know, Biddington uh he goes back and forth with guys on John with Deloreier at some point. and he stoned Ziggress, who is now 16 for 24 in his career in the shootout, I believe JJ said. Okay. Um, ridiculous. Huge night for Trevor Ziggress. A couple of goals and an assist on an Owen Typic goal. Uh, the only scorer in the shootout, 20 minutes of ice time. You know, he had cooled a bit uh compared to his prior pace. Um, November started to slow down. seven points or four points in seven November games before tonight. He had 12 in 10 October games. And then he just comes out couple of goals, couple of different ways. Nice setup for Tippet. Had a few other plays that easily could have uh become points for him. That uh back door pass to uh to D’vorak where he just couldn’t get all of it. Trevor Ziggress, man. Uh this guy I what an acquisition. It’s truly amazing that this guy was available for bargain price, we’ll call it. Uh he has been as advertised and better for the Flyers. I think what impressed me more than anything else in this game is the fact when I’m talking about Trevor Zager specifically is the fact that it started out so bad, you know, he he has the turnover, really bad turnover in the neutral zone early in the game. like this is like it’s as if you you get out of bed and you step on a Lego like that was functionally how this game started for Trevor Zagris and if he was as you know weakwilled and you know not a winner and can’t win with this guy if that was actually true he would have spent the rest of the game playing terribly because he gets stuck in his own head trying to make up for it pulls himself out of position cheating for offense instead he shakes it off by the end of the first period as as he I I was amused by this by the the intermission interview. He’s like, “Well, I had a bogey and a birdie, so now I’m at par.” So, by the end of the first period, he’s back at par. He makes up for his mistake and then he just keeps piling it on. I mean, that whole line, and we’ll get to the rest of the line, you know, as we get further into the show, because it wasn’t just Ziggress who was great, but Zegris makes up for his mistake and then does more and more things to make it. So, not only did he make up for his mistake and finish the game at par, you know, he he finished the game, you know, you know, minus two, minus three, you know, it’s and in this world, yes, we are talking minuses as good. Uh, exactly. Yes. So, it was minus is a waste of time. I’m talking golf here. I understand, Charlie. I just had to bake the joke. But it is uh you know in between periods I was kind of looking at some of his splits this year in like the October to November a little bit of a falloff like we kind of said well maybe he goes back to being guy on pace for 60 65 points you know like the guy who he was in those first two full years and uh just with one game kind of uh picks the pace back up. He has been uh he’s been really good and that that thing you mentioned the the will whatever it is not being the P word as so many hockey men basically call him. Yeah openly. Uh he’s not that. No, it’s clear he’s not that. That has been one of the most impressive things like yeah every I write these instant reactions and I have to come up with like a thesaurus so I don’t just use impressive vision nice find over and over. Uh all that has been great. the goal scoring uh when it shows up it seems to show up in bunches. I think he has six goals three twogoal games if I am not mistaken. Um I was very impressed and like you said that turnover was it was ooh okay. So we fell behind again and it it was bad and he owned it. He owned that it was it was a mistake and then he went out there the rest of the game and more than made up for it. Absolutely. And he was one of the Flyers two best players I would say in this one and I’m just excited watching this team. Listen, there’s a lot of flaws. They just gave up five goals to the St. Louis Blues, for instance. But my thing with this team right now, as I have said for a couple of weeks, the inconsistency is part of the build. That’s why they’re doing this part where it’s the learn to win thing. That’s what they’re doing. And this is where they are. Game 17 on November 14th. We are five, six weeks into the season. I just feel like this thing can come together now. like Dan Var has to continue to be really good because this team just falls asleep for for long stretches of time and gets pinned in their own zone. When you don’t get awesome goalending, you see exactly what happens tonight. You fall behind by two two different times. But the fact that they were able to come back and push through and like you give up that first goal in the third period after you had just fought back to tie it. H now it’s 4-3. Oh my god, it’s 5-3. What What are the Flyers going to score five goals? like they they don’t do that and uh tonight they do and it was very much in part because of Trevor Zegris but he was not alone in having a huge night and that gets us to tonight’s game changer driven by Elkins Chevrolet together let’s drive this could have easily been Zegris gets the first goal gets them on the board big night wins it in the shootout but tonight’s game changer absolutely has to be Owen Tippet Um, not just because I won the anytime gold bet and uh, you know, he was he was pretty good as Andrew now battles the mouse who has made his way into the studio. He’s just looking for this is I was trying to ignore that, but like what when it’s happening directly in front of me, I’m going to say it. Okay. Uh, anyway, Owen Tippet uh, two assists through the first two periods. Has a goal and an assist in the third. Second career fourgoal game. The last one came last December uh, like 11 months ago. uh a goal and three assists in an OT loss to Columbus. Okay. I have given Owen Tippet a ton of crap this year. Uh and really going back to not not just this year in general, going back to his exit interview, I have been accepting of Owen Tippet a lot of last year. I was like, listen, he’s going to get that hot streak and he’s going to get to his 25 28 goals and it just never happened. And all right, that happens with shooters sometimes. You just don’t you just don’t have the magic. He took like a hundred fewer shots last year. All right. And then that exit interview kind of ruined him for the summer for me and then he comes in hot. Like all right, Owen Tippet, he took it seriously. Then a 10-ame goal drought. And during that drought, he had one assist. It was the only assist he had recorded on the season. Now a four-point night, gets the big goal. Uh and the assists weren’t cheapies. uh like goes to the net and D’vorak cleans up the rebound and that puck might have gone in honestly without the uh without D’vorak helping him uh the setup uh for which goal one of the Zegris goals I think like he played a fantastic game and without Tippet this they get crushed tonight. Yeah. No, you’re you’re absolutely right. And you know, I I was a little critical of him in the pregame because I really didn’t like his response to the question about the uh the offside that takes away the uh probable game-winning goal in uh in the game earlier this week. I just didn’t like kind of the nonchalant way he answered that. But you know what? What matters more is what you do on the ice. And tonight, he more than made up for that mistake with his performance tonight. I mean, you’re you’re not even talking. Obviously, he scores the uh the game tying goal that that sends it to overtime, but you’re right. I mean, he sets up the D’vorak goal. Yeah, the D’vorak one the fourth goal cuz they’re down 5-3 and you’re thinking it’s over. I mean, we were looking at each other like, “All right, well, I guess start a start getting a head start on writing my article, whatever.” And then Tippet comes in comes in hard on that play. Does a little like he g he gains the loose puck. The uh the Blues guy was kind of fumbling it. gains the loose puck and then kind of does like a almost like a backwards pass. It was sort of no look, just the fant then De’vorak has a great shot. Rips it. Um going back, the goalie going one way, shoots the puck the other way. Great shot. But that’s the key goal this game because obviously yeah, you got to tie it at some point and then you got to win in the shootout. But that game looked over and then that play like yes, De’vorak makes a great shot, but that play doesn’t happen if Owen Tippet isn’t the first guy in making things happen. Just a fantastic all-around game by Owen Tippet. I have no complaints about even with Ziggers. You can say, well, he had that one mistake. Tippet just played a great game, period. Yeah. And that’s the I I don’t want to like bring it back to the criticism part, but this is what is frustrating to me about Owen Tippet. You know, you say like I’ve I’ve put much maligned in like three different, you know, stories and descriptions of shows and stuff today. And like, okay, you’re hating on Owen Tippet. Well, hate is not the opposite of love. My frustration with Owen Tippet comes from a place of I see he’s good. I see he is a really good player. And no, you can’t expect a four freaking point game every night. You can’t expect 82 goals. Those aren’t things that happen. But if he can just shorten these droughts and string together a few more of these games, we have, as we’ve always said with the contract, yeah, it’s about fair value. You have surplus value out the A. uh if he plays more consistently than you know six on, 10 off, you know, if he can even it out a little, five on, five off, you know, that would be one hell of a player who would finish the season with like 36 goals. Yeah. And obviously that’s the dream. The dream is is that he’s providing surplus value on that contract. He’s scoring 30 plus goals every year and maybe he gets there. But the more I watch him, the more I just think that maybe his ideal role, and maybe not yet does this contract fit this role, but in two, three years it very well will as the cap goes up. Maybe his ideal role is basically just like third line wing who eight or nine times a year single-handedly wins you a game and he he’s going to be, you know, in that second or third wave of your forward depth on a really good team. Maybe that’s all he can be, but he’s still a kind of guy where, you know, a contending team is going to want him, you know, because you want to have that guy who can change who who can win you one game of a seven game series. You know, yeah, he might be invisible. He might be frustrating, but he can do things like this. And not a lot of guys can do things like this on a regular basis. He can also go completely silent for weeks at a time and be extremely frustrating. And yeah, maybe right now 6.25 25 or whatever the exact cap is. Maybe that’s too much right now. But when everybody’s getting 10 mil, maybe that works. Maybe it works. No. When like a decent I’m listening to uh 32 thoughts today and they’re like Pinto just signed an extension and it’s like well what do you think he’d be worth on the open market and uh Bukas is like I don’t know eight and a half nine higher. like he’s a 10 million and like listen that’s a 2C maybe like he awesome start to the year and everything but like 10 million is going to be a number that we don’t recogni like oh really for that middle six guy yep that’s that’s what it costs that is what it costs and I am I’m elated with the Owen Tippet performance tonight like you said no notes no notes on Owen Tippet I just wish we could see it a little bit more but like I said in pregame when he scores he scores in bunches so perhaps this is the beginning of something, Charlie. And it is just the beginning of the show. Plenty more to come. We’re going to talk about Tippet’s line. We’re going to talk about Sam Harrison’s night, Charlie’s three stars, so much. But now got to tell you about Bet 365. Whatever the moment, it’s never ordinary at Bet 365. And I owe it to my man OT tonight because some of my pregame picks paid off with uh with Tippet scoring, with the game going to overtime. Break out the uh the Russell Crow and Gladiator image. Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? All right. Uh, keeping with the Owen Tibbit theme, we have to talk about that line as a whole. We’ve already talked about uh twothirds of it. But man, I know like Vladar has been sensational. Zris, I I’m running out of uh I’m running out of adjectives, but we’re gonna I think starting next week, we’re going to have a segment that’s the unsung hero. D’vorak has kind of filled that role all year as one of the more consistent performers on this team. He came into the game with uh three goals, nine points in 16 games. Has a three-point night tonight. Good in the faceoff circle. I mean, yeah, you look at the number as we’ve said every time. Okay. Yeah, he’s overpaid, but is he really? Does it even matter? And then you get a night like tonight. Maybe he’s the third guy. Maybe he’s not overpaid. Maybe he’s the third guy on that line, but it’s like performed like a first line and then some. Yeah. The thing about D’vorak, and this is always going to be the thing with him. By the eye test, he’s never going to be flashy. He’s just he’s very much like a uh you know, meat and potatoes type player. And he had some really nice nice nice plays in this game. Some really good shots. I I enjoyed watching him, but most of the time he’s not going to be doing things that make you stand up. He’s not a Zagers. He’s not a Mishkov. He’s not even a connect or tippet. Like, he’s just kind of there. But it’s clearly providing value for the Philadelphia Flyers. I think, you know, look, I don’t want to say that Trevor Ziggers is a product of Christian D’vorak because he clearly is not. But I do think Christian D’vorak is helping him. I think Christian D’vorak by being that stabilizing presence generally speaking on the same line as Ziggris. I think it’s allowing Ziggris to be a little bit more freewheeling. I I think it’s helping. This was something I was thinking of a couple days ago with D’vorak and and I know there’s the like, well, they paid him too much and it is an overpay for a one-year deal to be sure, but again, there are very few bad one-year deals. what he’s reminding me of. And there’s differences. Obviously, this guy was significantly bigger, played a more distinctive style, but he’s more or less providing what Kevin Hayes provided. That is an interesting That is an interesting way to put it. That first year with Hayes feels so magical because of the shorties and the game winners. Yeah. But like the scoring numbers weren’t phenomenal. No, he was just good. And what they needed was a good steadying force. And that is exactly what he has provided uh what D’vorak has provided for this team and really what he he was it seems brought in to kind of be the counterpart to Ziggris. Yeah. And he is filling that role uh perfectly I would say. um like okay he had a bad night in the faceoff circle against Edmonton as did as did everyone on the team but I I can’t like I can’t point to much where it’s you know if it was someone other than D’vorak like he’s come through when needed to and quietly putting together one of the more consistent seasons of anyone on this roster they’ve been obviously higher highs you know Mishkov coming off a three-game goal streak uh the way the Kates line started the season tippet to start the year but De’Vorak just all the way through seems to be just kind of getting the job done. Yeah, he’s a perfectly solid player. And again, the reason why I go back to to Kevin Hayes as a comparable is Kevin Hayes is the kind of guy where it’s like, okay, well, they signed him to be the 2C, but he’s probably more of like a middle six center. And this exactly what D’vorak has been, and he’s not going to he’s not going to show up on the highlight reels very often. That’s just not his game. But he’s just playing good all-around solid hockey. And one thing that that I did like about the signing, and I I talked about this in the article I wrote on the signing when they announced it, the one thing that gave me some hope that maybe there was a little bit more there with D’vorak was that D’vorak’s best seasons came under. And I was wondering, you know, maybe he could just be a good fit with this coach. And sometimes that may frustrate fans because they may be like, why is Christian Dvorak getting 20 minutes a night? This is ridiculous. But it does seem like D’Vorak is a good fit for the style of play and the system that Rick Tockett wants his team to play. And there’s value in that. There absolutely is. And here’s the thing. Yeah. Do we want D’vorak getting maybe that much ice time? Not especially. But he gets 1614 tonight and Trevor Ziggress gets 20. Trevor Ziggress has the has the uh benefit of power play time and the Flyers actually did not march non-stop to the penalty box tonight. So that was nice to see and that has led to like a lot of D’vorax inflated uh ice time some games. But if it gets Zegris’s playmaking ability on the ice more to the coach is confident he can have a flashy guy who can have when he’s trying to make a play bad turnovers like not seeing a guy cutting across the neutral zone to pick off his uh to pick off his flat pass. like, “All right, if we can cut down on that because we have a steadying force out there. I can play them both more.” And the more Travis Iris is on the ice, the better everyone in Philadelphia should feel about this hockey team. Like, if one leads to the other, then I will deal with D’vorak like until we get someone better. And that’s, you know, Yeah. It would be awesome to have a 1C. We don’t. So, right now, this is the situation. And he’s done very well. Yeah. And I wouldn’t say he’s the one center, but he’s just another quality enough center option who can give you minutes and who’s going to help the wingers because that was that was a low-key thing. That was a big reason why they signed was that their thing was we want to make sure that our wingers and we have a lot of young wingers who were still in the developmental process are not going to have to spend, you know, 25 games getting centered by Rodrigo Wobbles or Carson Dor. Like is D’vorak an incredibly skilled offensive weapon? No. But he’s good enough. He’s good enough that you can stick him with a Forester, you can stick him with a Ziggress, you can stick him with a Tippet. And he’s not going to hold them back. And then that’s important for developmental purposes. I think the perfect like not holding them back is huge. Like you said, these this team’s options at center are like, “All right, Coots is going to get his time. Kate’s we’ll probably start the year at that line together and we’ll see how it goes.” And so far, you know, it’s stayed together as long as Forster’s been healthy. Where do the other centers come from? Yes, it would be awesome if Zegris kind of just took the reigns of that was an, you know, every shift center. That’s not where he’s at right now. That’s not where the coach is at with him. So, here we are and the situation has worked out pretty well. All right, Charlie. Uh, we talked about some of these positives. Zegris, his line, uh, Tippet, you know, the fun parts of tonight’s game. I want to start with the puck management and the turnovers, the failed clears, and all of that leading to the uh, McDonaldike defense I uh, I referred to earlier in the show. This team doesn’t give up a ton of shots. They uh, what was it? 17 that the uh, the Blues got on net tonight. 65minute game, 17 shots on goal. Yeah, you’ll take that from your defense and you allow 17, you probably shouldn’t give up five. We’ll talk about airs later, but there the chances the Blues did get. It was like the seas were parting and it’s just look at the time and space this team has and then okay, they found the trailer who’s coming downhill and yep, they ripped one over Sam’s shoulder. I will give Sam crap for some of them, but a lot of it was just NHL players with that much time and space are going to pick a corner. Yeah. Yeah, I I I think that’s fair. But yeah, I’m going back through. I’m trying to see the the shot the shots on goal here. It looks like Sorry, I I was focused on video, I believe, cuz I want to see when they allow their last shot on goal in regulation. They give up one shot on goal in the overtime period, but it looks like St. Louis got to 16 shots around like the 14minute mark of the third and then they didn’t get another shot the rest of regulation. like the Flyers fully and then they obviously come back, they score two to tie it. They went fully into we are not letting Sam Harrison see another puck in this game and it worked. They came back and won it. This team has not blocked shots at a I mean near the rate they did under Tortoella. John Tordella was the coach for the final for the second half of the third period tonight. That’s what it felt like. They were very much can’t let anything through because we’ve already erased two two goal deficits. we’re not letting this one get away. And I understand that entirely. Uh but I just feel throughout the course of regulation, you know, they they have in third periods locked it the hell down. Uh denied any real scoring chances for big chunks of games. And then there are times where they’re just backing up, backing up, backing up, and just giving all the room in the world. I get keeping stuff to the outside and protecting the goalies, letting them see the shot. That’s fine, but you need to create turnovers and stuff too sometimes. Like this team has tonight, notwithstanding, had some trouble scoring. Perhaps if you created a few more opportunities for yourself with turnovers, you would get more chances to score on the rush like so many of these guys are good at. Yeah, I think there there’s a distinction that needs to be made here in terms of the the backing up, especially on uh you know, in terms of gap control, in terms of rush coverage, and the collapsing defensive zone structure. I don’t necessarily see a major issue with the protect the middle, keep them to the outside defensive zone structure. I think you can win with that. Now, obviously, you need to force some turnovers occasionally so you don’t like never have the puck, but that I think can work. What can’t work and what did happen too much tonight was, as you mentioned, the backing up on rush coverage. You know, when when they’re when when they’re doing gap control in the neutral zone and they were just letting the the the Blues just ease their way into the offensive zone. You can’t do that. Like, you have to challenge. And I’m sure that’s something that Taket is going to to emphasize when they do their next video study because it was glaring in this game. It was glaring how often they were pulling full Andrew McDonald and just being like, “Yeah, you can gain the blue line, no problem.” And it’s caused a couple of issues. One for me, like I just the time and space it creates and it just, you know, the scars of watching number 47 do it for five years. There’s another 47 on the ice right now. So that brings it back up. Every time I see Jules, I’m like, “Oh no, he’s back.” That number should be retired. Not in the rafters, just kind of like out of circulation. Um just it’s terrible. But watching this team, the way they defend at times can be real frustrating. And it’s when the rush is when it bothers me, the rush. Yeah. But when the rush turns into possession and they’re still they haven’t jumped back up into their lanes a lot of times tonight, the Blues would find the trailer and if they didn’t have a clear shot, there’d be another pass and then the Flyers were still back. Yeah. And it would one give all the time and space in the world and two create unnecessary traffic in front of Arison because Arison typically pretty good with the first shot. Uh tonight he got burned a few times but I think most NHL goalies if you give them the shot they are able to uh they are able to stop it nine times out of 10. And tonight there was just a lot going on in front of him. Not just with St. Lewis creating havoc but with his own guys kind of just collapsing too tightly. Uh but the rush coverage that has been kind of for a few games like an issue I think. Yeah. I just think they need to be more aggressive. They they can’t be this passive. It does seem and again I’m not necessarily opposed to being passive in the D zone especially in certain circumstances when you’re just trying to like hey you want the outside we will give you all the perimeter shots you want but you can’t be passive in the neutral zone. And I know based on my conversations with players and with Tocket that they do not want them they they want them surfing. They want them challenging, you know, plays at the blue line, they just haven’t been doing a good enough job of it over these last couple games, particularly tonight. Like not absolving Harrison, and we’ll get to him in a second, but there were defensive breakdowns in this game. There were quite a few. There were there were a number of them. And uh I think it’s exacerbated by the number of failed clears, turnovers that they had. Uh, and that’s part of when you’re sagged back and the one man along the boards doesn’t get the puck out. Now, no one’s in position because they’re all just kind of really spread out and you’re not able to protect the middle and that burned them a few times tonight. All right. Uh, coming up on the other side, we’re going to talk about Sam Ers. We are going to talk about tonight’s big takeaway. Uh, and we’re going to have Charlie’s three stars, all sorts of stuff. But right now, it’s time to tell you about Elkins. Listen up Flyers fans. You know who is dishing those championship level Black Friday deals. Um if you only watched overtime in the shootout, you think he was the best goalie in the world. It is phenomenal. like you see these numbers and once again they are a little deflated because the Flyers don’t give up shots ever, right? Uh they gave up 17 tonight and five goals go in. So yeah, 706 that’s that’s rough. I don’t know what to make of Sam Harrison’s season because I keep saying yeah the numbers are horrible and I don’t think he’s been horrible but he hasn’t been good. Well, I I think tonight like I I’ve been defending Arison and you know, basically being like, “Yeah, the save percentage doesn’t look good, but if you adjust for qu for the quality of the shots he’s faced, he’s been average, decent, average.” Tonight, he was bad. Now, granted, comes through in a big way in the shootout. So, that’s that’s part of it. You know, he he’s a really good shootout goalie. And apparently, even when he’s having nights where he’s struggling in every other facet, he’s still a really good shootout goalie. Two saves and a miss. But this was a bad game by Arison. Objectively speaking, there were multiple goals that I think he should have stopped. the the one really really bad one was the point shot. That that’s one where it’s just like you have to stop that. That’s that’s a relatively, you know, boilerplate save for a goalie and he just whiffs on it. That was bad. The uh the fourth goal, the one coming right out of the intermission in the third period. That one like it didn’t look like he was screened, but it looked like he found a way to almost screen himself. Like he walked himself into a screen. He walked himself into a screen. Exactly. That’s a great way to put it. And I personally didn’t like the first goal either because in my view like Yeah, you were tougher on the first goal than I I know Jordan Kyu has a really good shot. He’s he’s a really good shooter. But you have the angle on that play. There’s no real passing option. So it’s not like you’re worrying about a pass on a twoon-one. Like that’s a goal that you have to stop. Especially, you know, a minute 30 into a game. Like you can’t you got to bail out Trevor Zaggers. He’s been so good for for this team this year. You got to bail him out. and instead he just misses it. There that’s three goals out of five. I I I’ll give him a pass on the second one and I’ll give him a pass on the fifth one. But those three you need saves on those. And like as I said, I’m usually an Arison defender aside from the shootout because he only he only faces one shot in overtime even though the the Blues have the puck for pretty much the entirety of the first three minutes. The shootout he’s objectively good but in regulation like this is a game the Flyers should have won in regulation. They should have won this in regulation and they don’t because Arison didn’t play well. Yeah, that’s the It is another Listen, it’s great. You get two points. You get two points on the road. That’s tremendous. It is a backto-back situation. You played 65 minutes tonight. Now you got to go play a really freaking good Dallas team. And so it’s well no harm, no foul. They win the game. But also, you know, maybe you’d have a little more in the tank if you didn’t have to go 65 minutes tonight. Like I I I just I am running out of patience with Aerson and may like there’s nothing that can be done. I guess they could trade for another goalie, but like the whole league needs goalies right now. That is not a great use of assets for the Flyers, I don’t think, in this season. Uh I I I I’m not super interested in anything but the, you know, emergency call up for uh for Kolasav. Don’t want to do that to Bjarnes. That seems foolish. Yeah. So, like it’s just kind of as long as Fedar keeps it up and he’s able to handle a number one workload because that’s kind of my question now with him. I think his career high in starts is 29. Um, if he you’re able to figure out how to get the most out of Lar as you have to this point, it’s just going to be one out of every three Sam comes in and you don’t know what the hell you’re going to get. So, here’s one thing that people may find interesting about Arison and the team dynamic here because I I and I see it. I see it in the in the chat and I’m not criticizing because I get it. There are people in the chat being like, you know, how could Flyers players have faith in Sam Harrison. They have no confidence in him and and tonight it certainly looked like they knew he was struggling. Obviously, they go back to the the tors block everything in sight strategy in the Dzone in the second half of the third period because like, well, our goalie ain’t playing well. I guess we got to play goalie tonight. But I want to rewind the clock back a couple days because the last game Lar plays very well and we’re in a scrum with Travis Kaknne and I asked him a question about Lar and it was not I didn’t I purposely did not frame the question as like how does it feel to have a true number one goalie you know with with Lar playing as well as he did. I’ve literally just framed the question as like is it surprising to you that this guy who you’ve only been he’s only been your teammate for a month month and a half like are you surprised that like it’s now just like an expectation that he’s going to have strong games like there’s there’s no doubt that like he’s going to come out and have a game like this and before he even brings up Vladar he’s like well we got two goalies like that we got two goalies that we trust like say say what you will about Sam Harrison and his numbers. This team believes in him. They do. They believe he’s a good goalie. You You’re free to believe he sucks. But the players in the team, for whatever it’s worth, they think he’s good. Now, they clearly didn’t think he was good tonight, but they believe that Sam Harrison is a good goalie. And as long as they have that faith in him, they’re going to keep throwing him out there. And they have to. I I don’t need Vidar starting 65 games. I don’t really know what that accomplishes quite honestly in a season where yeah, they could make the playoffs and down the stretch if he’s still playing like this, you’re going to have to just put him out there every night, but it is about like I want Sam to get the opportunity because I think maybe they actually do think he’s really good. Like that that’s possible. I think he just earned so much respect in that room taking it on the chin the way he did after Carter Hart left. baby. Like I think it still goes back to that and then last season where they don’t have another option. Like for for a season and a half it was and we’ll see who we can get on a jet over here from Russia. Like that’s that’s basically what it was. And I think he’s just earned a ton of respect for that and he deserves it. Like he’s in a contract here, you know? He’s he’s trying to keep his NHL dream alive. his numbers are never going to be what they maybe could be, especially the last year and a half because he’s just out there every game and there’s no one else. If he’s tired, if he needs a break, if he’s got a little tweak, but he can’t say he’s hurt, not injured, you know, he’s just going to be out there and his numbers have taken the beating for it. Maybe that’s a little bit of it, but I’m telling you like and and I see it here like I see Venit Singh is like, “Well, of course TK would say that, but it doesn’t mean he believes it.” Like I can tell you this like look I I’m not saying I am like the perfect arbiter of sincerity but like to me the answer that Kknne gave to me a couple days ago about that that was not a like well I’m just I’m just backing my teammate because they like him. That was coming from a place of we see all the criticism Arison gets and we think it’s BS. We think he’s good so shut the hell up about him. I’m telling you this is what the team believes. Now again, you you’re free to disagree, but like this is not a case of like you you see it on social media all the time where it’s like, “Oh, well, Rick Tockets saying Shan Couturier is good friends with Mishkov. He must be lying.” Like they believe it. They think he’s good and they think that the numbers do not accurately describe the quality of goalie that he is. Again, you’re free to disagree. I’m just reporting the vibe I’m getting from the players in the room. They jump at the chance. I even I didn’t even say the name Sam Erison and he the first words out of his mouth are Ericson’s real good too. Like they think he’s good. They do. They have confidence in him. I also just I like this dynamic because you’ve been at this a little while now, Charlie. And Travis Kenkne, he’s he’s not a young kid anymore. Veteran player, veteran reporter. You both know what you’re getting at without saying it. That’s a nice little That’s a nice little battle. That’s the game within the game. I like that, Charlie. Uh yeah. Um I Travis Kaknne can and the team can think whatever the hell they want and we can think whatever the hell we want. I think it’s good if they think that cuz that means they will play confidently in front of him cuz we have seen teams that don’t trust the goalie and everything else falls apart and perhaps their ability to come back tonight and like yeah okay we have to block some shots and do that thing but we also need to push for offense because we’re down two again. It’s tough to push for offense when you think if you know a guy poke checks me the puck is gonna be in the back of the net. It’s tough to do that. Sometimes you have to just say screw it, don’t care because we’re down two. But I think as long as they’re confident, they can play confident in front of him. It doesn’t really matter if he sucks or not. He could be great, he could be not. Doesn’t matter if they think it. That probably helps. I mean, what it comes down to in the end is that if it’s the if if at the end of the season his save percentage is like 858, that’s going to decide everything. They’re not going to keep throwing starts at a goalie who performs that poorly over a large sample size. But I’m just saying that the players in that room believe that he is good. They I really do believe that they sincerely think that Sam Harrison is a good goalie and that he’s bailed them out on a number of occasions and they think eventually the numbers are going to get better. And I guess we’ll just wait and see if they’re right tonight. They were wrong, but they won anyway. Sure. Few more things to get to on tonight’s show. Listen, everyone’s got their favorite hard tea right now. It’s the hot thing, but the random one you pick up at the store, you’re going to try. You ever turn it around and check out the ingredients? I am really proud of my timing tonight. Usually it’s it’s an S show. Uh we have an insane amount of super chats. There are so many super chats. So, let’s get through these last couple of things here. Uh first one, the big takeaway now presented by Xfinity. My big takeaway, Charlie, uh at first it was just going to be giveaways. Like, oh, my takeaway is giveaways, but we’ve harped too much on the negative. Um, it’s just kind of ridiculous. My big takeaway is I’m going to bet overtime every game for the rest of the year. Eight out of 17, nearly half of their games. We’re now like five or six weeks into the season. I guess there’s something to, and it was similar with Tortoella. when you have a team that lacks that elite talent outside of a couple of guys perhaps you try to keep it close competitive you work hard all that stuff tonight is a a 10goal game and still we are how how does this keep hap like are they playing for overtime is this their goal because they’re unbeatable in shootouts in at the end of regulation they have been they absolutely have been on a few of these games where it’s like oh final 30 seconds okay we’re just going play pass the puck around because we want to go to overtime. We want to get the point. So that has happened sometimes. I just think it’s a byproduct of the fact because I I don’t think this is a talentless team anymore. No, like that is not you mentioned about like well you know they don’t have a lot honestly they kind of do. Like do they need more? Sure. But they got Maf Mishkov, they got Trevor Ziggus. Travis Kknney is a darn good first line winger. He is. Despite the fact that some people seemingly want to fire him into the sun, he’s a real good offensive player. He is. That’s a fact. They have guys who can score. So, like I don’t think it’s the it’s a lack of high-end talent the same way it was three years ago. I think it’s that Rick Tocket has them playing a very defensively oriented style. Now, tonight was an aberration, but generally speaking, it’s a lowevent style. Okay. They are playing low event hockey. And if you’re playing lowevent hockey and you’re not an elite team, you’re going to be in a lot of close games. And if you’re in a lot of close games, a lot of those are going to go into overtime. Absolutely. Uh so that is the big takeaway. My big takeaway is every game for the rest of the year is probably going to overtime. Seven or eight out of 17, three in a row, four out of five. It’s It’s unbelievable. Free hockey every night with the Philadelphia. I mean, I’m losing my mind, but I I get it. I don’t love it. I’m just It’s hilarious. Not a fan. It’s honestly hilarious. Play more games that end regulation, please. Real quick on Emil Andre uh and the uh defensive deployment tonight. Uh well, pretty even uh in terms of minutes. Andre gets 18 minutes. He’s plus four with a couple of assists. We talked in pregame. Doesn’t feel like a rotation anymore. I think this is going to buy him a little bit more of that leash to uh stay in the lineup for the time being. Uh yes, I would say that Emil Andre, spoiler alert, he just may end up on my three stars. Um but no, he’s he’s staying in the lineup. He wasn’t perfect in this game. There was one of the goals he did get worked down below the below the goal line leads to a uh you know a goal. I think it was the uh I think it was the fifth one. I think that was the the goal where he got uh he got beat down low, but the things he’s able to do in the offensive zone, the the the help that he provides on the breakout. Yeah. There there aren’t many defenseman on this team can that can do the things that he can. He’s got to stay in the lineup. And we we’ve said this dating back to to training camp that he was clearly one of the six best defenseman in this organization in terms of NHL ready guys. They sent him down for reasons. Now he’s back up and he’s playing pretty well. So yeah, I I can’t imagine he comes out of the lineup anytime soon. All right. Finally, uh it was funny in the third period you were like, “Huh, feels like they’re cutting back on Misha’s ice time a little bit.” But it turns out uh Mav Mishkov, yeah, he plays 14 minutes, but I think the most he played was in the third. Uh 628. He did get one shift in overtime. Um just a quiet night for him. He had a couple of uh near chances, but we always have to do the Mishkav of it all. And uh yeah, I mean, he’s the main I’m sure people are very angry even though they won because Mishov didn’t get enough ice time. There are nights where I am annoyed with the ice time and then there are nights when one line accounts for five goals. I [Laughter] I can’t what should they not be on the ice? Should the line that can’t stop scoring not be out there? Like I don’t know. I guess take some ice time away from the fourth line or whatever. But like tonight’s not that night where I’m going to be annoyed about that thing in particular. I hope he starts playing more soon. I think he’s gonna really start get going at some point. It just wasn’t that kind of night tonight. I I would have liked to see him get a couple more shifts in in overtime, I think. But I don’t think this was one I don’t think he was bad, but he wasn’t consistently impactful in the way that he has been the last couple games where it’s like, oh man, he’s back. This wasn’t that game. He was fine. He had a couple good plays. I probably would have tried to get him a few more minutes, but I’m I This wasn’t a game where where I think he should have gotten 20. No, maybe he should have gotten 16. I’m fine with Yeah, two more minutes. And like listen, there was what, one power play in the game a piece. Like that’s some of his ice time there. All right, time for Charlie O’ Conor’s three stars of the game. And for the first time in a while, it’s uh you got you got some choices here. Let’s hear who’s star number three. Star number three is Emil Andre, who we just discussed. I thought he was strong all around in this game. uh finishes with 18 minutes, so he’s getting more ice time, two assists. He’s a plus four. Finishes with uh the best um expected goal share on ice expected goal share, five on five of anybody on the Flyers. Fantastic advanced stat game for him. He was at up at 79% in terms of expected goal share. Look, one of the frustrating parts about the third pair over the first, let’s say, two, three weeks of the season is that the third pair is the sheltered pair. Yeah. And if you’re getting sheltered minutes, you should be winning those minutes. And the third pair pre-andre callup was not winning their minutes. They were getting brutalized by the opposition. If you’re getting third pair of minutes, which Andre is getting right now, you’re going to get the matchups that come with third pair of minutes, and you should be winning those minutes. And Andre is winning those minutes. Is Andre ready to be a top four defenseman at the NHL level? I don’t think he’s there yet. I don’t think he’s he’s there. Maybe he was during that stretch before I ticked off John Tordella by saying that he’s a second pair of defenseman, a top four defenseman. I don’t think he’s there yet, but he’s clearly ready enough to kill it in sheltered minutes and sheltered third pair of minutes, and that’s all they needed. So, Emil Andre, this game, I thought this was probably his best game since joining the Flyers this season and he’s had a lot of pretty good games. This just happened to be his best one. And because of that, I’m giving him third start. And I appreciate that Rick Tocket recognized it. Uh 18 minutes, that’s by far the most he’s played this year. He gets his first two points of the season. He said, “If guys are going, I’m going to get them out there.” And he did that uh with Emil Andre tonight. So, that’s a good third star. Who is star number two? Star number two is Trevor Ziggress. I think he would have been first star had he scored on the penalty shot and gotten the hat-tick, then he would have been first star, but in a game where there are a few guys who very could have very well could have been deserving of first star, he loses the tiebreaker because he did give up a goal. Basically that one goal happens, the one Blues goal happens because of the bad turnover for Ziggress and that puts him just a step below first start. Another guy who easily could have been in this top three, Christian D’vorak. Great game, but I wanted to highlight Andre because I thought he had a uh he had a very good game and I do think that Zegris and the other guy who I have yet to mention in this three stars. I think they were the drivers of that line, but D’vorak was very good as well. And if you want to make him third star and just have that whole line be one, two, three, that works too. I am still baffled that he didn’t score on that penalty shot. But tonight’s first story is who, Charlie? It’s Owen Tippet. You know, four-point game. He He’s is a direct contributor, not just involved, but he’s a direct contributor in the goal that puts them back in the game. The fourth goal, he sets that up for D’vorak and then obviously scores the game, tying goal. I I didn’t like his reaction to the uh the the offside uh in that game a couple days ago. I loved his response tonight. This is what you needed to see from Owen Tippets. You know, you know, if if you’re going to do response games like this, I don’t care what quote you give. Just go out there when you make a mistake and then the next game perform like this and no one’s going to care if you come off a little wishy-washy in a quote. Maybe you, I, you know, and Tippet all have a little more in common than I thought. Writer, storyteller, what’s the number one rule, Charlie? Show don’t tell. He doesn’t have to tell us if he keeps showing. Exactly. And that is what earned him tonight’s first star. Let’s hit those super chats. All right, we’re gonna have to kind of speed these because there’s so freaking there’s so many. Okay, uh let’s start it with uh Keegan 6839. Uh Keegan says Harrison stinks like moldy cheese moldy cheese. Where’s Kolasov? I really don’t think they’re going to like I I I gather this is something that’s there’s like a ground swell on Twitter of like, oh why don’t you just call off Kolasov? I think we saw that this year is going is the like let’s see what we have in Var and Arison. If at the end of the season Arison’s numbers are still trash and he never gets better by the numbers then I could easily see them moving on from Arison. I think that’s a legitimate possibility. But for this season, I do think it’s going to be Larrison and you just kind of have to get used to it. All right. From DA Flyers, man says, “Arison Parrison’s in shambble, but we win.” Woo! And again, he did play well in the shootout. He is bad in regulations. He’s the best ever in the shootout. He’s like, he should just go to the Olympics and be like, oh yeah, out of the bullpen. All right. From Adam S, uh, Twitter saying talk has an anti-Russian bias. Uh, any truth or BS? Twitter also said that that Sean Couturier hated Mave Mishkov. So maybe don’t trust everything you see. I I can’t I I don’t want to do that right now. That was a fun game. Uh from W Borro goal, uh Zegris is Zuro, hands like a fencer. How do you feel about the nickname Ziggy? Because I love it. Uh it’s pretty good. It’s a solid nickname. Yeah. I mean, it’s not elite, but it’s not Ziggs or Zager. At least it’s a little different. Ziggy. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Does it does remind me of that annoying character in the second season of The Wire, and I don’t love that, but it’s other than that, it’s a solid nickname. He always pissed me off for one particular reason. He had Ziggy across his knuckles, and the Y was on the thumb. I was like, “No, you can’t do it. Sorry, it doesn’t fit. That’s stupid.” All right. Uh, from Dylan M. Dylan says, “Let’s go Flyers. How do you think Tocket will adjust the forward lines for tomorrow night if at all?” I I would hope they put I mean, you have two I hope they put Benin in cuz Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, cuz like that would be my adjustment. You bring Gerbankin in for Deloreier, but they’re certainly not going to break up the D’vorak line. They’re not going to break up the Kate’s line. And therefore, by default, you kind of have to have the other top nine line together. I would move Gerbankin in for Deloreier. We’ll see if they actually do it. I think that would make sense just cuz in a backto-back I would think I’m gonna have to roll the lines a little bit more than usual because the guys are a little tired. All right, Tony Esargo. I love Tony so much. Um, Chuck Bill Tony Esargo has entered the chat and he’s not happy. Talk us if Mishkov is malpractice. I can’t take it. Why let him play? We’re in a rebuild. Also, Sam Anderson is buns. Big buns. I love buns. That’s hilarious. Um, that’s just a very funny insole. It’s still early, guys. I just I’m not complaining about Mishkov’s ice time on a night when Zris has three points and the shootout winner and Owen Tippet, who I’ve been railing on all year, has four points. That’s not going to be what I’m going to do tonight. I I just I I wonder what it’s going to take for Mishko not to be the main character for people. Like what will it take? Porter Martone wins Hobie Baker makes the team. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Uh Adam asks, “Uh Ziggress is my favorite player right now.” And yeah, that’s uh Zegris a big Olympics. I think Zagris could overtake Mishkav. I maybe he is just because of the start he’s off to, but people already have that investment in Meech from last year. Uh, too many Twitter wars you can’t just concede on like you’re talking about Demidov over here. I’m talking about an American. Damn it. Uh, all right. From uh from Hatames. Seems like the Flyers have the better Kyu. You were telling me about the uh the other Kyrie. Christian Kyu is playing pretty darn well in the uh in the AHL. I mean, he’s basically taking over the Emil Andre role where he’s he’s power play. He’s kind of their their offensive driver, but he’s racking up the points down there. All right. From Brendan. Oh, no. This is JH. Sorry. Uh, nice to see shootout juggernaut Sam striking. I’m telling you, man. It’s unbelievable. I’m telling you, they got to they got to create a uh in the new arena, they got to have a bullpen for like a like a stretch of ice deep in the boughels of the new arena that allows Arison to uh to basically warm up so he can come in not cold and play shootouts. Only shootouts. I’m going to be honest with you here, Charlie. I think that is a great idea, but like if Arison is still here when that place opens in like 2029, I am going to be the most shocked person in the world. Uh this one is Brendan Martin. Uh should the Flyers send Aerson to Reading? He can live in the Pagota. He is your backup goalie right now. Yeah, he’s your backup goal. That’s just the way it is. The We’re at 02 is overtime, right, Andrew? We started at 02. Cool. Um, from Tyler Ryan, is it me or is Nick Cer quietly playing real good? I don’t know if I would say real good, but he’s been Nick Cer. Yeah. Yeah. In a night where suddenly it became very important to block shots, uh, Nick Cer was Nick Cer again. True. I just like Nick Cer. Honestly, he is the perfectly acceptable tough defenseman to me. He’ll just do whatever he has to do for the team. He’s a steady Eddie. Yeah. All right. David Shub. David says, “Uh, I’ve seen a lot of talk hate online. It bothers me. His coaching staff have fixed the power play and we have been in it all season and we don’t suck.” Yeah, I’m looking for the level up. Uh, but right now I’m excited because they’re winning more than they’re losing and there’s another level for this team to get to, I believe, as they figure out more and more what Tocket wants of them. They build chemistry, maybe have some more regular lines. Like I just think this thing is trending up right now and so I can’t be mad at Tocket all too much. Yeah. And I also think a lot of the talk hate is coming from people who never wanted him hired in the first place. So I think there’s there’s a little bit of confirmation bias here. But I mean if the team keeps winning eventually you’re going to have to acknowledge that he’s not doing a terrible job and he’s not a blithering idiot. All right. They if they stop winning then you can get on that train. Absolutely. And while we’re finishing up super chats 277 likes get us to three. This was a fun night. Shiserheiser. Andre has earned the extra minute he got today. The extra minutes he got today and he sure took advantage of the opportunity. Heck of a game by the kid. Loved the show. Go Flyers. Yeah, he was one of Charlie’s stars in a night where there were options. All right, from Keegan again, uh, earn the coach’s trust after being on fire, whereas Kaknne had an awful turnover game and played eight more minutes. I I do want to point this out because I sort of hinted at it um I sort of hinted at it earlier in the show, but I’m seeing a lot of connect hate on on the socials and it strikes me as very weird. It’s just like he had an eightgame point streak and then all I was seeing was like, oh yeah, but none of those points mattered. It’s like a lot of them did. Like are are people hating on Kknney because his name is not Baf Mishkov? I think it’s a little of that familiarity breeds contempt sort of thing like people are just tired of Travis Kaknne. Well, he signed for like seven more years so deal with it. I understand he had the you know he had what couple of goals in the second half of last season. He’s not scoring at that 30 goal rate even though he has been racking up assists pretty well even without the you know 30 plus goals. But I I think there’s, you know, some people it’s hard it’s hard to make everyone. It’s just weird to me. Like I I’m I’m surprised at how much hate I’m seeing directed at Travis Kne who is like scoring in every game for three weeks. And with that, we’re headed to overtime. Go to all phy.com to continue watching tonight’s program. All right, let’s finish up these super chats. Uh this is the David one. Uh Meech needs his minutes sheltered and fans need to grow up about it. He came into the season out of shape. It’s pretty black and white. I mean, that is clearly an element of this as we discussed in our big Mishkov Couturier show earlier this week. But it’s also fair to point out that he was on a three-game goal streak going into this game and maybe, you know, you would think maybe he put a little bit of money in the bank before this one, but apparently not. And they were all like game tying goals, I’m pretty sure. Like it wasn’t, you know, they were big goals. His first goal of the season, it was like garbage time goal. Garbage time. These goals matter meaningful goals that kind of sparked the game for the team. All right. Uh, next one here from Will Wadsworth. Will says, “Is the tippet of goalies? He will have a heroic streak of three to four games and then turn into Swiss cheese randomly for a few games. We have seen inconsistencies this year. I don’t know if we’ve seen the real upswing out of him yet. Uh, but I’m hoping to see it because I I do, like I said earlier, the team respects him. I think I do quite a bit as well.” I just think that like you’re going to have to watch him all season long, so you might as well root for him to be better. Yeah. Yeah. He’s not going anywhere, at least for this year. Brian Michael Jacobs, I appreciate what you guys do. Always look forward to watching. Also, Garnet Hathaway’s father is the coolest looking human being I’ve ever seen. Haway’s dad and Jules’s dad are had a stellar mustache. Absolutely. Stellar mustache on Noah Jules’s father. All right, another one here from David. Sam is bad luck. Uh, Black Cloud hanging over him 24/7. Yeah, but they win games when he plays. He’s got three wins. Uh, he’s what, 3-1 and two? Like, he’s got one regulation loss for as bad as his numbers are. All right, another one here from David. Uh, Hathaway’s dad used to be a roadie for Joe Walsh. Uh, all that could be true, honestly. Super chats. It’s basically the brothers. Yes, they they’re just super chatting us like crazy now. Yes. Uh, I I honestly believe that true. I don’t even know if that’s a joke. Uh, Emil Andre with a sneaky good game. I think it was better than sneak. Couple of points. Legitimately good. Couple of points plus four. Uh Devin 93. Arison uh shootout save percentage is 800. His season save percentage is 866. Remember when we were uh a couple of years ago when they were scoring all the shorties and it was like pretty close with power play goals, short-handed goals for a while. What if his shootout save percentage finishes higher than his season save percentage? That would be hilarious. I guess the one thing that he has going for him on that front is that like you still get credited for like a shootout save even if you don’t actually make the save. Whereas in regulation if it’s a miss shot it’s just a miss shot. Yeah. Yeah. That’s the it’s just an attempt. It doesn’t matter if it hits you or not. All right. Venit Singh. Uh the team is getting killed in the front office circle faceoff circles recently. I think they started tonight’s game better. I didn’t see what the final number was but they were ahead at least through two periods. Um but the Edmonton game was an embarrassment. They they were a 43.4% faceoff team. So, not great. Second half of the game, they uh took a dive. All right. Uh from another one from Venet. Thought D’vorak was an overpriced one-year rental that we could just flip for a pick at the trade deadline, but arguably is currently our best center. Thoughts? Well, I mean, tonight he certainly was their best center. Yeah, absolutely. Uh from JH, uh proud OG Arison Pearson checking in. I’m glad he still has his fans. Yeah, there are still some people who are sticking with him. Adam S. uh tired of the fan cryb baby about Mishkov Ice Time. Yeah, I just you’re not gonna get everything. And if it’s December and we’re still doing this, maybe it’s worth talking about. But like they just won 65. It was fun. Will Wadssworth again? Uh Jules is quietly becoming Sealer 2.0. Not super flashy skill-wise, but is a work workhorse. Also backs up Andre similar to D’vorak Ziggress pairing. He’s been okay. I haven’t I thought tonight I didn’t think was one of his better ones. Uh even though I think he is a plus in the game, but because Andre was doing all the cool things. Yeah, I think he’s been better than expected. Uh for the most part. All right, Tony Esargo again. Chuck and Bill get some sleep. XOXO Tony sleep. I got to write. He’s got He’s going to be right until 4. All right, finally. JH, have a great weekend, guys. Hate is not the opposite of Love. Indifference/apathy is the opposite of love.
I'm not sure there are many people more content at this point than Trevor Zegras' management, given how often their client tends to be the (only?) adult in the room when on the ice. The Flyers might want to consider locking that next contract up sooner than later, before their remaining negotiating leverage flies south for winter.
And that SO goal, to serve as redemption for his 3rd period penalty shot? Dirty dangles.
Mm bench again
It's good to see us able to get a win when the goaltender struggles that heavily. A W with a .700 GAA is a blessing and a very good sign.
Ersson has been absolutely horrible. Borderline unplayable. The team won despite him tonight. Rather watch Kolosov.
If Michkov averaged 16 minutes ppl wouldn't be mad. Him playing similar minutes to Hathaway is malpractice.
I heard the Sun is looking for a goalie.
Dvorak is a puck control player
It's time to play Michkov after all this is the year you want him to play a lot and play through his growing pains! Next year the pressure to win and make moves towards the top of the division!!!
Zegras in SO = Coup Zegras
Love this show. As a long time Flyers fan, discovering this show this year has been great because I don’t know many other Flyers “sickos” in my life. I think Ersson has horrible positioning and focus. I don’t think it’s talent because of what he is able to do in the shootout, but he’s missing something that makes him even a competent NHL backup.
Free Grebenkin!!!
Couturier had a bad game. He was bad in his own zone, not the norm for him, but more often he is like an anchor dragging down a line in the neutral and offensive zones.
Lfg Flyers!
I'm also not able to see 47 without thinking of Amac. Every. Single. Time.
Where are all the people that shit on Owen Tippett?
Ersson scares me when a puck goes his way. I always think it’s going to go inn. Go Flyers Go ! 👍
25:20 'cause my daddy taught me good
