Why EVERYONE Suddenly Wants To Play For The Blue Jays…

Exactly one year ago today, we made a video titled Why Nobody Wants to Play for the Toronto Blue Jays. And honestly, at the time, it felt extremely accurate. Yes, the Jays had made some big signings in the past, but last off season, coming off of a 74 win campaign, it really felt like Toronto was just being used as leverage. Now though, things have shifted dramatically. Players are taking less money to stay. Teammates can’t stop praising the clubhouse culture. And suddenly, the Toronto Blue Jays are looking like a fullon destination team. So, with the winter meetings right around the corner, and with last year’s video still in mind, I figured that now would be a great time to evaluate why free agents actually want to play for Toronto. What’s up, everybody? and welcome back to Blue Jays today coming to you from the sports interaction studio. If you guys enjoy these deep dive videos or just want to stay uptodate on the Toronto Blue Jays as a whole, then I highly encourage you to hit that like and smash that subscribe button. This off season has already started with a bang and honestly, I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon. All right, folks, let’s get into it. So, first off, I think that we need to talk about the biggest change between the team as they are now and the team as they were back in 2024 when we made that initial video. That change is obviously the fact that now they’re actually good at baseball. The vibes after the 2024 season were honestly at an all-time low. And I don’t think that you can really blame anyone for that considering how bad the team actually was. 74 wins is not a lot of wins. And when I think back to that 2024 team, yes, I can remember that they were bad, but I can’t really remember anything specific about that season. Whereas for the 2025 group, I remember everything. I remember the four-game sweep over the Yankees on Canada Day. I remember the two homer game from Alejandro Kirk in the final game of the regular season to ice the division. I remember and will always remember the 18 ining marathon in game three of the World Series. Slayers, they want that. They want to be remembered. They want to be tied to one of those moments that you think about for years. Back in 2024, whenever the Toronto Blue Jays would have entered a negotiation with any free agent, they couldn’t promise them the possibility of one of those moments. whereas now after going to the World Series, they can. So that is clearly one thing, but it’s not the only thing that’s causing free agents to start to look a little more closely at Toronto. Let’s talk a bit more about those vibes. Last year, during the endofear pressers, it was pretty clear that the vibes of the team weren’t great. Just listen to this. One of your players told me recently that this place, this club was quote a show. So, uh, oh my gosh. Um, that’s what I would expect from you, Rosie. Obviously, if you were a free agent and you heard something like that, it would give you a little bit of pause about coming here. Now, though, the conversation around this team has completely shifted. I thought I was done with the tears, but I I just love these guys so much. It was so much fun coming to work every day and, you know, battling with these guys. That clip of Ernie Clement was taken directly after that game 7 World Series loss. And even though he’s not talking about the front office or the management as a whole, it is abundantly clear that he loves this team and he loves this clubhouse. I mean, the guy literally says with tears in his eyes, “I have so much fun coming to work every day.” If I’m a free agent and I hear that, I am starting to think a lot more about the possibility of coming to Toronto. Finally, let’s talk a little bit about family and how the Toronto Blue Jays have apparently done an exceptional job at treating players families. A few weeks ago, Ricky Romero tweeted this out saying, “I really do think that free agents took notice after that World Series run that the Blue Jays just had. Who wouldn’t want to play for an entire country/mosmosphere that everyone witnessed?” That comment just further hammers home the point I was making earlier about moments. Toronto had a lot of moments and players they like that. But then Kevin Polar replied and said, “And I don’t think worldclass facilities hurt. Ask any player too in terms of treatment of your wife and kids. Top-notch people/f facilities.” And this also isn’t the first that we’ve heard about the great treatment of players families. Shane Bieber’s wife posted After the World Series on Instagram and said, “I’ll never forget how Shane and I would be almost giddy after games just talking about how lucky we felt to be surrounded by such incredible humans. I’d tell him how amazing the women were, and he’d smile and say the same about the guys. We felt so welcomed from the moment we got to Canada. It’s something we’ll cherish forever. This Toronto team has built a culture that people want to be around. And considering where they were 12 months ago, it’s honestly a miraculous feat by the front office. And for all of those reasons that we just talked about and honestly a plethora more that I didn’t even have time to bring up, I can sit here and I can confidently say more free agents are on the way. But folks, let me know what you think about all this in the comments down below. Thank you so much for watching and as always, go Jay’s

Just one year ago we made a video talking about how no one wanted to play for the Toronto Blue Jays. As we approach the end of 2025, that coulnd’t be more untrue. Everyone is talking about how great of a place Toronto is for baseball, and the team has quite honestly done a full 180 degree flip from where they were last year. How did this happen though and why is it that player suddenly want to flock here? In this one we breakdown why EVERYONE Suddenly Wants To Play For The Blue Jays…

  1. Yes, first like on the post.
In all seriousness, what a big difference a year makes, what winning does to a baseball market despite being in Canada. I will eat crow, I was advocating for Shatkins to leave, but now, I want them to be extended. Again, this is what winning does. Love every second of this.
Keep up the great work guys!

  2. How Edward Roger’s allowing this front office to spend this kind money and players not play ? Santander $ 85 million dollars Rodrigues $ 35 million they own to him how about the clown Hoffman $ 33 million dollars Over $ 133 million dollars not producing this players. And how but José Berríos $ 55 million dollars is not good now this brings the total amount to $ 188 million dollars in garbage. And on top they spend $ 240 million dollars to 3 signings they did snd many more to come ! This is totally disaster for the owners.this front office will bankrupt the blue jays .

  3. Winning is everything. Toronto is a hockey town, no one cares about baseball etc, but those have been all changed, and fan are back to Roger Center because of winning or possibilities of winning.

  4. I believe it. With how these guys played, I kinda see the Blue jays pulling a dodgers and getting a lot of the good pitchers and batters. Sure it will cost LOTS, but it will maybe be worth it.

  5. Same reason why every kid wants to play for the top associations in minor league baseball hockey football because they fund more money into there team Blue Jays renoavted and it shows people forget this is there job

  6. Well ya they want to play here when you overpay for a contract until they’re
37 that cease contract will be amongst the worst in the league in 4 years

  7. With Toronto being a cultural epicenter..Toronto is more everybody is welcome and fits in. Winning helps, a money sending owner helps. And so does 50,000 fans! Go Jays .Go Bills

  8. I know why people want to play for the Jays you wanna know why because they went to the World Series and they’re playing small ball that’s the honest question that I would ask anybody. This is back in 92 and 93 where the Jays won the two World Series is in 92 and 93 with people like this now it’s 2025 people wanna play for the Jays that’s good. It’s about time well I hope the front office does their job. This could be a great team again.

  9. When you couple losing with cold weather climate and additional tax issues, you need a great clubhouse, facilities, and most importantly winning to turn things around. Jays did that in style. Now, the winning and probably the best clubhouse atmosphere in the game makes it a top tier landing spot. Not rocket science.

  10. You guys had to overpay Dylan cease by 40 million. I wouldn’t say everyone wants to go there just because sports reporters are putting out clickbait. Get Tucker without having to outbid everybody by 70 million and we will talk.

  11. It’s because we have a loyal fan base and are caring and compassionate. Was I upset we didn’t win the World Series…. Yes. But that team played their heart out trying to win for our country and I’m so proud of them. Someone has to lose but they can hold their heads up high!

  12. Think it all started when they signed Vladdy to that long term deal. Having the face of the franchise signed and happy trickles down to the rest of the team. We know how emotional & outgoing Vladdy is and his demeanor can rub off on others. 2024 was bad cause nobody knew if Vladdy was going to stay in TO or go elsewhere.

  13. I still can't get over you guys picking the Yankees to beat the Jays in the first series!!! Terrible fans!!! Then you guys are balling youre eyes out when they win lol!!!

  14. Don't forget that Canada doesn't have a gun problem like every American city where your family is living. Also, the weather in Canada is only awful during the offseason so you can go back to Compton gun crime when you miss it.

  15. Ok not everybody wants to play in Toronto, their main guy vlad was ready to walk, money talks and as long as the rogers keep writing cheques they will come. End of story!
