Tommy Edman talks Dodgers signing Edwin Díaz, his ankle recovery and LADF & Baby2Baby Holiday Party

[Music] get started one. You see all the kids are knowing some of them have had a rough year because of the fires. How important is it, Tommy, for them to just say hi to one of their heroes, but leave here with some really good memories from today? Yeah, it’s amazing. It’s it really is special to you know see the smiles on these kids’ faces as they uh you know get a hat and jersey and get to meet Santa Claus and go run around on the field. So um you know it really means a lot and um to get to take part in a day like this after the season you guys had are they still asking you know what it was like to win it all or Yeah. I mean I feel like the uh yeah that’s always going to be a question that that comes up you know winning winning back to back and and just having the chance to reflect on it. Um, and it’s cool. So many of these kids have come by and said, “Hey, my dad’s rooting for you guys.” And I was like, “Hey, what about you guys? Are you rooting for us, too?” But, um, but yeah, it is really cool to see that Christmas comes early for the kids. What’s the message to them as they get ready for the holiday season? Yeah, just enjoy the time with your family. Um, you know, this this is always one of my favorite times of the year growing up. Um, you get to kind of just hang out and, uh, not be in school for a couple weeks is the best part. So, uh, really just cherish it and give as much time with the family as you can. So, you gave us you guys gave us an early Christmas present. You’re going to be ready for spring training. We’ll see. It’s kind of um dependent on on how everything recovers and how the strength comes back. Um, but yeah, it’s uh I don’t know if I have a set timeline at this point, but you know, I shouldn’t be too much behind. It’s been a long time since the team’s gone back to back to back. What’s it going to be like going to Arizona? And you know, everybody’s going to be asking you, can you free me? Um, yeah. You know, there’s a target on our back this past season and I imagine even more so next year. But um, you know, we’re we’re at this point, we’re just kind of enjoying the back to back that we have now. And once we once the uh the calendar flips to the new year, I’m sure we’ll start to focus on that 3 ft a little bit more. What’s the merry Christmas going to be for you and your family? Well, with this um the scooter and and being in a boot and my wife being pregnant, probably be a lot of not too much. Mostly just hanging out at our house and spending time with the family. When’s the baby go? Uh January. Remember, sleep’s overrated. What’s that? Sleep is overrated with your I know. Yeah. We’ll we’ll uh we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Thanks for your time. Of course. Obviously, the Dodgers, you know, got an early Christmas present with the Santa. Um what were your initial reactions to that signing when he first came out? Yeah, we’re fired up. Um he has he’s been the answer to um or he’s been my answer to the question, who’s the toughest pitcher you’ve had to face? So, I’m really glad I don’t have to face him anymore. Um you know, he just I’m excited to see uh see his walk out at at Dodger Stadium. It’s always one of the cool uh the cool walkouts um you know, again, for an opposing team, so it’ll be pretty awesome to see it here. Does that walk out add a little fear into an opposing team’s mind when you’re facing them? Yeah, for sure. You know, just adds that little bit of extra intimidation factor. Um, and yeah, getting the crowd all fired up as they hear that song and everybody knows that um it’s his time to come in and uh and shut the hitters down is Yeah, definitely adds a little extra to um to the entrance. And then with this event specifically, what what was your favorite part of it? What’s it what’s the importance of it for you? I think just being able to um to hang out with the kids and and uh you know see their smiles as um you know as we’re handing gear out to them and um and just to see you know kind of be able to appreciate all the support that we have um both from you know from adults and kids alike and and uh to be able to see that um I have a chance to be a role model for so many kids out there and you know just makes me want to do everything the right way and and um you know kind of be someone that they can look up to.

    Dumbass, it's been the same amount of time that a team had gone just back to back… the Yankees won 3 straight in 1998, 99, and 2000… sweet Jesus these things that claim to be reporters/journalists are just getting dumber and dumber with every passing year.

    I give Tommy all the credit in the world for not giving him the, "Really?" look after that idiotic question. My facial expressions there would have spoke volumes.

  8. Met him last year and he signed a bat for my daughter who is crazy about him. What a incredible man and father. He's just down to earth. So glad he's a Dodger !!
