Mike Macdonald on the #Seahawks Week 15 WIN vs the Colts | Mike Macdonald Show | #SeattleSports

I thought he really managed the game well and made critical plays to really help us and so I I thought Sam had a really good game. Good morning, coach. Good morning. Congratulations. You called yesterday a great win by uh and what great teams do. What does that mean? Uh great win, great teams win games. Um yeah, look, it’s it’s kind of like the beginning of last week. It’s the NFL. you know, you wake up on Monday morning and you’re not sure who’s going to be the quarterback and all of a sudden you’re going against Philip Rivers and you got to go figure out a way to go win the game, you know, so and then games unfold certain ways. Sometimes it doesn’t go the way you want. Uh like the be, you know, like the first x amount of time throughout the beginning of yesterday’s game, but you got to you got to work with it. You know, it’s like it is what it is and then you got to go find solutions and solve problems and move forward and keep playing and try to figure out ways to win. and our guys did that. I like the way I like your phrase. I’ve used it a lot of the way a game declares itself. How quickly did yesterday’s game declare itself? Uh pretty early. Yeah, pretty early. You know, earlier in the like first quarter, um yeah, pretty early. I mean, if we would have started faster on offense and got out to a lead, uh it would have been a lot different, but they were very conscious of not letting that happen, taking the ball first. Um you know, the field position battle was something that we struggled with in the first half. So, um, you got to give them credit, too. I mean, Shane is a phenomenal football coach. You know, they’re seven and one and hit some adversity and, um, they got three really good phases of of of their of their football team. They play together. They’re physical. Um, and so, uh, they had a good plan and we were able to counteract it as as the game went on. Yeah, I imagine there was quite a bit of unknown in terms of what that offense was going to look like with under the circumstances with a quarterback coming out of retirement playing for the first time in five years. But with the way that they were trying to attack you guys with Rivers getting the ball out very quickly, his average air yards per target in the first half, I believe was only two yards beyond the line of scrimmage, feeding Jonathan Taylor a lot. How how closely did their offensive approach align with what you guys thought it was going to be? Uh it was probably a little bit more conservative than than we anticipated. Um you know, you could you could say, “Hey, let’s just put 11 guys on the line and make them throw the ball.” Well, you know, that sounds sweet until they hit a double move and it’s a touchdown, you know, and sometimes when you do add hats to the line of scrimmage, it doesn’t necessarily equal more people at at the point of attack. Like they’re allowed to block you, too. And and and um and put people in position to block you. So, um now the whole game was out of gun, which they hadn’t been operating like that. So, that was something we had to adjust to and um they did take some shots and when we and we were able to, you know, stay on top and force him to check the ball down, which you, you know, he checked it down pretty quickly, but you still have to defend those plays otherwise you just got to throw it to them. So when you when that happens, when the game starts to declare itself and and it is looking like it’s going to be a lowercing game and and everything, the way they’re choosing to play it, do you then have to sort of have a calculus in your mind of do I want to be more conservative and and kind of play into that or do I want to try to change that that that game and try to make it, you know, more of a an aggressive formula? How do you think through that on the sideline? Well, we’re really just trying to flip field position to start with, you know, and we weren’t able to do that. So, we were, you know, behind the eightball there and then, uh, you know, h how you’re going to play some of those, you know, second, third down, second, third, fourth down plays on our side of the field on, you know, they’re a very aggressive team on fourth down. And so, you know, like a good analogy is it’s kind of like going against Navy, you know, when they cross the 50, it’s like they got four downs, you know, so a third and seven is not a third and seven. A third and five is not a third. and so on and so forth. Second down and 10 isn’t necessarily a second down and 10. And so, um, you know, that’s they’re going to play that way. You have to defend it like that, you know, and then also, you know, that offense that that affected our fourth down decision- making, especially in the second half about uh how aggressive we wanted to be. We definitely got more aggressive there in the second half on on fourth down. It’s a good thing Greg Bell is not here because I think he would have shuddered at the reference to Navy after what happened over the weekend. But yeah, sorry about that. I was rooting for Army. I’m a obviously an army guy, but it’s a bummer. That was a great game. That was a great game. Yeah. Taking a step back, um I mean the NFL constantly gives surprises. I mean, shocking surprises sometimes. And if that wasn’t the case, I don’t think I would have believed the tweet when I saw it that Philip Rivers Yeah. was coming out of retirement to play in this game. What are your thoughts of just what he did and and the way he played on Sunday? I’m not surpris It’s Philip Rivers. I mean, I’m not surprised that he was able to come in and command the offense. And I mean that’s terms operationally like that’s the guy that I remember. Um he even said that like just as I remember you know after the game and um no I mean the mobility and all that type of stuff but he had to force him in those situations which is easier said than done. And I I you know I just I tip my hat to him. I mean um I love the message he sent he wanted to send to his kids and about being courageous and going for it and not afraid of failure. I mean those are those are awesome principles you want to pass down. You I think about that with with Jack like on how we coach our team and how we treat people and how we go about our business like um you know when he’s walking the walk behind it and he’s always talked the talk but he’s been able to walk behind it too. So um nothing but respect for him you know just really really cool man it’s just it’s a great NFL story you know I’m glad we won otherwise it’d be a little bit worse of a story but I know I feel like everyone around the country was rooting against you yesterday. Everyone, everyone wanted to see the Cinderella Disney story. And that’s kind of the way it always is, right? Like, does anybody ever root for us? Well, you team is interest. This team, at least from what I’ve heard, doesn’t play the no respect card a lot. I haven’t heard a lot of those. We get no respect. None of that. Yeah, we really don’t talk about it. I mean, it’s just what? Who cares? I love it. It’s great. Let people on the outside say it. You mentioned flipping field position. How how it’s something that I was thinking about a lot yesterday as the offense was kind of struggling to get on track and and I’m realizing after the game that your average starting position on the four punts was like the 12 1/2 yardd line. Yeah. Versus I think it was the 25 on the six possessions that led to led to field goals. Yeah. How does the how does the philosophy change or how does the play calling change inside your own 10 or 15 yard line versus once you’re starting a drive out beyond your 20? Yeah, without kind of giving away our philosophies. I mean, it does does shorten your playbook uh to a certain extent. Uh you have to make a decision at what yard line does that happen, you know. Um but to talk about the field position thing, I mean it like yeah, okay, offense we got to get out of we got to get out of the hole. We got to get drives going. We got to flip it. special teams, you know, we got to cover the kick better. Um, all those things. But like, you know, I like to bring it back to defense, too. I mean, it is a complimentary stat. You You can’t give up cheap first downs, especially the way the game is nowadays. Like, if you’re going to start the drive at the 35 yardd line, well, if you get a three and it’s that’s only the only time that you can really be aggressive on a punt return, otherwise they’re in pooch punt territory or they’re in four down territory. So, that’s kind of the NFL now, you know. So even even though we got the stop on the first drive, you know, I didn’t call a very good third first third down of the game. They hit us with the screen, you know, like to me that’s that’s that’s partly on me as our as our, you know, is our average drive start because we didn’t start the best way, too. So it’s kind of everybody involved and that’s how we talk about like being complimentary is we like we could have stacked that play, we could have gotten off the field on a three and out and um you know and all of a sudden our offense is going to have better field position and then we can start faster. Is the rule of thumb in the NFL for punt returners still to stand on the 10 and if the ball goes over your head to let it go? Uh we have our own we have our own rule but no it’s not the 10 yard line. It’s closer. So things have changed. Yeah because that’s what I always remember. Brady and I were talking about it earlier growing up. Why why would it get closer? Is it just the punters are too good? Uh I think so. I think just the the way, you know, the way that if you just like kind of average out where all those punts land over the course of time, you know, we have a reason on why we stand him where we stand him and what his rules are. So, um, you’re kind of just playing the numbers on that on that front that you’re going to end up with the right, you know, being in the best best position possible. Now, sometimes you make, you don’t make great decisions, which happened to us last year and we end up in really bad spots, but um, you know, is what it is. Does that change game to game where where that spot like are you doing it by punter or is it Sometimes sometimes it varies. Sometimes it varies. Yeah. Mike Sulk and I were talking earlier about how this seemed like a game where Sam Darnold played a lot better than maybe the the total QBR maybe the stat sheet would indicate. And uh terms of you know keeping the ball out of harm’s way dealing with pressure. The one play that stands out to me was when Franklin comes untouched on a blitz and he sort of ducks out of a sack to find Rasheed for a nine yard gain. What did you think of of Darnold’s day in totality? Yeah, I I actually thought Sam I agree with you guys. I thought Sam played a really good football game and um taking care of the football being like being able to extend plays intelligently without the ball being in harm’s way. I know he gave it up on the one he took the hit there on the sideline. Um, and then I mean just what he did at the end what he’s been doing at the end of games. I mean that’s what you got 40 seconds to go. You got to go all the way down the field. Um, handled their zero pressures well. We didn’t we didn’t uh we weren’t in the right protection on the one where um uh Zack had the guy off the edge and then he ended up um having to throw it away, but uh I thought he I thought he really managed the game well and made critical plays to really help us. And so I I thought Sam had a really good game. Tell me about the final drive. It was only 25 yards. to the new NFL. You don’t have to go 50 60 yards sometimes to get a field goal. Well, again, I mean, that’s that’s how you got to set things up. You they put the ball over there in the corner and you know, again, you know, Rasheed’s got to make a a decision in real time in a high leverage situation on do I field the punt, you know, where what direction do I go? I mean, if he catches it and he runs out of bounds, that’s not going to be good, which happens all the time now on some of those sideline kicks or the kick, excuse me, not the punt. You mean when his momentum carries? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it happened to happened to when we were on the kickoff team against Tennessee. Yeah. And that really helped us. I mean, so that that happens nowadays, you know. So, um, so that really that that kick really really, you know, jump started that whole thing. And then all of a sudden, to your point, I mean, we need what 15 20 yards to be in field goal range and basically one play away. So, um, yeah, it was great. What do What do you see from Sam in those moments, though? He gets the ball late. You need 25 yards in this case. I think we saw like we saw in the Rams game, too. just I think that’s Sam is just he’s so steady and so consistent no matter the circumstance. He’s able to bounce back and just kind of like just kind of take it one play at a time and address it like just play the situation. Okay, what’s the situation? Okay, well we we have a term for what we were in and one that we’ve you know we practiced you know since April you know and so okay that’s what it is. Here’s a play call. Let’s go rip it you know not make it more than his. Go play ball. And that’s that’s what he does. Yeah, two big completions on that drive to Rasheed Jahid. I couldn’t help but notice that on the first one, Shahed as he’s before he gets to the top of his route, he’s throwing his hands up because he wants a PI and then he makes the catch, has the presence of mind to uh get the ball, you know, spotted uh to get to to clock the ball. What do you think of Shahed’s day and just the impact that he’s having on your offense? Yeah, well, it’s really coming to life. So, I mean it’s if you know um I think there’s a chemistry that’s building between him and Sam that just I think this just you know the nature of the business like you just it just takes reps to know where he’s going to be. I mean, even like, you know, we missed him in there in the red zone and uh I think unfortunately that is a function maybe he hasn’t just been here the whole time. You know, that’s a it’s a route we run a good bit and uh the ball was a little bit behind him. So, it just seems like the timing was just a click off. But there’s a lot of other situations where um like we saw, you know, beginning of the second half last game, the Atlanta game, then throughout this game where um I think you can really feel them out there. you’re you make the decision to call three timeouts while they had the ball once they got over the 50 yard line. Can you just help us understand the the the mechanics and of how you’re going through what to do at the end of that game yesterday? Yeah, there’s a lot going on in that in that time. You know, it’s funny. One of the refs, one of the officials was talking to me like during one of the timeouts and I’m like not paying attention to him and I’m look, you know, and so I finally look at him and I’m like I’m like, you know, I’d be paying more attention to you if I wasn’t actually calling the defense right now. I was like, this is kind of like a big drive, you know. And he’s like, “Oh, you still called defense?” I’m like, “Yeah, like I’m sorry, but I’m not like I don’t really want to have a conversation with you right now.” Was he talking about football things or just like Well, I don’t know. I I I was ignoring him. Yeah. So, I don’t know what he was talking about. It could have been it could have been anything. And so I mean I I was just I was absolutely I’m like dude leave me alone. Sorry. I didn’t want to be disrespectful, you know. I had to tell him. Sure. He’s probably the same one that called the PI against Job. He was mad at you. Uh no, I actually know for a fact that was a different guy. So that’s another story behind that one. Well, tell me. So what what were you thinking about? What because there was a lot that went into that. Yeah. Well, one, I mean, Brian’s prepping us the whole, you know, the whole time about when we want to do it, and really it’s just a fun, it’s just for those who don’t know who Brian is, we talk about Brian all the time. Brian S. I mean, um, star of the game, uh, situational extraordinaire. I mean, he’s just very decisive in those moments and and then we and we stick to it. I mean, he’s he he manages the game for us and, um, you know, tells us all about the fourth down model. I mean, you name it. Uh Brian’s pretty much handling it. And uh really it’s just like the rule of thumb is if you can manage it. So if it goes sour for you and they kick the field goal, you give a chance to get the ball back. And you know, if you stop them on fourth down and you know, you know, the downside of it is if um obviously if they get the first down, they’re basically in four-minute mode and trying to kick the field goal to end it. But I mean, you can’t take the you take the timeouts with you to your grave. It’s like, “All right, congratulations.” And then if you stop them on fourth down, which is great. You know, now you have 50 seconds and they have three timeouts. They’re probably going to get the ball back with what, you know, 25 25 20 seconds to go, you know, if they’re if if we don’t get a first down. So, um, you know, that that’s kind of the downside of doing it that way. But, um, you know, at some point you got to take you got to take calculated risks, and that’s what we did. And Brian, is he also your point person in terms of knowing when to to challenge a play? Is he is he that guy? Yeah, he is a point guy on that. Yeah. Does every NFL team have sort of a guy like that who was I feel like they do. Yeah. Yeah, I feel like they do. That was one of those things where I was like, I don’t know if that was a catch. And then and then we’re like we and then another another indicator is that they’re going fast, too. And India is phenomenally like they have a really good reputation on how they handle situations and they have all the bells and whistles and everything. So they were going fast to beat the challenge. So that kind of told you that there was a possibility that it was going to be incomplete, too. So that was like that was like data point number two and then we finally got the replay upstairs and then they said go ahead and throw it. So Wyman will probably be mad if I ask you about a kicker, but I feel like I have to. I mean, six six field goals including the gamewinner and they’re not cheapies either. I mean 50 plus for the gamewinner, right? And I I was pretty impressed with the kickoff that followed because 18 seconds is not nothing at this point, right? I mean, like with three timeouts only needing to get to what the 45. If that kick goes into the end zone, they get the ball at the 35, he needs what 20 yards for a for a for a field goal. They’re actually in a probably easier situation than than we were with three timeouts. Yeah. So that that’s why we had to put the ball in play. And those are some of the that’s what makes the game different now is that the the kickoff is going to be a critical part of of these end of game, you know, like sequences. So, how important has Jason been to your season in general? Oh, he’s crit I mean critical. He’s up right up there with everybody else just um how many game is it is gamewinner in Arizona, gamewinner here? Um, I’m blanking, but I feel like there’s more where just there’s a lot of situations we’re right there in the fringe and we maybe we didn’t execute the highest level and he’s bailing us out, you know, and there’s some of these like either or scenarios where you could go for it on like a fourth and longer or whatever or you could kick the field goal and he’s he’s been able to put points up for us. I like the golf analogy he made afterwards. He said it was sort of a pull slice on that uh on that final kick. He’s apparently a tremendous golfer. You played with him? I did. Yeah, I played in the in the proam last year with him and we played at Sahal and I think I hit like one ball in play for about 18 holes and he was just absolutely mashing the golf balls. It was really incredible. Yeah, he’s he’s a stick. Sahali fairways are about the width of the uprightes. So he probably Yes, the hallways I guess he felt right at home. Um Charles Cross was the one injury I wanted to ask you about cuz I couldn’t really see what happened. He looked like he got helped off at the very end and wasn’t on the field for the last play. Oh, yeah. We’ll see. We’ll see with Charles. We’re going through it right now with him. Okay. But there was Do you know what it was? Yeah, we’re going to we’re going to see. We’re going to see. Okay. Lower body. We go hockey. Hockey hockey coaches just say upper body and lower body. That’s all they ever say. I’m going to go to like full body. Oh, full body. It’s somewhere on his somewhere. All right. Somewhere possibly somewhere on his body. That really narrows it down. Mike, I uh I learned a new word last week and this word may have been made up by Cooper Cup, but he was talking about Eric Salbert and the just the kind of guy he is in the locker room and he said he brings some great vibr to the team and obviously you guys you guys made the move to extend him, a rare inseason extension uh for this organization and I imagine a big part of that was just the the kind of presence he is in the locker room in addition to what he does on the field. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, I haven’t heard that term either, but um it’s think it paints a pretty good picture of him like in addition to um complimenting like skill set wise in the tight end room and then nowadays in special teams. I mean, you need big physical guys that can run and make tackles and block in space on special teams and really in every phase. I mean, the way the kickoff is now, like speed is kind of less of a priority um on both sides. And then uh obviously in punt being able to play guard and tackle is really helpful. And so you know that’s that’s absent that’s an added plus. And then he can play all all the full all the like the play tight end he can play the Y he can play the U. Um he can play the F. Like so the versatility is there. And then he’s just been a tremendous asset to our locker room too and the tight end room. So uh really excited to get him to get him back and and locked in for next year. I’ve always felt like tight ends are a great opportunity to, maybe this doesn’t sound right, but prove your philosophy. Like if you want to be a passing team, you probably don’t have as many tight ends, and the ones you have are probably, you know, really good at being pass receivers, closer to being wide receivers than they are to being tackles. Uh, and if you want to be a running team, you got to have some big, physical, nasty tight ends who can be tone setters. Yeah. What do you make of your whole tight end room and what they’ve done for your for your team this year? Well, I mean, I I wouldn’t say we want to be a running team or a passing team. I think we want to be I think we want to be a physical team and uh we want to be able to do both. And so, the tight end group is a group that is does both. I mean, the wide out group actually does a lot like does more both than people give the wide outs credit for, but definitely the tight ends are kind of the tip of the spear on that front. Like, um they’re kind of like knights in chess, you know? They kind of they’re kind of weird, but like they kind of fit, but they’re also an asset. like it’s they’re kind of unorthodox. Um yeah, I mean our but our group’s done a great job. You know, it’s a bummer that we lost Elijah there for a minute, but it’s great that we have Sabi back. Uh Brady Russell’s been, you know, a guy that we’ve been able to plug in and play well. Um and then, you know, AJ’s a AJ’s a tone setter for us in just terms of the attitude and things he’s been able to do. I mean, he’s our short yardage sneak guy. I mean, we got we got all sorts of stuff going on in that room. Jason Myers, when we heard from him uh in his postgame news conference afterwards, he just talked about again about how close this team is and we seem to hear that every week now it seems like and uh I’m curious. I asked you kind of a similar question to this last week in the Zoom call, but I’ll frame it in a different way. The culture that you and John and your players have built here. Is there like a moment or anything that’s happened either on the field or behind the scenes or a theme that you really feel like best represents the kind of culture that you guys have built here? Wow. Uh I probably need some more time to like kind of go through the last season. I I just think it’s just a steady I think it’s just a steady dose of like just getting everybody pushing in the same direction. And like I think I think what makes us like a little bit unique is we’re we’re trying to create an environment where guys like love coming to work, you know, and love coming in and working to try to get better and and then and they understand like how that fits like the power of that fits like within the team. So it’s like we’re trying to get better as a team. The team’s trying to get better. You got coaches that say, “Hey, we’re trying to get better, too.” So it’s kind of like we’re all driving rather than just saying like, “Hey, you know, we’re just coming to work. We’re trying to get mine. Trying to get paid. Trying to get production or just, hey, we’re just trying to win. You know, everyone kind of puts their focus on.” But ours is like, “Hey, we want to create an environment where you can be you can be you. You can have like it’s you enjoy getting a great day’s work in. You feel like you’re getting better. You feel like you’re contributing to the team. you feel like you’re growing and uh and I think I think I think that’s what the guys, you know, that resonates with guys, you know, and it like we’re on week I don’t even know what week we’re on now, but it it does feel like we’re just it’s just another week. It doesn’t feel like you’re just dragging because you’re in mid December. It just it’s just another week for us of it’s a short week, but it just feels like another week, you know. Well, I’ll tell you for the fans, it does not feel like just another week. It feels like a week leading into a huge division game with first place in the division on the line against, you know, two of the best teams here in in the NFL, certainly in the NFC. Do you kind of recognize that importance or is this, hey, this is just the next game up on the schedule and we approach it just like any other week. Um, we’re not going to change our process. We’re just we have it. We’re going to we’re going to tweak it because it’s on Thursday. It’s a method. Um, obviously there’s like bigger implications about the, you know, where the season goes after this, but to me, you spend a bunch of time thinking about all that type of stuff, it it doesn’t become, it doesn’t, your process gets affected. And for us to play our best version of ball, we have to we have to take it like method like step by step. You know, you start skipping steps or you start thinking about other things during the steps and like brought you all these like meaning questions. is like there’s no such thing as meaning. It’s just what means is just or there’s what what are the broader implications? I don’t know. You know, we haven’t played the game yet. You know, can we go for we’re focused on playing the game? You know, that’s that’s that’s our responsibility as coaches and players. And um this feels like that’s that’s what make that’s what works for us. You know, some some teams like to play the respect card and the nobody believes in us and the whole thing. It’s like all right, well, all those people are, you know, you start winning now. What do they say? All right, now they’re going to believe in you. Like, and then then you’re going to say, “Dah, those are the guys that doubt it.” You know, it’s like everyone says the same thing. It’s like it’s kind of old, you know? Just focus on us. That being said, excited to get a second shot at a team that beat you once. Yeah. Yeah, of course. Of course. Cool. Riley Mills, quickly before we we got to get going, Riley Mills, what did you think of his NFL debut? Um, it’s great to get him back out there, you know. Um, a lot he’s going to learn from the game. You know, that was a good offensive line. Uh, I thought he played hard, tried to play physical, and uh, he’s only going to get better, you know. He’s only going to get better, but he had a good week of practice, got a couple good reps in there, and then, um, some reps he’s going to learn from, and and, uh, we’ll grow from it. But, it was great to get him out there finally. You know, the guys have played a real football game and, you know, over a year, you know, after coming off an injury. I mean, that’s and to get thrown to the fire was um, you know, talk about being courageous like that. That was that was cool. Well, we’re excited. Thursday night prime time game uh against the in inside the division. It’s about as cool as it gets from a fan and media perspective. So, we’ll look forward to watching. We’ll see you on Friday morning uh right afterwards. So, twice in one week. I know that always makes your week as well. So, uh we’ll see you then. Thanks. All right. Good surprise at Brady. Good to see you. Good to see you. Appreciate you. There you go. We’re going to get out of here.

  1. And yet darnold left you high and dry ,,,, YOU BETTER GET YOUR QB COACH ON THE BALL AND MAKE DARNOLD GO DEEP ONCE IN A WHILE TO OPEN UP THE RUNNING GAME,,, RIVERS WAS THE HIGH LIGHT OF THE GAME,,,WHERE WAS DARNOLD ????

  2. Sam didn't have a really good game. The Colt pass defense is soft, yet the Seahawks didn't score one TD. The Colts almost won that game on the road with a 44 year old QB. I don't know if I'm that jazzed about Kubiak anymore either: on one play the Seahawks ran a "student body left" that resulted in a TFL because a TE was assigned to block a DE and he wasn't up to the task; the Colts only had three down lineman on that play…there's absolutely no reason five offensive linemen plus a tight end should get embarrassed by three defensive linemen and a DB playing close to the line. Why do you have your tight end blocking a defensive end when you have five offensive linemen vs. three defensive linemen?

  3. Good questions about fair catching inside the 10,
Some of those punts are more line drives that would no doubt go in the endzone or bounce back outside the 10.
The angle must be Rashid's call, not just a simple rule about the yard line.
He had one fair catch yesterday that would have gone in the endzone.
I was relieved that he let that last one go.

  4. I think this interview didn’t cover anything I was looking for on the ineptitude on offense for the last three games against subpar defenses

  5. While the nation might be surprised & Seattle shocked….Seahawks will drop 3 games to end the season; Best part of that is Seahawks will get a 3rd place schedule next year while still being a Wild Card team next month….

  6. I apologize for being extra negative yesterday. After talking over lunch, I realized I basically had to watch 7 quarters before finally seeing that we won😵‍💫 I watched on my own, my husband finally joined me after I made it halfway into the 4th quarter, and I had to watch it all over again. That game really pissed me off😂 Sorry everyone! A win is a win, and it would have been 1000xs more exciting if I could have finished the game first😭😭😭

  7. People act like this should have been an easy win. The Colts are still a very good team. Rivers was/is a very competent QB. He is only 2 years older than Rodgers.

  8. I’m the same age as MacDonald and let me tell you – his approach of taking steps for the next game and not altering the approach, not buying the hype is super super mature and responsible at his stage. Of course he understands the implications but as a coach it’s his responsibility to stick to the method and I’m impressed with the consistency with which he sticks to it

  9. Going to be a tough game against the Rams with how the offense is playing. Offense has looked so dysfunctional in the first halves of the past three games. Oline, play calling, and running has been putrid. Rams will own us on Thursday if this team shows up. Fix it!!

  10. Absolutely brilliant how he used the timeouts to save the game for the Seahawks. I don't think everyone realizes how good the colts really are. Go Hawks. I'll be at Thursday's game!!!!!

  11. Hearing Mike McDonald talk about how important Jason Meyers has been to the success we've had this year proves good kickers should get paid like good receivers!!! So many games every week are won and lost because of the skill of the kicker!

  12. Macdonald cracks me up man. He's such a football nerd. Glad he's our coach. In this division you have to have a guy like him to stand a chance.
