This Player Could Change EVERYTHING For The Washington Commanders
Yo, what is up guys? This is Pedro here and in today’s video I want to talk about a player that the Washington Commanders are going to have available to them on Saturday. Drake Jackson, former second round pick from the San Francisco 49ers could be a little bit of a secret weapon for the Commanders and a part of their long-term future. If you guys are new, make sure to subscribe, hit that like button and that notification bell as well so you never miss a video. All those things, including hyping up the video, do help out a ton. It’s free. doesn’t take too long and give me any feedback you guys have in the comment section down below. So, let’s get into it. So, Drake Jackson, they signed him a while ago. He is going to play Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles at uh I was about to say FedEx Field, but Northwest Stadium, you know, for the Commanders. So, you know, let’s let’s talk about it. So, um, he is a defensive end, former second round pick from the San Francisco 49ers, played at USC. Let’s go into some of his stats real quick. And, uh, just a bunch of injuries for him really. Uh, late second round pick in 2022, so it’s been a little bit. Has six career sacks, had six sacks in 16 games. uh his rookie year played 15 uh games, had one interception, uh three sacks, and you see all the information here. The next year, his first game of the season, he actually had three sacks, and after that, didn’t really uh do much and got hurt. So, after that, didn’t play 2024, 2025, you know, the 49ers released him, the Commanders picked him up, and then had a little bit of a groin injury and then is coming back from that. So, um, a bunch of different things going on there with Drake Jackson. But here’s the thing with him, right? Lowrisk, potential, highreward signing. So, I think these are the type of signings they need to make. Kind of like Tayen Burks. Who knows if Trayen Burks is going to work out. Same thing with Dre Jackson. But, it’s a good signing to make with guys that, you know, were highly touted and, you know, maybe the first team wasn’t the best team for them. Let’s see if they can turn it around. Drake or not Drake Jackson Burks has shown some flashes. He needs to show a little bit more, but I think he’s shown at least enough to bring him back to have a chance to make the roster next year and maybe, you know, do a little bit more. So, yeah, we’ll we’ll see if that is going to happen with Trayon Burks. And then Drake Jackson, you know, is going to be playing here for the Commanders on Saturday. And I want him to get a, you know, huge workload for, you know, the Commanders on defense. Let’s see what he could do. Maybe you don’t want to have him playing, you know, 50 snaps first game back. That’s irresponsible and he probably, you know, the team’s not going to want to do that. And even, you know, if he was able to, they probably still rather have some other guys get snaps over him. 6’4, 273 lbs, is still young, 24 years old. Like I said, these are the types of signings the commanders need to make. Uh, and uh, yeah, I think this is a good uh, addition to the squad. We will see what he is able to do. We’ll go over some more, you know, information about him. Played at USC for 3 years and, you know, is again still somewhat young here. So, uh, let’s look at his draft profile real quick and then we’ll get into some other information about, you know, the Commander game on, uh, Saturday, which, uh, you know, that’s good. It’s on Saturday. A little bit of a head start on the holiday week. Happy holidays to all of you guys who celebrate. Hopefully, you guys are having a great time. You see some of the information, 36.5 in vertical leap and the athleticism score was really good. Third out of any of the guys at the combine and uh you know you see let’s go of his go over his overview. Uh he lacks and let’s see I want to X out of that. He lacks play strength but has the frame to add muscle and mass. He’s loose limb restless pass rusher with the uh activity level to find angles and openings in both his primary and secondary rush. However, he lacks successful counters to do it consistently against stronger tackles. He also lacks to take on toughness and functional anchor needed to hold up at the point on rundowns. He has developmental rush potential, but needs a major upgrade in grit and technique against the run. Who knows if he’s able to really do that uh or who knows if he’s been able to really improve on that and I guess do that too uh right now with the commanders. But biggest thing is this week, let’s see if he can, you know, make some flashes. This is going to be his first game back in I mean 2 years. So uh you know not expecting much but it would be good to see anything any flashes. You know big play would be great. You know the commanders likely aren’t going to win this game but uh just seeing what he can do on the defensive side of the ball would be really good. And if we can see anything out of him this year that is like all right maybe this guy can be a part of the future. Maybe not a stud a pro bowl or an all pro. That’s a little bit far-fetched. Very farfetch farfetched. I’m not saying it’s, you know, out of the realm of the, you know, of possibilities because really anything’s possible. But if he ends up being a starter or even a good rotational edge rusher, that’s a great signing and that’s really good because you got him for basically free. Those are the types of signings Adam Peters needs to make and those are the, you know, types of development stories, developmental stories the commanders need to have. Kind of like the Rams with Emanuel Forbes. You know, he hasn’t been good all year. you know, beginning was a little rough, then had a really good stretch and the last couple maybe the last game was okay, but I know he had a couple games after that elite stretch where it wasn’t too good, but still he’s you kind of bounced back and, you know, made a little bit something out of his career. So, let’s see what, you know, we can do if we can have some of those type of developmental comeback stories with a guy, you know, yeah, with a guy like Trayen Burks, Drake Jackson, and any other signings the Commanders need, you know, decide to make. So, I’m happy with this signing and it’s really just a wait and see type of situation with Drake Jackson. What is he going to bring to the table for the Washington Commanders? Uh, they have this on some of the draft picks right here. They said sort of tells he should have kept his weight up instead of trying to lose it. He’s a good athlete regardless of weight and he’s not as big or strong right now. That’s what they said. So, who knows if he’s put on some weight. What do they have them listed at here? 254 lbs. I believe the site has or you know whatever the commanders or whatever site has them listed at 273. So dude’s gained the weight back. He’s up to 20 or up 20 lbs from that. So 274. So that’s not an issue at all, you know, for the edge rusher position and you know recovering from the injury, came back and had a little bit of a groin injury. But and a huge shout out to Sleeper for sponsoring today’s video. Make sure you guys check them out. There’s a big Thursday night football game going on tomorrow. And I know in that clip I said the game’s tomorrow, but the game is today. Seahawks versus the LA Rams. Should be a good game there. So, let’s just go over some other information real quick for the commanders. So, Coulson Yanov, Eddie Goldman, and Jaden Daniels, and Larry Tonsil are all out. So, you know, not awful news. I think it’s cool that um not cool that Larry Tons out, but I was going to say cool that we’re going to have another chance to look at Brandon Kman. I think Brandon Kman is a really solid tackle and has you know a chance if he is given the chance which he is going to this week to be a really good tackler a solid tackle in this league and you know he’s shown at times this year that he’s been good at tackle and Larry has had to go out even for you know only probably a total of a half but he’s also come in certain packages was honestly open on that touchdown uh play that was designed for him a couple weeks ago against the Vikings But I want to see what he can do. So that is not I’m saying it’s good news, but we know Larry Munel is a stud. So him missing a game, especially at this point in the season where you know the season’s over. Like let’s see what we have in some of the young guys. And that might just be their way of you know shutting him down. I’m sure if this week was like a playoff game or if it was a win like like a game we needed to win, he would be playing Larry Tone. So I’m not completely sure, but that’s just my guess cuz he was kind of in and out last week. Uh Coulson Yankov gives more of a chance for Ben Sinnate to play. Let’s see what he can do. Had a big 36 yard catch last week. Let’s see again. Let’s see what he can do this week. Eddie Goldman out. More opportunity for Johnny Newton. And uh Bill Crosky Merritt voted Pepsi Rookie of the Week. Not really. I mean, I’m not going to say he didn’t deserve it, but kind of going to say he didn’t deserve it just cuz Trayvon Henderson had 160 yards and two touchdowns. Um but uh you know, Bill Kroski had a good game, best game in a while. The fumble is really disappointing just bec even though they didn’t lose it, it’s just disappointing because the dude starts playing well and then that happens and that just cannot happen. So rest of the way honestly give the carries to him. Let’s see what he can do. I like Chris Rodriguez too but give the carries to Bill. See what you have in him. Uh but if he puts the ball on the ground again I mean that’s honestly in my opinion that’s it for him. You can’t, you know, as good as of a running back as someone is, you know, as explosive, big playability, which I’m not saying Bill has, but let’s say he did, you can’t fumble the ball. Like, if you’re the best of the best, you’re an elite elite elite running back. Everything’s maxed out, but you fumble, that’s still a problem. And Bill’s nowhere near the all those maxed out stats, and he still fumbles. So, when that happens, you’re going to get moved on from. So, he needs to lock in with that. It’s not a really a hard issue to fix. I’m not saying that, you know, I don’t play, but or yeah, I’m saying I don’t play, but I’m not saying it’s like, you know, something that all these guys can easily fix, but, you know, it’s just the way you hold the ball and, you know, some strength stuff, some grip strength, and, you know, making sure you hold the ball, you know, in the right spot. It’s very fixable and you know it’s not something like speed or other things where you know some people are just you know born a little bit faster than others. You know this is a very fixable thing but uh you don’t get a lot of time to fix it. So you know if he’s in training camp next year and he’s fumbling it’s the coaches aren’t going to trust him and uh that’s just something he’s going to have to uh work on there. And then also I would say the big playability like it’s close to being there but that’s the problem close. He misses it so much and he leaves so much on the table. It’s like right there and he always just gets a little bit too short and misses the big play opportunity. So those are the two things he needs to fix and work on and hopefully he’s able to do that in the next few weeks and next season. you know, he definitely has a lot of talent and I’m excited to see what he can do the rest of the way. And the Eagles this week, you know, they don’t have Jaylen Carter, so that’ll help a little bit with Bill, even though Jaylen’s had a little bit of a down year. And then you also have Lane Johnson being out as well. But that is it for today’s video. Hope you guys did enjoy. If you did, hit that like button, subscribe if you guys new. Peace.
