CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson mocked Ty Simpson to the Cardinals as the third quarterback taken in the first round, behind Mendoza and Moore, whom he projected to the Raiders and Jets at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively.

Simpson has been impressive this season, passing for 3,500 yards (6th in nation), 28 touchdowns (T-8th) and five interceptions with a 76.6 quarterback rating (19th). Simpson has been one of the main stars for an Alabama team that will play Indiana in the Rose Bowl in the quarterfinals of the 2025-26 College Football Playoff on Jan. 1.

  1. I honestly hope not. I feel it’s a reach to grab him there. If we don’t have a shot at Mendoza, I’m game for trading back and getting Fano.

  8. I know Kyler gets a lot of hate in this sub but taking the 3rd best QB in a weakish QB class when Downs will more than likely be there when we pick is a bad idea imo. Buddha is slowing down. We need secondary help more than a QB right now.

  9. Simpson feels like the Josh Rosen of this draft, the QB some one’s going to reach for out of desperation, but has a very low likelihood of succeeding at this level. Of course everyone’s a crapshoot in the draft, and in such a weak QB draft arguably drafting any QB in the first round is a reach, but the gap in both talent and likiliehood to succeed at this level between a Bane or Fano and Ty appears to be pretty significant so while I’m forced, as a fan, to support whatever direction they go, and will obviously hope I’m eating crow a year from now, I’ll be pretty disappointed on draft night if we go QB while top talent for the trenches is still available.

    The only scenario where I’d be happy with Ty is if we trade back for 2 picks, use the better of the two to get Fano, and the worse to get Simpson but I’m skeptical Fano is going to stay available for as long as some people seem to think. He’s not a sure thing elite talent by any stretch, but OT, ED, and QB are pretty consistently the positions that teams prioritize early in the draft.

  10. Just give me the best O line ever. We can’t draft anything else. All OL for all the picks. We can’t land anything else this past decade lol. Nice and boring. The pizazz picks get you fans for 3 months anyways and never pan out.

  11. Simpson is being so undervalued here. Dude hasn’t had a running game at all to lean on(unlike Moore & Mendoza) & still played good ball for the most season. I don’t think you guys understand how hard it is to run a functioning offense without one. I honestly think Moore actually needs to show more. He struggled against the two best defenses he faced. If he does the same to Texas Tech, I don’t know how people can be that high on him.

  13. I wouldn’t be surprised if both Moore and Simpson go back to school. They may get less in NIL but will be chasing a championship rather than taking a beating playing for NYJ or CLE.

  20. Absolutely zero reason to take a QB in the first round with this team. None. No way Bidwell should allow it. Both the coach and GM are close to being shown the door. The new GM and new coach will want input on a new QB not be tied down to the old regimes QB. We are not a good QB away from success. We have a ton of needs elsewhere and a serviceable QB on the reporter that cripples us to cut and yet also has zero trade value.

    Taking a QB first in this draft is just asking for another Rosen. It not only doesn’t improve is, it makes it harder to improve going forward because it makes it harder to attract a top coach or GM. Absolutely brain dead suggestion.

  22. No, don’t reach for it. He’s a QB from Alabama and no QB from there has been dominating in the NFL. Don’t be like, what about Jalen Hurts. I’d say that’s more of Philly’s system than him. Also Tua isn’t dominating.

    Plus he’s an over reach for a top 5 pick

  23. I say don’t draft a qb and get an elite o lineman or defensive player and just get a vet qb or roll with Jacoby one more year.
