Really seems like it's down to the Padres or Pirates at this point.

  1. But the padres are showing a lot of interest…. unfortunately seems like he will go the padres and play 1st instead of coming to the pirates and playing 3rd every day.. Rip

  2. I’ve been more worried about the Padres than the Angels

You’ve got an already Japanese connection there with other players and San Diego is nicer to live than Pittsburgh

The latter part of that probably isn’t a dealbreaker, but I do worry that the Pirates having little to no Japanese connection will be a huge factor in the decision

  3. Trying to get a Japanese guy to commit to a city with maybe 1 authentic Japanese restaurant vs a city/state with the most vibrant Japanese footprint outside of japan is going to be tough

  4. The state income tax in California is 13% vs. 3% in Pennsylvania, not to mention an extremely high cost of living in both San Diego and Los Angeles and while both California cities have numerous Japanese restaurants we have Andy at Wholey’s.

I don’t see how straightening out the Rendon mess makes the Angels less interested. It seems like they should have a larger current bankroll now.

  5. Not related but thinking of the Angels, I honestly feel bad for Mike Trout. I’d rather Skenes move on from us and be the legend his potential is than do a Trout to him.

  6. Hes a Padre. Come on guys, its a Japanese player. If the Dodgers had an opening he’d be going there. There’s a chance but we all know how this usually plays out.
