Detroit Lions’ Window Still WIDE OPEN—Why Fans Should BELIEVE in Super Bowl Potential in 2026

Detroit Lions face questions about their Super Bowl window after a disappointing 8-8 season, but is the future truly in jeopardy? Matt Dery challenges the narrative, spotlighting franchise cornerstones like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Penei Sewell—all in their prime and locked in for next year. With Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes steering a talented, youthful core, the Lions remain contenders, despite missing the playoffs.

Key topics include the strategic decision to play starters against the Bears, surprising roster changes—like Kingsley Eguakun’s midseason exit to the Browns—and analysis of ESPN’s all-rookie team, where only Tate Ratledge earns recognition. The discussion covers the roster’s strengths and holes, failed offseason moves, and why a single down year shouldn’t trigger panic. Can Detroit’s resilient young roster rebound and prove the doubters wrong next season?

  1. Their window is still open IMO; however, I just think Brad/Dan dropped the ball (this season), in thinking moving guys to different positions and bringing in journeyman would alleviate the lost personnel from the off-season! I hope this season humble them both, so they make the "right" decisions, next season!

  2. What Ben Johnson did with Chicago this year shows most of us that it was BEN JOHNSON and NOT Dan Campbell who was responsible for the Lions record last year!!!!!!!!!

  3. Brad Holmes scouts Goff as the first overall pick and doubled down and then tripled down making him one of the highest paid QB in the league, now all you need is a offensive tackle, gaurd, center and defensive edge rusher, a corner, hopefully the safeties come back healthy, wow that's a lot, seeing how 3/5th of the o line was there when Holmes and Campbell got there, you detoilet liedowns fans and analyst are freaking pathetic moronic losers

  4. Hopefully this is a way Brad and Dan to truly understand what it takes to win it all. Now open the pocket book on free agents. Draft needs. Not wants. Stop drafting hurt players. Ease up on going for it on 4th down so much. Kick the field goal! Hire the right staff. Make adjustments during the game. Stop saying we need and will clean it up. When it never gets cleaned up. Clean it up already!

  5. Detroit has a wide open window! You cannot win with that many crucial injuries. We are still a young team. Spend some money Brad!

  6. Why should
    THEY NOT !
Because you talked this shit last year.
Than this year you're shitty team didn't even make the playoffs.
    And.
You're sorry ass team is going to end up the worst team in the NFC North.
    LMFAO 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
    Another year of
    FAILURE !
    YOU SUCK.

  7. Lions fans can be so fickle lmao one disappointing season doesn’t close a window. If anything, it’s a miracle we went 15-2 last year despite all the injuries. This team is still really good. Retool and reload for next year.

  8. The Lions are having a horrible season and are still 8-8. It's crazy that people are saying the window is closing and we need to replace Holmes and or Campbell. 😂

  9. The Lions are going through what the Eagles went through when they lost their coordinators a few years ago. We have some holes to fill with some free agents and a good draft. The core of the team is still in place. Too much doom and gloom.

  10. Here's something we can probably all agree on, perhaps this overblown reaction that many of us (not all) are having is because of the apathetic approach to free agency courtesy of our resident baseball team? And hockey team? Because if you ask me, this mentality is still very fresh in the hearts and minds of detroiters, lingering from our dive-of-25 Tigers…
