  1. What should encourage Stros' fans is not that Imai will be good or bad, but that Crane is being true to his word. This move trumpets his intention to contend. Now everyone needs to stop with the Crane is cheap and does not want to win and the 'Stros need to rebuild. Go 'Stros.

  2. I still see Dana floating another guy for a salary dump. Of course, Walker the most obvious, especially with the Mets in need of a 1st baseman. Do not be surprised to see Hader's name come up in trade talks. His remaining three years and the price tag that high-end bullpen arms have been commanding makes Hader more likely to be dealt now than a year ago. Remember, 'Stros only blew one 9th-inning lead (against Toronto) after Hader went down. His 19 million a year could be spent on a big bat or another high-end starter or even several mid-level players. Something to consider.

  3. I do like Brett's suggestion that JV does owe the 'Stros tens of millions of dollars. I would take JV on less than 10 million a year or even a multiple-year deal (2) in order to get the AVV down and incentivize the deal. He performs, the team benefits. If he does not, the harm is mitigated.

  4. I would suggest everyone tempering your exclamations about his performance in Japan. Numbers do not matter until done in the Majors. Japan and Korea has good players. The Majors are the best in the world. The difference is meaningful.

  5. he just wanted to get in the bigs, he will opt out after the 1st season, our astros ownership don’t like to pay, he will opt out and sign a bigger deal somewhere else

  6. The Astros got it right this time. If Weiss doesn’t work out. Blubaugh will if Javier doesn’t work out, Alexander will, if macullers doesn’t work out, burrows will. If imai doesn’t work out arrighetti will. If all fails, wisneski and blanco return in the second half . If that fails there’s Miguel ulloja. Yea, it’s over for the rest of the league.

  7. He has the Alex Bregman contract though 3 yr with opt outs every yr,so if he does good he will probably elect free agency like Bregman after the yr,but better than no yrs.
