  1. **Winter Classics are awesome.** I don’t feel the need to get into all the back-and-forth about the quality of the ice, about it being held in a place that doesn’t snow, about the crappy TNT broadcast, about all the paraphernalia with the music performances, etc… it all feels moot to me. I don’t mind if it’s less than ideal OR even outright bad. This happens *once a year every season*. We got to be a part of one improbably when *nobody* would have dreamt of it 5 years ago. I’m happy our squad during our greatest run ever got to experience it and the fans who were able to go and afford tickets got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

As for the game itself, *damn that left a lot to be desired.* I didn’t think we played well, but we also didn’t play terribly enough to be down essentially the whole game trailing from the start. It felt like a 2024 ECF game where we had 2x their shots and Shesterkin wasn’t letting in any softies except Bob had no chance on the ones we conceded.

    * Seth Jones man… I feel so bad for him. After the USA announcement to have that sort of crappy luck of getting hit where he did is ***awful***. Not to mention how much of a killer it is for us and our already depleted roster (*215 man games lost, most in the NHL according to a stat tonight*) That hurts, a lot.
    * Mika Zibanejed with 5pts tonight obliterated what he did in the entire 2024 ECF in 6 games (*2pts, 0 goals, 2 assists*)
    * Our powerplays tonight were goddamn brutal.
    * Thank you Sam Reinhart for preventing the shutout. Gave the fans something to cheer for.

Thankfully we’ll be able to put all this behind us and move on with things getting easie- *aw shit we’ve got Colorado on Sunday and then a long ass road trip*.

  2. Welp, that sucks. Still love the Cats no matter what though, which is a good thing because I’m not looking forward to Avs. Also, I hope Jones is ok.

    Happy new year everyone.

  3. Even without the loss, that whole event was an awkward lame ass show. Production sounded like diarrhea, walked out to despacito, and had a backstreet boy country guy show? That was straight up lame. Had so much potential to be good. It was not.

  4. This team plays down or up to their opponent.

Special teams really struggle without Barkov and Tkachuk.

Seems they have opportunities on the PP regularly that could change the dynamic of the game that they squander.

If Jones is out long term things could get dicey with how close the standings are.

  5. Trash. Fuck all the way off. Wasted my money. Garbage effort in big important game. Miss you Jonesy

  6. Think the season might be over. Jones goes down and we lose a guy that logs 25 plus minutes a night. With it looking like a collarbone, he’s probably out for a while, which we cannot overcome with the current slate of injuries.

But this is a very bad time to go cold. The Red Wings, Lightning, Habs and Sabres are all in heaters and will probably pull away from the rest of the Atlantic now and the Metro has several teams that are playing really well.

Might be a season where we lick our wounds and regroup for next year.

  7. At least I have this cool jersey now. I’m gonna sage it and do some brujería just in case there’s a marlins curse though.

    Night guys. ilysm.

  8. Still cool as shit. Those who went i hope you enjoyed yourself.

    Have a goodnight folks.

  9. such a sad showing, even worse that jones went out. who knows if something changes with him in, our PK was pretty sad without him. 😓 I just hope he’ll be alright.

  10. Embarrassing performance. And we got Colorado next. It’s going to get ugly with Buffalo on a tare.

  11. Welp, that wasn’t great. Really hope they were being extremely cautious with Jones. Cannot afford to lose him or an extended period of time. Hope they bounce back and come out hungry against the Avs Sunday…
