  1. Crazy how there hasn’t been any talk about our most consistent player Lindor, who is kind of the team leader, throughout most of the offseason

  2. I love McLean but come on, can we see a bit more before we proclaim him a savior? We’re going to have another scrap heap pitching staff.

  3. Considering our lineup is on pace for a .224 BA and we haven’t upgraded our pitching yet no, I’m not quite convinced yet

  4. There’s a VERY wide range of possibilities for this current mets roster😂. More so than most teams. If all goes well they are competing for a World Series and if all goes wrong they will lose 90 games

  5. The Mets didn’t make the playoffs last year and have gotten objectively worse. I’m not sure how much we can expect them to even get better on paper, I’m sure marginal moves will be made that make everyone go “uh… okay I guess that’s preferable”, but I doubt there will be anything that makes us really feel good about next year.

That said, last year they underperformed. That should’ve been a 90+ win team on paper. So like, even having downgraded, does positive regression swing them back towards the playoffs? Playoff contention most likely, and whether they succeed will be on whether Stearns makes the right marginal moves or not. So.. let’s see how the little genius does. I’ll say this much, if we miss out because we didn’t have someone capable of consistently closing games, it won’t matter what else he did.

  6. Stearns has a platform to build a playoff team. A couple of MVP-caliber players, a handful of young players with upside, money, and a deep farm. He’s going to have to do more between now and March to make this a 95+ win team but… that’s his job and we as fans aren’t going to accept less than a playoff appearance in ’26.
