  1. Which probably means Bichette isn’t signing.

It was one of Bo/Okamato/Bregman right? And Tucker. We better sign Tucker

  2. Let’s go!

I’m curious where we go from here tho? Platoon Barger and Okomoto at 3B? Are we out on Tucker? Are we out on Bo? I feel like this means the FO is leaning more towards Tucker than Bo, maybe I’m wrong, but where does Barger play if we get Tucker too? Curious where we go from here now

I also wonder if a Tony/Lukes trade is coming and move Okomoto to LF? we have Ernie for 2B right now but I feel like his playoff run shadowed his horrendous stats against RHP all year.. I feel like Bo at 2B makes sense still given Ernie against RHP is not great at all.. I’m interested to see where they go, I think one of Bo and Tucker make sense..

Edit: I think platoon Barger at third with Okomoto makes a lot of sense, put Barger in spots to succeed against some RHP, that’s a very good platoon to have

  3. Unfortunately this is a bad sign for Bo coming home…but maybe a positive sign for Tucker? Exciting news regardless

  4. “And while the Jays remain “in the mix” for the top MLB position players on the market, including being “the favourite to land (Kyle) Tucker,” [according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand](https://www.mlb.com/news/unsigned-free-agents-who-will-impact-2026), signing Okamoto is unlikely to limit them from landing a big fish.” – from [https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/report-blue-jays-interested-in-japanese-slugger-kazuma-okamoto/](https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/report-blue-jays-interested-in-japanese-slugger-kazuma-okamoto/)

  5. I hope the Bichette situation doesn’t turn into a repeat of the Encarnation situation.

  6. How good is he? Obviously he’s elite in Japan, but by MLB standards how good do you guys think he can be?

  7. I’m very happy we got a cool Japanese player but this does make everything so fucking weird now

  8. Everyone saying it means no bo but yes Tucker I think it’s the opposite.

Assuming this moves Barger to outfield then that’s the hole that was filled not the 2b one

  9. This update put a quick end to my doom scrolling. I wasn’t sure the team would land this guy and now they have so Yay. Can we sign Bo and Tucker now, please. I need some more good news.

  10. Interesting. From what I read I really like this signing. Good bat to ball skills, good enough defensively. Now let’s see how the rest plays out.

Is Ross cooking up a trade for us? Is Tucker or Bichette still an option? Does this mean we are out on both? I feel like something else is coming.

  11. I think the only way they bring Bo back now is if they decide they’re trading clement/barger, infield is way too crowded

  12. Love the signing! Okamaoto’s WRC+ was 210 last year…210! That’s incredible. And even though it was only half a season, he’s been a fair bit better hitter than the other Japanese imports over the last several years. He rarely strikes out and hits for power, love the fit in our lineup.

  13. Okamoto is exactly the type of player for the Jays. Contact driven, has defensive flexibility, is going to do a lot of things to win you baseball games. Really like adding him to the team.

What this means for Bo/Tucker I’m not sure but Okamoto makes the Jays a better team

  14. I saw a Yomiuri Giants game a few years back when I was in Tokyo. I did not think for a second anyone on the field at the time would be a Blue Jay. This is awesome

  15. I think the Jays shock the baseball world and sign both Bichette and Tucker still.

  16. I believe this signals we are out on breggy, more than it does we are out on Bo. Bo at 2nd, Ernie super utilty/ platoon against lhp

    Sign Bo

  17. Great signing by the Jays and a great way to increase the Jays’ visibility in the Japanese market. I read an article a day or so ago saying the Jays would most likely try him out in the corner OF spots.
