“We feel we made a competitive offer to Naylor, Schwarber, Murakami, Okamoto. . .”

You’re gonna get Willi Castro, and like it.

I’m still waiting to see what we offered but yea it does feel that way. I just love feeling like a fool believing things will be different.
With Schwarber, I can buy the idea that the Pirates didn’t have a chance because they only offered 4 years when others were offering 5 years. But Okamoto feels like a firm “I don’t want to play for the Pirates” rejection. I don’t think this is fair for Okamoto, the team seemingly made a major push to get him.
I didn’t fall for shit. Gotta be pretty stupid to think this owner is actually going to do some good.
Geez this fanbase is intolerable
Hey they made some great moves. With that being said they need to address 3rd. If they go into the season with Triolo then thats a partial failure.
He signed with a literal World Series team, and according to rumors, the pirates offered basically the same terms… this isn’t really a difficult decision for him.
Can we stop talking about Naylor? Dude was never leaving Seattle unless the offer was a massive overpay and no one was willing to do that. Really good player but he’s going to drop off fast when he does. No one else had a prayer of getting him.
It feels like they were actually in the mix for Okamoto and made a good faith effort. They can’t force him to play here and there was always competition. Frankly, I’d rather live in Toronto and play for the Jays too, at least at this time. Can’t say I blame the guy.
No reason to be a cynical crybaby because we didn’t get him. I’ll see what they do going forward before I allow myself to fall back into baseball depression.
Ok so since the Okamoto signing not happen where does the other $ go? There’s some decent FA’s out there
This team only has so much money. You can’t expect them to overpay for every free agent available. Relax. It’s already been a much better off season than we are used to
I can’t wait for our Luis Urias participation trophy
Jesus guys. I’m as much of a negative Nancy as anybody in here. I cancelled the season ticket package I’ve had the last 5 years this past July at the deadline out of pure disgust.
And even *I* can see this team is light years better right now than it was on October 1. Is the team GOOD? Probably not good enough for the postseason, but it is way LESS BAD than it was in 2025. If they don’t make any more moves (we at least need a 3B who can hit), then with what they already added we should at least be WATCHABLE.
Take the lower case w and hope we make one more move. I’m not gonna start bitching until it’s opening day 2026 and our roster is still exactly where it is right now.
There’s 29 other teams you can follow. If this team hasn’t signed a free agent and made a big trade you could complain.
I hate this fanbase
The moment I know Okamoto’s agent is Boras I know we are screwed. There’s no way we can get him unless we hand out a contract at least $80 mil
