3 players the Vegas Golden Knights must seriously target before the trade deadline

With what? lol
Kelly will make *a* move, that much is certain, but the limited ammo available points in the direction of another Reilly Smith move instead of big game hunting a la Hanifin/Hertl.
I think it’s clear that they’re not too happy with Saad/Smith given that they, at times, scratched them earlier in the season in favor of Reinhart and Holtz. In that sense a move to upgrade the bottom six at the cost of a mid round pick is more feasible.
Re: Andersson. They wanted him, and he wanted Vegas. Gonna depend on if a team emerges as willing to bite on him as a rental. That team might believe they can convince him to stay. He might like it, and spur Vegas. If he’s still a Flame after the deadline, could definitely see another Marner-esque sign and trade to get the 8th year before the new CBA rules kick in
From the article and Puckpedia:
1. RW Kiefer Sherwood (VAN) – 17 Goals, 4 Assists, 21 Points, Age 30, 2/2 $1.5M AAV, 2026 UFA
2. RHD Rasmus Andersson (CGY) – 8 Goals, 18 Assists, 26 Points, Age 29, 6/6 $4.55M AAV, 2026 UFA
3. LW, RW Nicholas Robertson (TOR) – 9 Goals, 11 Assists, 20 Points, Age 24, 1/1 $1.825M AAV, 2026 RFA (Arbitration Eligible)
I don’t know honestly. I feel like with Mccrimmon leading, there is always a chance for a big splash or some serious wheeling and dealing, but I kinda get the feeling this year is different. Like the team went to the second round of the playoffs last year and then acquired Marner after the season.
He was supposed to be the thing that pushes us past that 2nd round playoff. I feel like Mccrimmon might just let this season play out because we’ve made some serious large moves over the past few years, and we probably need a little bit of a reset if the team doesn’t figure it out. Whether that means moving on from Cassidy, or trading a whole bunch of players, I don’t know. But this year feels different for us trading wise.
Hoping I’m wrong, but I think we’re limited from an asset standpoint unless they are genuinely considering trading Hill.
Edit: Grammar
i would prefer for us to aim for andersson, but honestly i can see us getting sherwood and/or robertson for relatively the same prices they have now. it’s clear front office isn’t happy with guys like saad and smith, and while we don’t have many good draft picks who’s to say a team won’t accept one or two of our third rounders in the next few years
i definitely can see something working out with andersson though, he wants to be here and we want him. mccrimmon is great at trades like this, we need more defense depth but i just worry with who might head to calgary in this trade
Kiefer Sherwood for Sissons & Kolesar could be great.
