Max Clark – McGonigle gets most of the press, and rightfully so. With that being said, do you think Clark makes the team next year? Or are we still waiting with him?

  1. No they like to play games with service time. Only way they stick around is if they just destroy it in preseason

  2. If I was in charge, here’s your starting day lineup.

    1. Clark, CF
    2. Torres, 2B
    3. Carpenter, DH
    4. Greene, LF
    5. Torkelson, 1B
    6. Dingler, C
    7. Perez, RF
    8. McKinstry, SS
    9. Baez, 3B

    Skubal, SP

  3. Both never played AAA yet. Let them get some more reps there. The Tigers rushed Tork, Riley and Jobe through the system and that didn’t really pay off.

  4. I fully expect him up at some point, I just don’t think he’s ready for Opening Day or even shortly after. If he blows the doors off in ST and forces his way on to the roster I’d be very pleased of course.

  5. I think he makes the show this year and stays there, but you just never know with prospects.

  6. Both of these guys are not coming up until May 5th… Give time for the guys that they are gonna replace to see if they can hit. If its Vierling – Meadows – Jones – Perez.

  7. Neither of those guys are making the team out of Spring Training! They’ve both played less than 50 games above A ball, and this is not an organization that will make decisions based on a handful of at bats against random Spring Training pitchers. We don’t need any more posts about this!

  8. Waiting till 27 on both, assuming baseball gets played in 27.

It all makes sense when you think about an impending lockout in 27 and why they didn’t bring up mcgonical last year when the bats had ran out of steam

From a very selfish standpoint of the general management, why bring these kids up now, and waste potentially 2 years of service time on the 26 season knowing that no matter who you add to the team, they still wouldn’t be able to contend for a WS, even if they got there, and in 27 when there might not be baseball to be played.

Now maybe a lockout doesn’t happen, then you will likely see both at the start of 27, but I’m almost positive we will see neither in 26

  9. Mcgonigle there’s a slight chance but Clark nope. They would have to dominate at triple a for them to have any chance to get called up

  10. 27 of 28 yes. Did not excel at AA like McGonigle did. He needs at least half a year to a year and a half more in development

  11. He’s young and the team (should be) in win-now mode. If we see Clark on the big club before September, he went bananas in Spring Training and is doing Julio Rodriguez/PCA stuff to force his way onto the team.

The alternative is everything goes sideways, we don’t have an answer at CF with Meadows/Perez/Vierling and need to find something to spark the lineup. If that happens, we’re probably selling Skubal for parts and looking at another development year.

Let’s hope he spends a lot of time in Erie and Toledo this year.

  12. Max needs more Triple A time than McGonigle does, but he’ll get his shot, especially if Parker doesn’t really turn things around in the first half.

  13. While i think Clark will be a solid player… it would be nice to have Langford in this lineup right now.

  14. Max wasn’t exactly tearing it up at AA last season. He need more time in the minors. Maybe a September call up if we’re out of it. Plus, Parker Meadows needs a chance to re-establish himself with a healthy start to his season. Not ready at all to give up on him

  15. No chance he’s still really young. They are going to keep all the kids until post lock out. So we just wasted three years of Skubal because we didn’t want to block the kids – which we didn’t even play for this three years.

  16. He won’t be up for a few more years. They want to wait to start the clock on his major league time. Plus it buys Harris more time.

  17. Max Clark is no where near ready, his power is still being graded as “could be potentially average with some swing adjustments” which is very discouraging and disappointing given his draft position

I would’ve expected him at the very least to have average or above average power at this point with a pathway to the upper echelons of power

I do not feel reassured hearing “needs adjustments and then could be potentially an average power hitter”

When we drafted him I never expected “Mike Trout” but I thought “hey maybe he could be Julio Rodriguez”

Now I don’t know what to think

Time will tell if he actually pans out but I am not feeling great about his chances as a Julio Rodriguez type

Mcgonicle on the other hand looks ready right now

Hits ball hard and has serious homerun power and ability to launch the ball into outer space which as we’ve seen from Greene goes a long way to establishing yourself as one of the premier bats on the team as he hit homeruns last year further on average then anybody on the tigers

  18. I wouldn’t be surprised if we wait until ’27 to bring Max up. Perhaps he gets a call up late in the year though. I wouldn’t mind signing someone like Bader to hold down CF until he’s ready though. Meadows was abysmal last season.
