More of a failure on the draft side or the develop side? That quoted tweet is brutal. Two players from last nine drafts?!?!
I am past being frustrated and mad – now accepting this season is written off…
Doing the same thing and expecting different results strategy has to end immediately. That being said – I will absolutely support team and spend money if it includes tanking, get rid of deadweight (coaches and players), and rearm for future by loading up on draft picks and getting young blood in the lineup.
We should not be looking for answers this year as it’s done…. Let’s start looking to next season so that means trading any UFA for anything you can get (it won’t be much because they are all low low value so like round 3 picks or higher)…. Give some young players a look, and pray the lottery balls fall in our favour
Seeing the jets shit the bed and miss the playoffs doesn’t really feel all that bad. Shit happens, and mistakes are sometimes made. We have an NHL team, and we support them, and it was worse when we didn’t have one. What _does_ feel bad is that while I (and seemingly the majority of the fanbase) recognize this reality (that we suck), is the stubborn refusal to give up on the old, washed up talent that has been brought in and try out the young guys. I mean, we are losing anyway. Maybe they can only provide, at worst, the same result. On the other hand, they could also come in and show they can compete (and heaven forbid, develop). I don’t blame the players in the ice. I mean, if someone offered me millions of dollars to lose hockey games in front of thousands of people, I’d do it, too. It’s management. I get it. Chevy has a tough job. There’s a ton of guys with no trade clauses who don’t want to play here. But he has a whole bunch of young guys on the moose dying to play here, and he won’t let them. So this is on Chevy.

Kenny on their show last night said you can’t bring up Chibrikov because he is playing poorly in the AHL. Honestly what can you expect? These guys have been given zero chance, they aren’t playing for anything anymore.
They are at least serviceable and speedier than what we have. Tanev, Pearson, Koepke, Schenn, Miller, Fleury – Chibrikov, Ford, Lambert, Gustaffson, Salomonsson all could have given us something similar or better than what these acquisitions have given us. Or am I crazy?
Anyways. I have come to the conclusion that Chevy galaxy-brained this roster, in order to offset our goaltending so that we can get a draft pick that is actually appropriate to the team outside of the net.
Do we get a top 3 pick? Do the jets butcher that somehow?
Draft and Develop, then instead get Stastny twice (1st, 4th, 4th) Monaghan (1st, 3rd), Tofolli (3rd, 2nd), Hayes (1st, 4th, Brendan Lemieux), Schenn (2nd).
That’s 3x 1st, 2x 2nd, 2x 3rd, 3x 4th. And all we have left from that is Schenn…
