  5. Because the “winning” move would be to extend Nico, means Ricketts and Hoyer WILL trade him.
    Tom and Jed suck. They have no desire to field a contender.
    If Tom is punting on 2026 to protect himself in the event of a labor lockout, then he can do it without my money and eyeballs.

  6. They should have traded Nico a long time ago before they gave him the extension. He has no power. The team that hits the most homeruns has a .736 winning percentage. He he a complementary player and they don't have enough stars around him to make keeping him make sense. A team has to have at least 2 or 3 super stars to be WS contender and right now they don't have any super stars.

  8. It's clear that the club doesn't consider Nico an important player, so it's logical that they want to trade him before he becomes a free agent at the end of the season.

  9. They shouldn't even consider a dumb idea such as this ,this means you would then have to fill the spot at short stop which makes no sense, every one knows the Cubs need a great power hitter which now they are missing, stop being so cheap cubbies
