  1. I don’t blame him. He’s one first round exit away from being canned. This whole organization is in win now mode, the big name players are locked up in extended no trade contracts, and the whole team is right up against the cap. The one thing that management can do if they feel they need to change something is fire Cassidy, even if it’s not the right move. I think he’s right that the players don’t hate losing enough, and are fine coasting to a playoff berth on OTLs.

  2. Coaching and goalies can only do so much for the team. It’s not like the boys are scoring high but getting scored on too

I think the team has changed slowly over time from a solid team where some key players were elevating their team to perform at a high level, into a team with superstars with big figure long-term contracts.

They aren’t hungry. Hard to work hungry when you got those millions in the pocket.

  3. I don’t see any passion from any of the guys. I remember sitting close to the Avalanche and you can see the guys fired up and showing frustration coming back to the bench, despite being up. On the VGK bench the only person I saw show any emotion was Cassidy. The rest of the bench seemed low energy like they were there just to go through the motions.

  4. I watch the post game conference after every single game. I can care less about the player interviews cause they all repeat the same media coached bullshit. I ALWAYS pay attention to Cassidy, though!

I will never forget the cup year, after a comeback win during a rough patch, close to playoffs, Cassidy was asked what changed to get the comeback win in the 3rd. He said during 2nd intermission, Stone told Bruce to give him the locker room for a couple minutes. I guess the Captain tore the boys a new one and got them fired up for the 3rd and magic followed.

Bruce can see we just don’t have that heart and fire right now. He wasn’t even this deflated in January last year when our season went south for a whole month

  5. Some few days go, there was a thread in /r/hockey asking who on your roster was the “glue guy,” someone people love and rally around on and off the ice. Maybe someone who doesn’t contribute a ton, but is irreplaceable in the locker room.

I genuinely don’t think we have one. We now have a roster of people with the personality of “guy who is good at hockey.” The boys don’t hate to lose.

During the cup run, we heard SO much about Phil Kessel. Dude apparently was cracking a joke a minute, giving everyone quotes and keeping the mood going. I legit won’t ever forget [“When I’m gone, you guys need to stop saying my lines, okay?”](https://www.tiktok.com/@spittinchiclets/video/7246879473692347691?lang=en)

Who the hell do we have now with that kind of energy?
