[Jason Dumas] Eagles starters preferred resting and don’t care who they play

  1. I, too, prefer getting paid while not working – pretty sure that is intrinsically human nature.

  2. This is the mindset they’re bound to have as players regardless of if it were the correct choice or not. If it isn’t playing for a bye week players *shouldn’t* care who they play.

  3. No doubt. As I said last weekend, a week of rest on their bodies is worth more than another home game. They’ve been here before and know that. Fans would be bored if there wasn’t always something new to be upset about.

  4. that tracks. under sirianni, the eagles will always say it’s about them, and not the other team.

  5. I like this because of the rest but man idk if this offense can turn it around . If they’re gonna play this rat and mouse game against San Fran it’s gonna turn dark quick

  6. Can’t believe this is even a serious talking point, feels like everybody just needs something to whine about rn involving this team.

  7. It sucks how everything played out but rest was always the right choice. Just a shame the OC is such a doofus that he cost the backups the win and the team the 2-seed

  8. We didn’t even control our own destiny. Sure the bears ended up losing, but there was a real chance the bears ended up beating the lions and we risked injury for nothing.

If we controlled our own destiny then sure. This is such silly discourse.

  9. If we click we beat the field. If we don’t, we lose to just about the whole field. If we lose it’ll be because of us, not our opponent

  10. They know they’ll be running inside zones into stacked boxes and passing into double coverage regardless of who they play, they ain’t trippin

  11. Stuck with Patullo, doesn’t matter who the offense plays, the outcome is the same

  12. I get the “we don’t care who we play” attitude by the players but fact is if we lose to the Niners everybody is gonna look back on today’s game as a big mistake

  13. Yea fans all have their ideas but players know all the teams have a chance. Just beat who lines up against you and move on.

  14. We either have to go to Soldier field or beat all 3 NFC west teams in a row, so let’s check back in on this in a month

  15. I guarantee they would rather be playing the divisional round at home than fly to Chicago

  16. Uh duh. The players and coaches aren’t a bunch of dweebs that are “smarter than you” on the internet.

Side note, this game cost the Commanders 2 spots in the draft which could’ve been Downs or Bane just sayin

  17. Pretty sure the starters would have played if the 2 seed meant they’d be getting the bye week like they used to

  18. Everyone crying over second seed needs to understand that even if we had our starters in, KP is such a fucking liability that the chances of us losing are still pretty up there

We’ve lost to plenty of trash teams this season with our play calling and at least this way we have our best guys rested as much as possible. The rest falls on Nick and how much he’s willing to finally ignore KP

  19. I’m going to guess the captains were asked about their opinions on resting or playing. It was the right decision. Get guys rested and healthy.

  20. Patullo and Sirianni just wanted to make sure they’re rested enough to drop 13 points in the Wild Card

  21. It’s good they have confidence but to have that ego while being the worst graded offense in the league is kind of insane. They always talk about doing what ever it takes to win yet I guess increasing their odds by matching up against a significantly worse opponent isn’t included in that.

  22. I have zero confidence in patullo i know he’s gonna be the reason we lose

  23. My problem isn’t that we loss or that we didn’t play our starters. You will get detractors either way see the Saquon record decision last year. The issue I have is KP basically had a whole gane where he could try stuff or do anything and we got more of the same from him.

  24. I said it in an earlier thread, I bet if you polled the players they would prefer a week of rest over the two seed.

You know how you watch football and for the past few weeks the announcers say “everyone’s hurting this time of year.” A week of extra rest helps with that and gives a leg up against the 9ers who played in one of the roughest games of the year on Saturday.

  25. If they can’t beat a depleted Niners or Packers team, they didn’t stand a chance in the next round anyway.

  26. Remember that Hurts was concussed twice last season by Luvu. Last thing the Eagles needed was the Commanders “getting even” after their 55-23 loss in the championship last season.

  27. It’s crazy how much this is talked about but you were labeled mentally insane for suggesting Barkley go for the record last year. The offense especially has been banged up all season so you don’t skip the opportunity to let them rest if it’s available. Either way we have to win a playoff game at home and go on the road at some point unless the #1 seed loses.
