  1. Goodbye Pete. You’ve had a hell of a career. But it’s time for this team to go into the future.

  2. Right move, but I have read this exact message from Mark Davis far too many times. Let’s find a decent coach and build some continuity please?

  3. Thank god we didnt make him do a fucking press conference before firing him that shits so disrespectful

  4. I hope history is kind to him if his sole Raiders season enables the franchise to finally turn around in a big way. That’s all. Thanks Pete for the pick.

  5. Picturing Sanjit’s voice in my head: “We have some breaking news from the Las Vegas Raiders”

  6. I’m happy for you guys man, hope the stars align for yall and you guys get back on your feet.

Football is better when the raiders are good

  7. Sad it didn’t work out for him. But he has a great career he can look back on as a HC in the NFL. We have the number 1 pick and now we need to get this right.

  8. Not a Raiders fan but grew up with many, but I really assumed they’d have a good year with the offseason acquisitions and draft. Sucks to see a coach like Pete Carroll get the boot after 1 year but I guess it just wasn’t the right fit.

  9. Having Spytek lead operations is the ā€œcorrectā€ way to do things. Working the Brady is backing the ā€œtalkā€ previously that he was brought in to help make the football decisions.

  10. I’m glad Mark is finally stepping back from the HC searches. His statement of GM Spytek and minority owner Tom Brady being in charge of the search does give me some hope. Will be interesting to see how this search goes compared to previous years due to this change.

  11. Pete. You always seemed like a solid guy and I wish you well. But fuck man you killed me this year. Please ride off into the sunset and retire on a ranch somewhere, or coach a UFL team for the lolz.

  12. Raiders should never have offered Pete the job and Pete knows damn well he shouldn’t have taken it. Blame on both sides.

  13. I think everyone forgets that we were basically forced to get rid of Gruden due to the leaks and poltical pressure. JMD was a mistake from jump based off prior history.

I honestly feel like AP just got a raw deal(really had no chance without a viable QB) and Pete basically repeated JMDs sin of stubbornness, hubris and favoritism. What doomed JMD was refusing to go with AOC while Jimmy G was stinking it up, same with Pete and Geno, Cappa, Putham, Lockett, etc.

To anyone that wants to use the whole you can’t just fire coaches that fast. Do do you really think the Raiders would’ve been better off giving JMD, AP or Pete more time?(Id argue AP maybe).

  14. Geno smith got Pete fired again. If Pete gets another opportunity I hope he learns this time because his legacy is too good to take a bet on a career second string QB. I’m sure raider nation agrees too

  15. Wow this is shocking and I’m pissed off!

Is something a delusional fan would say.

  16. Pete it’s time for you to comPETE on the golf course, enjoy your retirement.

Young new offensive minded coach please!

  17. The second paragraph really sticks out to me. I keep remembering last years introductory press conference when Spytek was asked who is making the roster decisions and he gave this really awkward non decisive answer about collaboration. While collaboration is good, it was the first sign of not having a traditional GM above the coach hierarchy. As time went on we saw the mismatch on the team direction.

  18. I am very happy with this, but I can’t say it’s a situation like McDaniels where I’m saying “fuck that guy”

I know lots of Raiders fans are, but Pete is just a great guy, a great mentor and role model, and even just a couple of years ago a great coach. He just doesn’t have it anymore, and that’s a shame. Wish him the best in retirement! Get Kubiak
